WHEATLAND, WI--- I've covered a lot of freakish weather in my 20 plus years as a television reporter.  I've been in hurricanes, tornadoes and blizzards.  But I never imagined I'd cover a January tornado in Wisconsin.  Monday the temperature in this southeast Wisconsin town climbed into the 60's.  That's when angry clouds moved across the horizon and several funnel clouds developed.  Some of them touched down, raking across hilltops here.  Dozens of homes were damaged or destroyed.  At least two deaths were reported across the border in Illinois.  Remarkably, there was no loss of life here.  Here is a link to the story I reported last night on TODAY'S TMJ4: http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/13551712.html

Besides the human tragedy involved, I think my greatest heartbreak would be not knowing where my animals were and whether they were okay or not. Hopefully the affected people who cannot locate their pets will be reunited with them again. My heart goes out to them.

I always enjoy your reports, George! It's great to see your face and hear your voice again. We miss ya here in Philly!

Great report, George.

We miss you here in Delaware !

This is a typical La Nina winter where the jet stream moves in a "see-saw" pattern (warm - east, stormy, cold - west and then vice versa). Living in Wisconsin put you in the middle of the "battle zone", so to speak with a January tornado.

Tomorrow, (Friday), I suspect we will be in the low to mid 60s for highs here in Philadelphia. The record high is 66 degrees, set back in 1975.

David,
Thanks. I posted the same report over on your blog. I hope you don't get the unstable weather we got. It is wacky here. I did tornado reports Monday and Tuesday. Tonight (Thursday) I was standing in the snow up in West Bend Wisconsin. Big, wet flakes of accumulating snow look pretty good after a tornado!

I'm just a guy who loves to ride horses. I used to work at Fox 29 before relocating to Wisconsin. This is a picture of me with Afleet Alex who won the Preakness and Belmont Stakes and became 3 year old champion in 2005
