Steve Irwin's son was bitten by a baby boa constrictor.  "He picked one of them up and it bit him on the finger, and he was so proud to have copped his first hit" Terri Irwin said.   The boy then said, "I hope it wasn't venomous."  If the 4 year old child does no KNOW the difference between a venomous snake and a non venomous snake why on earth is the mother letting him play with it?  He'll think it is okay to play with any snake and end up like his father, DEAD!  She defends her self by saying that she wouldn't actually let him play with a venomous snake.  Good job mom.

Terri Irwin is scary. Someone in authority NEEDS to go and get those two little children before they both end up dead. Steve Irwin wasn't smart enough to stay out of the way of a deadly animal but he was an adult and could make his own decisions about what he wanted to do with himself. Little children don't have that ability and need the protection of their parents to insure there are no dangers in their lives. Where this is lacking, the parent show the obvious lack of ability to protect the innocent. Those children need an advocate who will see to it that they make it to their majority.

There is just something wrong with that family. A fascination with and study of animals is a wonderful thing. But these people are just plain nuts.

Steve Irwin was sort of a cross between Marlon Perkins and Evel Knievel. The Evel part won out.

The first time I saw Steve Irwin, I said that man wants to die. I never liked him and like his wife even less. Her elevator isn't reaching the top floor.

Leasheryn, the ironic part of this story, they were at FAO promoting a toy when she recounted the story. If you ask me, she is using the children and her husbands death as her own gravy train. Supposedly this family is promoting a love for animals and education about them, what they are really doing is milking the cow for their own benefit. Really scary.

That's the same impression I got, Michelle. To be honest, I only watched Steve Irwin a couple of times but he irritated by the way he treated the animals. There was nothing humane or caring about what he was doing. Two times I remember, the first he removed a mother python from her babies and made a show out of keeping her away from the babies to demonstrate how annoyed a snake can become and second, he jumped on the back of a gator and rode it around a lake while it was flairing. That sounds neither caring, humane or normal.

And I think Terri Irwin should have her mental capasity checked, be medicate or institutionalized as needed. She is a clear and imminent danger to those two little children. But I guess money is more important to her than young lives.

How are you? I hope much better! Take care!

How dare you say such stuff about Terri! She is doing the best she can. Those kids will never worry about anything. They are being well taken care of. She loves what she does and is helping to educate stupid people like you. To treat every living creature as it should be treated. With love and tender care. They go out of their way to educate people about animals. They spend all their time and money. These kids will never have to worry if they will have a roof over their head or food in their bellies. You might not agree with how she makes her money but don't say she is a bad mother for what she does!

Okay, dreams1998, how safe and sane is it to let a 4 year old play with a snake and he has not been educated as to whether it may kill him or not! What happens when he encounters a snake in the wild? All creatures should be respected and children should have the respect that any wild animal may harm them. In addition she WANTED people to know he "copped" his first bite. Why? She flaunted it for the publicity while promoting a toy. What she should have done is stated to all parents and children that snakes may harm people and to use it as a lesson at what NOT to do.

I feel bad that she lost her husband and the children do not have their father, I am sure she is doing the best she can but you would think she would use just a little more common sense.

WRONG I WOULD NEVER SUPPORT HILARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I SUPPORTED ONE OF THE DROP OUTS IN REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!!!!!!! She is a good mother. To call someone a bad mother is hitting below the belt! She is teaching them about wildlife. You might not agree with it. She would never let one of her kids handle a deadly snake! She did it because for their family it is a big deal! They are from a different culture! Have you forgotten she live in Australia!!!! Different places have different cultures. I'm sure you know what they teach kids in the MIDDLE EAST!!!

The Australain government (or rather their version of Children and Families) already have Terri Irwin under investigation for abusive behavior towards her children. They are poised to remove both Bindi and Bob from her care due to neglect and endangerment.

Dreams, you missed the entire point. It doesn't matter what country they live in. The point is the child was playing with a snake and did not have the knowledge whether it could kill him or not. IF she is supposedly educating her children about wildlife he should have known, further more she WANTED everyone to know that he was proud to have been bitten. I can't wait to see what is next, his little fingers chomped off by an alligator, won't mom be proud? Better call a press conference! What she is doing is exploitating her children.

I agree with you completely, Michelle. It's good to educate children about wildlife but I think Jack Hanna is doing a much better job of it than the Irwins.
And it's not normal maternal feeling to make a big deal about a child's injury particilarly one caused by a snake.
I feel sorry for Bindi since she's been put into her father's shoes before she's even had a chance to make up her own mind about her future. Maybe she doesn't want to do what daddy did. She's way to young for this sort of life. What Terri's doing is just as bad, if not worse, than what the beauty pagent mothers do to their daughters.
