I will be the first to admit, I am proud that a black man has been nominated to be president. Why not. He looks something like me.

But. Is he the right black man to be the first?

Is not General Colin Powell a better choice?

A man of integrity. A honest man, whom defended our country.

If Colin Powell would have run, How many of you would have voted for this great man?

I very much respect the man...that is for sure! But I would have to know more about him than I do to say yes or no....
What he believes....thinks he would be passionate about getting done or not done...

But yeah .. I highly respect the man and certainly would consider voting for him.

I would have to know more about his Postions on things...I like him..I think he has great Character... But if he came out for Big government, etc..etc.. No.. If he was for Constitutional Governance then Yes...it all depends on the Issues and his Stance on them.

Sorry..that may not be what you are looking for...lol I am no help..as my wife would say...

I don't know. I am guessing he would run as a republican. So, most likely not. But maybe.

Huckabee was on Colbert last night. I wish he was the republican candidate. He would make the desicion tough.

Sure I would vote for him as long as I didn't find out he also attended a church for 20 years or more that had a preacher who preached hatred against the Whites.

Huh?
What does Colin Powell have to do with it now? He confessed and walked away already.

Tom - While his perspective in international and military manners is superb, I would want to hear much more about his views on domestic issues (taxes, spending, NAFTA, size of government, social spending, tort reform and other such issues before making that decision.

One thing I will say is that he has character and experience, which is sadly lacking in Obama.

Issues? How he stands, is more important.

I know, it is wishful thinking about General Powell. Methinks the man is to smart to want the job. From all I have read about him I think he would do the office well. He would bring back the respect we have lost in the world.
Did you know he objected to the current war in Iraq? His theory on war is there is no such thing as limited war. You go in with everything you have and make it a short war. It worked in Desert Storm quite well. Powell and Stormin Norman made sure of it.

Obama is a very articulate black man, there's no reason why he can't be the next president of the USA, why he would want the job is beyond me but... I think he's made history whether or not he is elected and if I was black I would say "bout time"

If you ask me, men like Colin Powell are what our flag is all about.
No, he does not have an axe to grind, that I believe would be a good thing for a prez. If either of our potential presidents have an ounce of brains, they will ask him to be the secratary of defense.

What Idon't understand about all the Obama supporters on that side of the river is...They don't agree at all with our form of government here in IL... AT ALL...While he was in office here, a scant 2yrs he changed nothing!!!How if you can't change 1 state,,, do you plan on changing 50???? On top of which this is where he gets his experiance from!!!I have listened for so many years how great Missouri is...

It kinda reminds me of Forrest Gump...The part where ole forrest goes to give Bubbas mom his part of the shrimp boat proceeds and she asks"are you stupid or something" and he replies back "stupid is as stupid does" and that pretty much sums it up..

I would have even campaigned for Colin Powell - and with Stormin Norman as a VP - what a team - we would not have to fear any terrorists or any other country for that matter.

If he and Obama were both running, I'd still vote for Obama. Colin Powell, I think, is a decent man. However, I don't believe his experience matches Obama's. Contrary to popular opinion, Obama has a long history (20 years plus) of community service, and, he's been an elected official longer than Hillary Clinton. Powell has more of a Bush influence and a more limited area of expertise. Obama has always shown he's an humanitarian and he has the ability to draw world opinion about the US in a favorable light . Age would also be a factor. Obama has more progressive ideas, it seems, and Powell is more experienced in "the old ways". It's a new world of ideas, science, and technologies. I don't think Powell could be the type of leader that inspires as well as Obama does. Even with Obama, our road is going to be long and painful because he has such a mess to clean up. However, the road to recovery is going to be painful no matter who's elected. It's just that with McCain it will be more painful because our current wounds will continue to get deeper and wider instead of going into recovery. McCain won't start a recovery process so our wounds will take even longer to heal, if ever. I think Obama will take a lot of heat if elected, because he has to perform surgery that won't be easy. He's still got my vote.
