I see all these stories about transfers going away. People complaining that it is going to cost them so much each ride. One why aren't they buying weekly or monthly passes? two why not use tokens vs paying cash both of those will save you $$?

I think that Septa needs to go and learn from NYC transit. They have ezpass for transit riders.

I think Septa needs a complete overhaul of the system and that people need to go and look at the best systems in the world and take notes and make progress.

The fact that many train stations now no longer have the ticket machines and force you to buy your ticket on the train right there is proof they are in it for the most $ they can make.

Service in the suburbs could be improved and imagine the environmental impact if Septa was more accessible.

When you pay your fare to get on a bus or el, it should pay for you to get to your destination. You can get on the el in Frankford and ride all the way to 69th St. for the base fare. Why should you have to pay extra just because you might have to change buses, to get to where you are going? The rides on the two buses combined could be a lot less miles than riding the el from one end to the other. At one time, these transfers were free. There are a lot of people that don't use Septa everyday, so buying a weekly pass would not be cost effective for them. I say keep the transfers, to pay an extra 60 cents to complete your ride is better than paying a complete new fare just because you have to change buses. Septa is now getting more money from the State. Stop being greedy, With this extra money coming in I really think that all of the fare increases should be put back to where they were. Every time Septa raises their rates, they lose riders, so with the extra money they are getting now, they should just leave everything the way it was.

I rode SEPTA for many years, busses, El's and the train. I complained about something almost daily. I remember with a great deal of fondness getting gray slushed by many buses. I live in Orlando now. Our public transportation system is abysmal. Buses run once every hour, and there are not any bus routes in my very populated area.

I found the monthly passes to be a great convenience.

It is a shame on SEPTA that it had to a Judge (and God Bless them)to see such drastic actions would hurt our citizens. Look;
SEPTA folks said due to a soft spot at Hunting park and Broad ST, a subway line travling along Roosevelt Blvd to South Hampton Road could not happen. I would love to see a mono-rail type system along the blvd. This would greatly help with all the traffic congestion. Maybe in the long with bringing more people to our city with the expansion of the Convention center, run put extra revenue in SEPTA's pocket.

I would love to see a future plan for Philadelphia be set were getting around in the city was public transportation only. You would still have streets for emergency vehicles and things but to take away the traffic downtown to reduce pollution.
I don't know if it would ever happen but it is interesting to think about.

I agree that you should have one cost to get from point a to point b. Septa could make a ticket system and set prices that you buy a ticket that goes through some type of bar code reader and you swipe it on each form of transportation you use. The ticket could be purchased in advance online or at certain locations vs doing paper transfers.
