I believe in our country. Our system works well.

But, I am about fed up with all this election crud. We seem to be at each others throats.

Conservative, liberal, libertarian, communist or what have you. I personally do not give a damn what you are. Why so hateful? Why the accusations? Can we not at least be civil in our debates.

If not, we are not what we claim to be. Brothers and sisters in the great experiment.

Sure, debate all you want. But please, do it in the spirit of the United States. For all of our sakes.

This is why I believe the primary and general election period should be no more than six months (or less!).

I say give them 2 weeks. If you can not convince me to vote for you in that time, you never will.
But then again, you buy me enough beer....

If elected I promise a pork steak on every plate.
If elected I will cancel the In-Bev A-B deal.
If elected I promise a Harley in every drive way.
If elected I promise I will take you're money and spend it semi wisely.
And read my lips, no new taxes, until I need more of you're money!
All soldiers will get a raise, all CEO's will be required to eran no more than 5 times the highest paid employee, I will take 10 mil a year to be on you're board.....
If elected I promise to screw you over more than the last president.
Hows that for honesty?

One thing I really like during the politcal season all the funny jokes and skits you see.

Mechany we need your promise on the illegal immigrants problems.

Also what about the companies that send the jobs overseas to the sweatshops that pollute then send tainted products back to us. Can you make any promises?

Okay, I like questions to which I have somewhat answers.
Make all illegal immigrants legal immigrants, then tax their pay. I want their money for my new pool at the White house, that I will repaint tan. I like tan. Especially on you foxy Hawaiian ladies.
As far as the jobs going over seas and their products. A DVD player in every house, and Tariffs. High high tariffs. It will raise prices you say? I DO NOT CARE! I want you're money for my brand new supersonic Air Force One. That is armed with Lasers. So I can burn Saddam Husseins eyes out with. Wait a sec. He is dead already. Dang it! I blame Bush for getting him first. I promise I will find Bin Laden and burn his eyes out!
Yeah, me to. The political jokes are the best part. Leno and Maher seem to do the best ones.
Since our buddy Carlin is gone.
I promise I will reanimate George Carlin! And clone him! A Carlin in every house!

I can not stop Patch. All of that Jack Black has loosened my tounge.
I promise no more dry counties, we all need to get drunk.
I will legalize pot and tax the heck out of it.
For all you hard drug users, hope you like to work, you will be drilling for oil in the ANWAR!
Free toast and Elderberry jelly for breakfast, my favorite so it should be yours also.
To honor my favorite president. We will have a national jelly bean day. Jimbob should like that one.
Believe it or not, this was gouing to be a serious blog. But, I said what the heck. Why not have some fun with it. It is all Patch's fault. He nominated me for the big cheese.
Hey! Free cheese burgers! This is national cheese burger day after all!

Our country working well is not an absolute. At times we will fail. We will lose at times and rightfully so. We're not perfect.
Don't tell me that you understand, unless you hear the man.

Sure, we will have problems and have. But, all in all I think it works pretty damn good. Not so much the so called leaders. But us, the people. I would hazard to say that 95% of us do good. Help each other out when needed and watch each others backs.
I know I feel safe. I feel confident that even now, when things do not look all that rosy, that we will come back stronger than ever.
ROCK THE VOTE!

To get back to the serious side of your post, sadly, I have to believe that America is a nation that always improved their products and services to the point of making them almost too expensive for "middle class" Americans. That improvement includes the Personal Relations Industry, who are the driving force in this election. The best PR company will win, no matter how useless or old the candidate really is, he will be what they portray him as, at least until the polls close. Then God help us.

You bring up some good points, here, mechany, except that I don't think the United States is an experiment, anymore. The product has been put to market, but it still has some kinks that didn't show up in testing!

But an interesting perspective with this post is the fact that mechany probably would be as good a man as president as the ones running for the office.

As an example of one of our problems as an electorate, I don't see how you, mechany, could not realize the fact that there are some people in this country who just would not vote for you based on race only - sad, but true - and that is just one of our issues as a nation.

Weird touched on another big one. Image. Public relations. I looked for a new job last year and found one. But as I interviewed during several months, I was struck by how little actual experience or talent mattered. The search was all about appearance, attitude, assertiveness, interviewing skills, interpersonal skills, pretty resumes, good looks, a firm handshake (yes, I even had some "advice" that my handshake was just not up to par) - in short, everything but what actually matters.

And it occured to me: The service people you deal with every day, or the folks who sell you your insurance, or the people making the products you use, all were hired because of anything but their actual ability to do their job. They were the cutest, or the earliest, or had the nicest suit, or LIED the most - we don't even hire people for the right reasons, anymore. Is that why our products are becoming so expensive and inferior, our services poor, an
