Dear Friends,

Some leaders in the Democratic Party are playing with fire. They think that they can betray the will of millions of voters--and choose Hillary Clinton as the nominee, regardless of whether or not she is the choice of the voters. We can't let this happen. It would be the largest disenfranchisement in modern history, and it would mean the Democratic Party giving their stamp of approval to a clear and consistent pattern of race-baiting by the Clinton campaign.

If we make our voices heard, we can stop it. Please join us in signing an open letter to leaders in the Democratic Party -- DNC Chair Howard Dean, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and all superdelegates -- demanding that they reject an outcome that involves trampling voting rights and legitimizing the politics of division and fear:

http://www.colorofchange.org/dems/?id=1999-523825a>

By the time the last vote is cast on June 3rd under the rules of the Democratic Party, it's unlikely Hillary Clinton will beat Barack Obama among voters. But there's a chance that superdelegates will hand Clinton the nomination anyway.

This would be a shocking attack on democracy, and it would destroy the Democratic party's credibility on protecting the right to vote. Black people have a long history of fighting against voter suppression, and now the Democratic Party will be the enemy in that fight. As bad as that would be, there's another reason that a coup by party insiders would threaten racial progress.

Senator Clinton's plan to have superdelegates hand her the nomination doesn't make sense without a parallel strategy -- she has to stoke enough division and race-based fear among Democratic voters to convince superdelegates that white voters will not vote for Senator Obama in the general election. One of Clinton's key arguments to superdelegates is that America won't elect a Black man, and therefore she's the better choice for Democrats to beat John McCain. While she makes that argument in private to superdelegates, in public Clinton's campaign and her surrogates are doing everything they can to damage Barack Obama by ginning up fear and division and playing to the worst instincts of our society. It's an insult to Black people and all Americans, Obama and Clinton supporters alike.

The pattern has been clear and consistent to some party leaders. Last week, according to the Washington Post, James Clyburn -- who as House Majority Whip remains neutral and is the highest ranking Black member of Congress -- accused the Clintons of marginalizing Black voters. Referring to this strategy in another interview, Clyburn said that "Nothing in this campaign has been by accident."

Congressman Clyburn warned that "black people are incensed" over the divisiveness of the Clinton strategy and that it threatens an irreparable breach between Black people and the Democratic Party. He's right. And if superdelegates hand Clinton a victory despite her defeat among voters, they will be condoning and rewarding that strategy.

Some party leaders have expressed strong concern about superdelegates overruling voters. But as a whole, superdelegates have not made it clear that they will respect the will of voters. Today, we want to send a clear, unequivocal message to superdelegates and other party leaders: Reject the idea that the nomination can be won with a strategy that preys on racism, sows division, and disenfranchises millions of voters.

No matter what happens in the Democrats process for choosing a candidate will result in racial tension. If Obama wins the popular vote and the "Superdelegates" overturn the "people voice" every American city will riot. The Democrats will not allow this. In the event that Hillary wins the popular vote, the Obama supporters are going to view this as a "White conspiracy" and riot. This is an alarming situation that the DNC is causing that will end in bloodshed.

to jeebs1707,
that's just what it is a conspiracy. It's a darn shame this election is merely nothing but racial undertones and underhandness. It started out very exciting to see a woman and an african american man running for the highest office in this country. Now, it turning into a cat and dog fight. The news media is very disappointing. I always THOUGHT the news medias are suppose to be non-bias and give the facts to the people. Most of these, I guess you would call them journalists are nothing more than people pushing their views on people who cannot think for themselves without their help. So sad.. Fox news wants a republican no matter what it costs the american people. They expressed this every day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All you see is Rev. Wright flashed across the screen as a tyrant and devil. Nothing is said about John Hagee. This man said Katrina happened because of gays. Now how dumb, stupid, prejudice and idiotic is that? Rev. Wright was in his own church reciting what someone else said, and that 30 sec. clip is played over and over again. He gave his opinion as John Hagee but he and Sen. Obama are crucified because of it. Those same people that scream Rev. Wright is a devil and what ever negative words you can think of, are the same people that can't stand the fact that a womam or an african american could possibly be president of this country. And with this Rev. Wright thing, I truly believe in my heart that one of the candidates running (I won't say who I believe) are the ones who masterminded this whole scheme using Rev. Wright to bri

contd. (I won't say who I believe) are the ones who masterminded this whole scheme using Rev. Wright to bring down Sen. Obama. I really thought this country was finally moving ahead but Mr. Obama's running has brought out the racial hatred that still exists in this country. This country has always been ready for a woman or a person of color to be president if americans judged people by their character and intelligence and not by their sex or the color of their skin. If asked, they will so, oh color or sex doesn't matter but when they are behind that closed curtain on voting day, believe me it matters greatly to them. It really saddens me how this great country can be so cruel to its own people. Yet they holler, every human being is offered the same opportunities and treated equally. How false is that. I know who I will cast my vote for in November. It won't be based on sex or color. It will be based on character, intelligence and the honesty that I feel the candidate offers. The news media can and will not sway me for one minute. My own intelligence will be my guide. And if the person who I want is not picked to run in November, I will back the other person in the party in November because the thought of another 4 years of Bush scares me to death. I hope that all democrats whom ever person they are voting for, if that person does not win to run in November, please be wise and unprejudice to vote for the person remaining no matter if that person is a white female or african american man. Our lives and children lives depend on it.

It's actually humorous to see two Democrats beating each other up in ways usually reserved for the GOP. It exposes what they are really like and how quickly they will abandon something or someone for the next latest and greatest fad. The Clintons could do no wrong, and now the media, the party and many of their suupporters have left them in the dust. I guess there is justice in the world.

Comparing Wright to Hagee shows a lack of ones knowledge of the facts and perspective. Hagee, while not my favorite person, is not running around preaching hate. He's trying to stand up for the little guy, Israel, which the Scripture says one will be blessed if they bless Israel and will be cursed if they curse Israel.

As for gays, Hagee doesn't hate gays! He hates their behavior because the same God who he preaches about also hates this behavior and destroyed two cities as a result of this unchecked behavior. God repeatedly condemns homosexuality as well as adultery, fornication, lying, stealing and so on in both the Old and New Testaments. The good news is that while none of us is perfect, this is why we need the blood of Jesus to cover us to reconcile us to God. There is forgiveness if we repent. There is not if we refuse to repent and change our ways.

I don't agree with him that Katrina was brought on us because of gays. But there certainly is a Scriptural precedent for the destruction of a city due to immoral behavior, so he's not that far off his rocker to be frank. He doesn't approve of persecuting gays, hurting them or taking away their rights. But he does opp

oppose their behavior being legitimized as normal, giving them special rights that condone this behavior in society. And that's because God also detests this behavior, something which seems to have been lost in the debate now that so-called expert psychiatrists and doctors have determined it must be genetic or hereditary. It's not, it's a choice. Are certain people more pre-disposed to this behavior than others? Yes, just like with alchohol or gambling. But it's a choice, not a gene. Why would anyone want to stop making this choice if they were convinced it's not a choice and if they didn't know the God who created them did not approve of this behavior? They wouldn't, and that's the point! Someone has to speak up, even at the risk of being attacked, even by other Christians. And it's not hate.

Now what Rev. Wright has said, much of that clearly falls in the hate category. If he were preaching Christ, he'd be preaching forgiveness and mercy. He'd be asking for God to have mercy on America, not condemn it. He has many unresolved personal issues, it seems, and spews this vile hatred from the pulpit, which does nothing to restore or repair, but keeps people at odds with one another and keeps people hostage in a victim mentality rather than to help them reach out and overcome and make something of their lives rather than depending on others for everything and blaming everyone else for their plight rather than looking in the mirror.

Bias in the media? Looks like Obama supporters are experiencing what republicans have had to deal with for years.

Conspiracy? I don't but that for a second. This is politics as usual in our country. Just because a black man is taking some heat, doesen't mean that people are conspiring to cause it. The stuff that Obama has to deal with pales in comparison to how the media has attacked President Bush.

"This man said Katrina happened because of gays. Now how dumb, stupid, prejudice and idiotic is that?"........Just as dumb, stupid, prejudice and idiotic as Spike Lee Saying that Bush blew holes the levees.

My comment is more a statement about the black voter believing there is an "entitlement" for Obama's election. Let's face facts, in an effort to promote ethnocentric agenda, most blacks will vote for Barak Obama regardless of his qualifications. They will vote based on skin color. What the black community fails to recognise is that, if elected, Barak Obama will be so inept, he will set the stage for far more racial problems. He will set race relation back by 40 years. It would be different if he had any qualifications to be President(other than his skin color). The mere fact that the blacks belief that Obama is "The One" and this should supercede the democratic process and violence could occur if he loses the nomination is an abominable statement about politics in America.

If Obama were white, none of this mess would be existing. I've been voting for whites all my adult life and that was fine with the masses. Now, I vote for a black man and I'm voting because of his color. I intentionally had my mind and vote set for John Edwards. And you know he's white. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. My choice was between Obama and Hillary. I listened to both and because Obama talked greatly about the races coming together that's what got my vote. I would LOVE to see the day that a man or woman is not judged by their sex or the color of their skin, aren't you? Oh and another tid bit, when Jesse Jackson was running, I didn't vote for him. You see, I don't decide my vote by color but what I think the person has to offer. And Hagee is just as nuts as you say Wright is. They both have issues that are conflicting. I admit it, can you? An who knows, if Obama does get the nomination, maybe, just maybe the scab of hatred and bigotry will be exposed and like a sore, start to heal. Don't you hope so?

I'd like to begin by thanking everyone who has commented on this topic for your views. Although I don't agree with everyones blog in its' entirety, I do find comments that I could relate with from them all. Personally, I don't agree with Wright, or Hagee. I think they both are hungry for media attention for their own financial gain. I agree that many "Black" people support Barrack Obama solely based on his race. I don't agree with it, but it's a reality. But, there are also many "Black" people that support Obama based on his crudentials and qualifications as I do. Whether you want to admit it or not, Barrack Obama is much more qualified to lead this country than both Clinton and McCain. Barrack Obama is not only a brilliant, well educated, and articulate. He also knows what the majority of American people want in a hurry,..."CHANGE". And, the reason why I know that he is so sincere about this "change" he talks about is because he is a product of the American story. "Rags to Riches". He wasn't born with a "silver" spoon or a "golden" plate. He is familiar with what hope and determination can do for you. No, his experience doesn't come from halls of Washington D.C.. His experience comes from the being a product of what he speaks about. He knows what the struggles of poverty are about. He knows what it feels like to be oppressed because of race. I don't think that it's a wrong to choose to support Hillary Clinton or John McCain, I just believe that Barrack Obama is the better choice hands down. jeebs1707, Pennsauken N.J.

jeebs1707,
I would love to see people of all races in this country come together and rid themselves of this hate and bigotry. From the many blogs that I read, some people ARE growing but there are still many, many that do not want change in any way, shape or form. Many still carry the master/slave mentality. How and can this mentality ever be shed?

Barak is a Jr. Senator from Illinois who has never ever had one of his bill put into law. He has virtually ZERO international experience and he is THE MOST LIBERAL SENATOR IN THE SENATE. He, in fact is so new that there is not one person who can honestly vote on his record. The is none. His buddies include Bill Ayers (terrorist) and Reverend ("hate mongerer" Wright. Thats just for starters....need I write more? I could go on all day. A vote for Obama can only be justified by admitting that it's really a vote for skin color.

I agree that the ultimate desire of many is to witness a racially equal America. Although that is not our reality, it's nice to imagine, isn't it? I believe that the base or foundation of getting to this diversely unified existence is for non-white (Black,Hispanic,Asian etc.)citizens to treat each other with the respect that is expected from Caucasian-Americans. I think that "Black" America especially, has to set the terms and standards for their on race by loving and respecting each other. I think that "Black" people have become content with the repetitive display of physical violence, and verbal abuse that is displayed toward each other. Even when I try to disect the reasoning behind "Black" people calling themselves the "N" word, I fail to come up with a logical explaination. To use a word that "Blacks" have faught for so long to do away with and for many to have loss their lives in the midst of, only bestows the disregard and self-hate for ourselves. And, in turn, opens the door of invitation to be disrespected by other races. No, I don't think that "Black" Americans are treated (as a whole) equally as "White" Americans. But, I also think that "Black" people are too fast to point the finger and post the blame at others to somehow justify or down-play their own misfortunes or misdeeds. When will the "change" come? Short question...long answer. Before "Black" people can began expected reporations for the lack of equality we are so quick to acknowledge, we must first salvage and repair the damage that has already torn the roots of our unification. jeebs1707 Pennsauken,

Tell me movealready, what exactly has our great, experienced President Bush done for this country besides, the Iraq war, debt, oil prices out of this world just to name a few. Please tell me what this great experienced man has done? I must be missing something.
Most Americans are left with no other choice than to have someone who doesn't have the EXPERIENCE like Bush to work with the people of this country on putting this country back on track. Mr. Obama sure CANNOT do any worse than the Great Bush. Don't get me started on Mr. McCain. Bless his soul but he just needs to sit down, get on his wife's ship and enjoy the good life.
I'm not going to justify the relationship that Barack has or had with his pastor. That's between he and Rev. Wright. As far as hate mongerer, from your words, you seem pretty experienced in that field yourself. But, the so-called relationship he has or had with Mr. Ayers was a working relationship. I know you would never believe it. You'd perfer to believe the news media and you would rather think of the worst of Mr. Obama anyway. Even if he would take a lie detector test and passed, you and people like you would say the machine malfunctioned. Hillary and her husband would back up my statement. Mr. Clinton pardoned the man. Do you think Mr. Obama was with him back in the 60's doing what he did? Oh, maybe not. Obama was more than likely sitting at his desk in his 3rd grade classroom.
And to jeebs1707, you are right, racial equality seems more of a myth than a reality, ask movealready.

You are way off base, you have NEVER,EVER heard me utter or write one word of hate. I dislike OBAMA, so what. Am I not saying anything that is not true. HE IS THE MOST LIBERAL SENATOR IN THE SENATE!!! BAR NONE! Surely somebody who is so liberal can't represent a country where most of the inhabitants are centrists. HE HAS A PICTURE OF CHE IN SOME OF HIS ADS. Che is a socialist/marxist who has murdered hundreds of thousands of people. Birds of a feather flock together. Obama is comfortable with Rev. Wright and bil Ayers. Obama would have ou believe the he absorbed none of RvD. Wrights hate speech in 20yrs. I believe he is lying. Nobody stays with a church for 20 yrs if they don't buy what their selling. Rvd. Wright married them for crying out loud. But go ahead, vote for Obama. He will destroy America, and although you hate America, and how horrible it is, just remember, it is the best country in the world bar none.

Excuse me, I Do NOT HATE AMERICA. Nowhere in my blog did I hint or let alone mention I hated America. This country is one of the finest in the world even with its many flaws. What I did say was no President can be bad as Bush. Even his own republican party would agree. That's why McCain is trying to distant himself from Bush as far as possible. It's amazing how you know Mr. Obama so well. It really is amazing. But, like me, I guess when you dislike someone (which I certainly dislike Bush) a person seems to know a lot about that person. You get your information from the news media, I get mine from the economy, gas prices and the war in Iraq.

Tell me, you don't think that every man, woman and child in this country should not have healthcare? Only those that can afford health coverage should have it? Is that what you're saying? Don't worry, you will still live your American dream. There will still be the rich and the poor. The only difference, everyone no matter if you're black or white, rich or poor, will be able to have proper medical treatment. If you want to call that socialist, so be it, I call it being humane. There are thousands of hard working people
whose jobs don't supply health coverage and those people do not make enough money to afford individual healthcare. So you think these people should not have any kind of coverage? Call me liberal, I call it helping my neighbor. I hope McCain if elected, will look out for all people, not just the well off. If he's elected, I hope he will be president to all Americans.
