I WOULD LIKE TO FIRST SAY THAT THE FAMILY OF THE POLICE OFFICER IS IN MY PRAYER'S

THEN I'D LIKE TO SAY THAT MY BABY SON WASN'T A POLICE OFFICER BUT WAS ALSO MURDERED FEB 15.2007.

BY SOME ONE WHO WAS ON PAROLE FOR GUN CHARGES AND SHOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN IN JAIL. BUT SOME PAROLE OFFICER ALLOWED HIM TO BE OUT HERE ON THE STREET'S OF PHILLY TO MURDER MY CHILD.

THE LAW SHOULD BE THE SAME FOR ALL MURDER'S

WEATHER THEY KILL A POLICE OFFICER OR A EVERY DAY

KIND OF PERSON. I HURT ALSO AND WILL HURT TILL THE DAY I DIE THINKING ABOUT MY SON.

AND THE LAW NEEDS TO APPLY FOR ALL MURDERS NOT JUST THE MURDER'S OF POLICE OFFICER'S.

BECAUSE IF A MURDERER WILL JUST SHOOT AND KILL AN EVERY DAY PERSON YOU KNOW HE WON'T CARE WHOO HE SHOOT'S AND KILL'S.

SO THE LAW'S NEED TO BE HARDER ON MURDER'S AND STOP LETTING THEM SIT UP IN JAIL BEING FED BY TAX PAYERS MONEY FOR YEAR'S BEFORE THERE SENTENCED FOR THE CRIME.

       A LOST HEART.........

I don't think anyone would disagree with you. One life has no greater value than another. ..and a harsh sentence should be used in all crimes committed with any kind of weapon. But you also need to understand, that our police force is our first line of denfense. They are out in the open and an easy target. ... also bear in mind, the community needs to take some responibility too ... after all, these thugs are a product of the citizens emulating from these areas. They are not only a scourge on their own community, but also the surrounding communities. You can start by aiding the police in apprahending these animals, not harboring them. (not you personally, but you as a community)

The death penalty should be the sentence for all murders.
ESPECIALLY the police, as they will put their own life in jeopardy to help everyone each day they are out there.
So yes it should be a tough sentence, but especially tough for those that put themselves in harm’s way to protect all of us.

Each life is so precious, be it a policeman who protects and serves our community, a little girl playing outside in front of her door, the grandmother sitting on her porch, or the mother or father coming home from work. Yet, all those people I described have been struck by the mighty bullet. Innocent lives, brought to a complete halt. Why is this happening? GUNS. Like the old saying, guns don't kill people, people kill people. If these weapons are continuely made available to these thugs, more people will be wounded and or killed. Just as the law locks up these criminals who do these crimes, they NEED and HAVE to go after the person or persons who sell these guns. These people are just as guilty as the person who pulls the trigger. The policeman who lost his life was killed by an Chinese automatic weapon. You know, that thug did not go to a gun shop and purchase that weapon. He had to buy it black market. The people who sell these weapons on the blackmarket need to be found and brought to justice just as the thugs. We have to get these guns and these criminals off the streets.

Marlene sorry about your child. My father was a police office killed in the line of duty when I was 10 years old. Guns laws have to change but the way society is, this one puts money in that ones pocket things won't change. Florida just changed a law that you can now carry a gun in your car. I can't figure where the law makers minds are. Until something hits home to them then they will think differently.

dramamom2008, I never lost a child to firearms, but I do know people close to me who have. I am so sorry to hear about your dad though. The police today don't have a chance. Most of their injuries or deaths along with innocent civilians are caused by thugs who by these weapons on the black market. Something has GOT to be done about it. I believe if these weapons can be traced back to the person who sold them (imagine, these people buy and sell these guns illegally to thousands of people)this will cut crime drastically. At least it's a start.
I read in the newspaper that some colleges are considering students to carry handguns to school. Tell me, where are these lawmakers heads? Look at Florida. I just don't get it. Between the NRA and our government, I don't know which has lost their minds.

I would like to know if the guns that are used in the murders in this city were bought legally
or out of a trunk of a car ? They never report if they were owned by the killers or not. I realize they are trying to change the gun laws, but I myself feel they are going after the wrong people. Try and find out where the illegal guns are coming from first before the innocent people that need a gun for protection are penalized. Living in Phila and seeing what goes on everyday scares the heck out of me.
