Every year, hundreds of illegal immigrants die trying to cross the Mexico/US border. To help them out, some Mexican leaders have proposed giving those illegals a GPS Satellite device. That device could be used if the immigrant gets lost or hurt trying to cross the border.
It's just a proposal right now, but is already drawing some harsh criticism.
Our question today...Does it make sense for the Mexican goverment to help their people illegally cross the border, IF, it would help save hundreds of lives every year.

The Mexican government may say they are trying to save lives, but lets not miss the hidden agenda. The more Mexicans they get into the American workforce, the more American money is being sent back to Mexico. Mexico is unwilling to take care of its own people, so they pressure the US to allow them amnesty. And now they are wanting the US to pay social security to Mexicans living in Mexico, that worked in the United States, whether it was legally or not. What nerve. They are wanting continued benefits from an act they committed illegally.

Maybe if Mexico wanted to save Mexican lives, they could help make the way of life and living conditions better in their own country first. Maybe they should stop allowing corporations to set up shop on Mexican soil and pay poverty level wages.
Personally, I think it is just an excuse to help get more Mexicans accross the border. Did they mention the maps that come with the GPS? Or maybe it will work like the Tom-Tom, and tell them where to turn, leading them through a safe passage into the US.

Genny

Even though the mexican immigrant is illegl, that individual is still human and has a family that loves them. Why sit back at let them die.

mexican gov. needs to get there country in line with the rest of us and people would not have to try to cross over and get hurt and or die.. and u.s. needs to get these business and other employers to remember that we have a lot of home less that need jobs to survive..

Illegal aliens have indeed died trying to find their way through the desert to cross the Mexico/US border. Now that Mexican leaders are proposing that illegals can use an issued GPS Satellite device to aid in a safe journey, the US needs to step up and secure the borders immediately.
The Mexican government seems to make a huge errors in judgment and seldom do their decisions make since to the citizens of the U S. I doubt if the Mexican Govt. really cares about the Mexican citizens well being during their journey north - just look at the way they "care" about them while they're living in poverty in Mexico. If more Mexican's can make safe passage to our country to work - the more money they can send back to the families left behind. I don't think it's a matter of safety, I think it's to aid them in finding an unsecured area to cross without being detected.

Our Government is failing each and every one of us by allowing illegals to enter this country. Illegal aliens from the South are costing American workers jobs, they are tapping into our health system, using our welfare system, inhabiting our prisons, adding to the crime rate, and if they actually do pay taxes they have so many deductions for dependents that they pay little if any taxes.
It has been reported on CNN that 33 percent of our prison population is now composed of non-citizens. Plus, 36 to 42 percent of illegal aliens are on welfare.

Illegal immigration is just that. ILLEGAL !!
It is a federal crime, punishable by jail, fines, or both, and deportation. If these people, "human beings" were not breaking the law, they would not be dieing in the desert. So if the Mexican government begins giving these illegal immigrants a GPS tracking device, would they not also be aiding and abetting illegal activity? Would they not be responsible for breaking a US federal law?

How long is the US government going to continue to ignore this? When will they step up and be accountable to the US citizens?

If any US citizen is guilty of breaking a federal law, they are held accountable. Why are illegal immigrants not held to these same standards?

Let them use the GPS systems so that when they get shot for trying to cross the boarder Mexico can come a pick up their body. America needs to do something fast about our borders.

Before anyone starts I know they are people but they are taking away from me and my family. Come into this country legally and you won't have that problem.

This is total insanity!!!!! It's like Mexico wants their citizens to move to the US.

No GPS system. Hey, how about this. Mexico, give your citizens a decent wage, human rights, and a reason to STAY in Mexico.

Are you saying lets join forces for individuals to do something illegal just in case they get lost or hurt? I don't think SO!

I think it's strange that Mexican authorities are considering this. I know that they are aware of how the U.S. feels about illegal aliens. They've even been tossing around the idea of putting up a wall. So why push there luck? Are we going to get into a war with Mexico too?

Hey how about our Government leaders meet them at the border and shake their hands and say Welcome to America!Better yet, how about they raise our taxes so they can help fund the GPS systems. Unless our government steps up to the plate and cleans up the mess they have made, it will continue and we as LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS have no say so in the matter.

No, I don't drink coffee, even though I get up at 2:30AM every morning. Todd Meany here, if you didn't guess. I do love working in the mornings though. The crew is great, and it's nice to be home in the afternoon so I can hang out with my 3 boys.
