OK  so on my way to work today I am hit by a driver who clearly does not know what a stop sign means.  I am driving in the city, pull up to a stop sign and stop  (hint I stop at a stop sign)  next thing I have this nonstopping person behind me that plows into me.  Here is a little more information, It is raining, hence you probably should not be driving as fast as if it is not.  So when I get out, I say, what is up with hitting me, get this the person replies  "You stopped", I look up at the stop sign and point and say, "Stop Sign", the next comment to me is "You completely stopped", I then repeated and pointed at the sign and said  "Stop Sign".  I got the insurance information, I said as we parted, "Please slow down" do you know this person had the nerve to say  "You need to get a better attitude",   UGH  Today's youth, how are you going to give someone attitude you just hit.  They will be paying for whole new bumper and paint job!  So morale of the story  SLOW DOWN!

I don't know if slowing down would have helped mainly if he was doing the speed limit or even HALF the legal limit. The problem here is an object in front of him did not stop.

He could have been on a riding lawn mower and still hit you. You really should call the police because the accident report would prove that you were the recipient in this situation.

That persons insurance would then pay and you shouldn't even dish out a deductible. But, since no fault is evident (with no report) you may have to pay out of your own pocket.

Good luck!

boysx2, calling the cops doesn’t work. I was rear ended at a stop sign and the cop just said that it happens all the time and they just take the information down and let it go. The person that hit me was on his cell phone at the time and the lady behind him told that to the cop as a witness, still did not make any difference. If the current laws had any teeth we would start seeing things change but until then, it’s status quos.

Well, in the scheme of things, he will get hit in the rear one day. Wonder what his attitude will be then........Hope you have a better week!

UPDATE-$700 worth of damage and the dealer stated they are probably going to find more. Called the insurance company reported it within an hour they called back and stated that they would take full responsibility for it due to their driver admitted it was their fault. Now I am in an American made car for a few weeks :((((((((((((((

I firmly believe that a simply knowledge of physics would cut down on accidents. You know, objects in motion will stay in motion until reacted upon by an equal and opposing force. My personal favorite, two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. I have a million of them. Aren't you glad you don't drive with me.

I would of taught him a lesson and claimed whiplash, and had an ambulance and teh police called, even if I wasn't hurt. Serves him right.

good old missouri law, even if there wasnt a stop sign and you slammed your brakes on to avoid hitting a squirel when you get rear ended in missouri its the other persons fault.it doesnt matter if you go one mile an hour if you hit another vehicle a police officer can give you a driving too fast for conditions ticket. you should always call the police when you are involved in or witness an accident.
