You know, I was never really a fan of Nicole Kidman..she always seemed a little snobby, cold, uppity; but when Tom Cruise dumped her the way he did, it made her more human to me, and I started watching/reading interviews with her after. Turns out, the Nicole Kidman behind the ice queen turned out to be pretty cool, and very human. (Course, she IS a very good actress..)
I guess being publicly dumped and humiliated will do that to you.
Keith Urban I've always liked. He's always seemed very down to earth, more of an everyman than any country musician I ever read about or watched. He seemed more like the guy next door, the one you'll invite over for a beer, (well, maybe not anymore, but you get what I mean.)
Certainly not Nicole's type, you would think!!
But here they are, married and pregnant. Is she responsible for some of his best music ever? ("Stupid Boy" I swear is aimed at Tom Cruise.) I think so.
I TRY not to get too obsessed with celebrities and their lives, but these two, well, if there's a story on them, I'll pick it up and read it. Can't resist.
Keep your Angelina and Brad, give me Keith and Nicole!!
PS..I really like this picture.
I've always done my best to expose my daughter to all kinds of music, from New Age to Acid Rock. She's heard Prince, Primus, Andrea Bocelli, AC/DC, Heavy D, Sting, U2, Joss Stone, Sheila E, Brooks and Dunn, Keith Urban, Big & Rich, Martina McBride, Toby Keith, the Chicks, Phil Collins, Adam Ant, Linkin Park, Ozzy.. you name it! I've been so proud of the extensive musical genres my darling daughter has been exposed to, blah blah blah..
HOWEVER..it was brought to my attention I have been favoring some over others, and my own shameful neglect of rock & alternative. We were enroute to MeMaw's house yesterday morning, and Scotti says, "Ooh, Mom, turn that up, I LOVE that song!" The radio was on the BUZZ, 94.5, and as I don't usually listen to that station I didn't recognize it. It was "Forever" by Papa Roach. I liked it.
Same thing on the way home last night. Same station. I turned it up, thinking Peter Gabriel had come out with a new song. Scotti goes, "Oh, Blue October!! I LOVE that song, it's my FAVORITE!!" The song was "Into the Ocean". I looked at her and said, "How do you KNOW all this?" She replies "Daddy and Tony listen to this station all the time." When I talked to Scott, he said, "Yep, the stereo in the shop truck has that digital readout which shows artist & song."
I thought about that while I was waiting to go to sleep. I've fallen into the "talk show rut" and "iPod rut"..and as a result have limited both her and myself the amount of new music we've heard. NO MORE!!
Got to work today..downloaded Into the Ocean, Forever, and Blue Monday by Orgy. No more talk shows for me!!
I swear I learn more from that kid of mine than she learns from me.
