I work in Irvine CA, traveling from the 5 North bound freeway to the 405 North bound freeway they are currently backed up taking as much as 15 minutes to travel ½ a mile at less then 5 miles per hour as of 8AM this morning. My suggestion to anyone needing to travel to Irvine from South Orange County or from Irvine back to South Orange County is to exit the freeway at any exit and take Alton parkway in and out of Irvine. Alton is open for about 90% of the way.

 

 

If you are in south county (Mission Viejo area) take Margarita to Jeronimo Make a left at Jeronimo to Alton parkway and make another left at Alton, this will take you to Jamboree, Macarthur and all through downtown Irvine into Santa Ana by Dryer Street. From Irvine to South County make rights on the same streets reversing the above process.

 

 

I hope this helps anyone out there stuck in traffic or heading out.
