"A wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings, and learn how by his own thought to derive benefit from his illnesses."  Hippocrates

Becoming frustrated with my undiganosed condition and wanting to return to my previous level of health,  I asked my cousin how he handles the negativity of people around him as he becomes increasingly weaker from his illness of ALS.  We do not appreciate what we have until it is gone and I for one have become extrememly frustrated with people who complain about the slightest problem or issue.  That is my problem, I need to learn to deal with it, but people complain about everything from a paper jam to a traffic jam.  I am guilty too, when my health was perfect I thought my day was ruined if I was 5 minutes late for work or if I missed a deadline.  The truth is the world did not come to a sudden halt, time marched forward no one except for me fell to pieces because the copier did not work.   We are the only ones that can control our attitudes and take a second to appreciate what we have in life that is good.

Can you work?  Can you get out of bed and brush your teeth, can you feed yourself?  Can you sit up in bed and hug a loved one?  If so you are blessed and live your life like you are and stop complaining.  Who knows, they may never figure out what is wrong with me but I know one thing, my attitude about life has changed.  Life and health is fragile and precious, appreciate what you have and let go of the things that don't matter.

Great post, Michelle!

And our thoughts and prayers are, and have been, with you.

I was out for a motorcycle ride on this BEAUTIFUL Sunday afternoon - temp in the mid-70's. I was running a little late but I so much wanted to ride my favorite stretch of asphalt - a six-mile twisty, hilly road near my house - before I went home. I thought, what if something happens to me this week such that I might regret NOT running CR1491? Guess what I did?

Life is good. All the best to you!

Great post, Michelle.
It is important to have the right focus in life yet so easy to be distracted by the little things that we have to face that pretty soon, the little things become big things and we are constantly putting our focus on the wrong things.
It does a lot of good to take the opportunity to step back, take a good long look at our lives and refocus on what's really important.
I'm certianly glad to know someone like you who maintains a strong attitude towards life even when faced with difficulities. This is what makes us better people in the end.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as well as my hope that your health continues to improve. Take care of yourself!

You got it. Our creator has given us nothing but time; what we do with it is up to us. Hang in there and blessed be.

Sick sucks.

It's ok to feel angry, sad, depressed and a degree of self pity when you don't feel good, especially if it's not going to get better...however, you make the very true point that at some point in time it is a decision you make as to how YOU will deal with IT.

Those like yourself, sweet Michell, who can say "I'm gonna' make life GOOD", are better able to live life as our hand is dealt.

Make the most of what you have and don't sweat the small stuff.

Good advice girl. I'm glad you're back sharing your gems of wisdom.

Having recently accepted the nomination of a fellow blogger to run for President I felt it was appropriate to update my profile. I have lived in Florida for a long time, but have lived in 13 States in total. I feel that having lived in a quarter of the states I am qualifed to be President. I do have a political affilialtion, however that is not important, I will do what is best. If you contribute to my campaign I promise to make promises that you want to hear!!!! If you don't vote for me, don't vote for anyone, no sense in wasting your time!
