St. Louis.....the new New York?

You may wonder what I mean.  I am begining to think that St. Louis is the new New York.  It used to be that New Yorker's were known for being rude, I think that St. Louis is taking its place.  I have lived her all my life and I have friends who visit who say, you know your city is quite rude.  We are dubed the city that asked "what high school did you go to?"  If you did not grow up here that question has no merit.  Our drivers are rude if not the rudiest.  People in St. Louis are very self centered and in my 40 years in this city I can say it has gotten worse.  Think about how you treat people, do you treat them with respect?  Do you always feel you have to get something and if you don't you throw a temper tamper to get it?  We are entering into the time of the year where we are suppose to be thankful for what we have,  For those of you who think that the earth revolves around you, it does not, take some time to think of someone other than yourself.  Try putting your cell phone away when you are checking out, (I am sure that conversation is not that important), try to acknowledge a person who says hello to you,  if you don't get your way, try and be an adult and think does it really make any sense to get upset and make a scene?

you need to get over the feeling that New Yorkers are rude. People from New York and the metro area (I'm from NJ) are used to a more fast paced environment. People talk faster and shoot from the hip. No lolligagging around or beating around the bush. If you grow up there, no one teaches you to be rude. You just become used to a different way of looking at things.
I love St. Louis but on most levels it will never become another New York. nobody can top the Big Apple.

I don't think St. Louis is rude in general. I have never been to New York so I have no idea how New Yorkers are.

I am a fairly outgoing person. When I am walking and pass someone, I will look them in the eye and say hello. Most of the time I get a hello right back. Random acts of kindness do spread. St. Louis may need more people initiate, once initiated you do see the good in people.

As for the driving, yes there are rude drivers but you see them all over the country. I dislike drivers don't wait their turn and do not normally let them in. You know the ones I am talking about, the ones who fly down the left only turn lane (or the right curb lane that is ending) then cut over. Yes, call me rude to those people but I think they are the rude ones by not waiting in line like everyone else.

So why watch news from New York when you have news from St. Louis?

Fox 2 News In The Morning...Puts one in a good mood; never rude. :)

I never watch the New York morning news. I would watch local in the morning if I had the time. One of those last minute, I hit the snooze button one too many times person, who is rushing to get out the door. But I do watch almost all your evening news casts.

I am a New Yorker by birth and by tradition. I am fast talking, opinionated and have been told one of the nicest guys here in the middle of Middle America. In fact, New Yorkers are considered some of the friendliest people on the planet.

I have been met with more rude comments and dispositions in Columbia, St. Louis, Springfield and Kansas City than in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx or Staten Island. Comparing the protectionism of Missouri with the fast pace lives of New York is just rude.

Sorry John Pertzborn, but your commercials about New York news are pretty lame. St Louis should not and cannot compete with New York. At least you got a free trip to the greatest city in the world to film thos dumb commercials. Who came up with that idea anyway?
