Name That Disease?

In researching Leukemia for yet another diagnoses for my recent health problems I came across "Hairy Cell Syndrome".   I know the topic is not funny, but the person that named a disease "Hairy Cell Syndrome" has to have a sense of humor!  It is hard to take that name serious, illness should at least have a dignified name.  I must admit I would have a hard time telling someone I have "Hairy Cell Syndrome" especially if all of my hair falls out from Chemo. 

All kidding aside, apparently this round of test show that I have a rare form of Leukemia and it can be managed.  This is my third diagnoses so I am hoping this one is the charm because I am ready to move on.  I do not care if I lose my hair or what the name is of what I have, I just want to get back to living my life.  

I know we are all just blogging friends but it is nice to know that you all are out there.  Thank you for your support, thoughts and prayers!

Hey guys, I did a horrible job writing this email. I do NOT have Hairy Cell Syndrome, I just came across that name while researching Leukemia. Several people have sent me info on the subject of hairy cell syndrome so I thought I should just clarify, my cells are not hairy. Thanks for thinking of me!

My cells are somewhat hairy and the one's on my head continue to fight the good fight.

My brain is hairy at times, or at least Hawk accused it of being so.

My toes aren't all that hairy and neither are my elbows.

My nose and ears have not begun the "old guy" syndrome of growing hair at a prolifiic rate...not yet.

I'm glad your not as hairy as I, sweet Michelle..........leukemia is nothing to laugh at but is highly treatable and I suspect you will live a happy and ripely old age when you finish your treatment.

Knowing precisely what the problem IS, is a great relief (at least for me).

We are glad to see and hear from your smiling face.

Funny how something like this brings all of the divergent personalities together in wishing you God's speed to a full recovery.

Keep up the banter, it's good for all of us.

My husband has hairless cell syndrome and he loves it..he saves on shampoo.
When My Sister had to go through chemo for her breast cancer, she lost her hair and I bought her one of those shiny purple wigs that have those straight even bangs and I bought me a red one and we took her out on the town. Comraderie and being with people who care and give a darn is the best medicine. You have got what it takes to get through it and we will be with you in thought and prayer.

Thanks for the chuckle! I really did laugh out loud! I know it is highly treatable and suspect that I will live a long time. Billy Joel told us all.....only the good die young. I'll be over one hundred! YD you are right knowing what the problem is has lightened my heart and I am ready! Thanks again for the laugh!

YD, you hit the nail on the head, why do we lose hair in places we always had it when we were young and start to get it in new places when we get older? My husband, case in point, loses on head and chest, starts to grow on ears and in ears and even one icky little one on the tip of his nose that I am constantly plucking for him. God just keeps us laughing at ourselves as we get older...to take our mind off the serious stuff.

Michelle, I can speak with some authority about the loss of hair.

Although you're lovely, charming, smart, funny, and a redhead. Without hair you would still be lovely, charming, smart and funny.

I was a redhead in my younger days, although the hair slowly turned darker and eventually left me. So as an ex-redhead I can still be smart and funny. Once in a while I'm even charming but it doesn't last very long. I never did become lovely though, so you're already ahead of me.

Having recently accepted the nomination of a fellow blogger to run for President I felt it was appropriate to update my profile.
