Now we get to see the power of the web, doing the job the MSM should but won't.

Eagles Gatherd surronding the anti-war protesters

Eagles guarding the veitnam war memorial.

Part of a live thread on the protest:
3:14 ..... Getting down to the meat of things now .... An anti-war spokeswoman is at the mic ...... someone's step-mother ..... Melida Arredondo .... Gold Star Families .... no jacket. Layered in sweaters, though. Talking about citizenship for soldiers ... how flag represents the blood of gold star families .... now talking about breast-feeding ....
folks are nutso. Now it's undocumented immigrants. Uh huh. Invites everyone to walk the halls of congress ----- poof.
Carlos Arrendondo is now speaking for Gold Star Families ... lost his son in Iraq ... cameras cut to hillside -- it is empty. Protesters have left the area ... a few remain in front of podium .... he's referring to the Constitution -- not sure what he is saying ....
World Can't Wait! rep rattles off a list of topics .... war, katrina, peace, etc., with call for impeachment .... condemns all Democrat candidates (even Hillary) .... calls for more protests and resistence .... warns we ain't seen nothin' yet (close) when troops refuse to fight blah blah blah .... crowd is getting weak .... signs can't be THAT heavy, can they?
Older lady at the mic .... demanding apology from Bush for something .... offers a list of other demands .... Efia Nwangaza from "Not in Our Name" --- where the hell do they find these people?????
A.N.S.W.E.R. coord ..... thanks those who remain for facing the cold .... Brian Becker. Camera is scanning the crowd .... some weirdos .... claim to fame: they're being broadcast live on C-Span and Arabian TV (spelling offered later).
Mahdi Bray is back at the mic ..... must have been some cancellations. Boring. Quotes words from an old song .... "I don't wanna be right" .... Guess what? You ain't right, brother.
Gonna surf and find out what is going on in the real world.
3:32: announcement ... someone lost his wallet .... I bet.
A very loud woman is shouting into the mic .... something about imperialists .... denouncing the war .... wearing a headband .... ears have to be frozen. Leah Obias of JusticeNotWar in Philippines .... It has to be warmer in the Philippines. Why is she on that podium freezing her buns off? No one can understand her. The crowd is leaving .... Talk about getting a cold shoulder. (snicker)
I bet I'm the only one blogging this flop.
Good. Someone needs to watch this. After all ------- C-SPAN thought it important enough to broadcast live. I'm sure the Eagle Gathering is more eventful. And it is definitely better attended!!!
How embarrassing for ANSWER et al.
Now someone from Haiti. Bet he hates being up there in that cold weather .... just said it was 80 degrees when he left home this morning. Ben Depuy. Former Ambassador .... not sure to what or whom. He's not wearing shorts, so he's probably not an actor from one of those blue water commercials. And he's having trouble with his words. White scraggley beard .... shades .... ball cap ... talking about money Bush pledged to his country -- now quoting Chavez. So let Chavez fund his country. Jerk.
Chuck Kauffman ... Nicaragua Network Co-Cordinator. What the heck --- did they have more cancellations? No wonder the crowd is leaving.
So am I.
Some great shots of our guys! And a mention that FNC mike was spit upon-the ususual infantile behavior from these parasites. I forget who the FNC gal was but she said "usual behavior from the lefties"! Go FNC!
The protesters were much more polite than I've ever seen them before. I'm sure having a large number of responsible adults (GOE’ers) watching their every move and countering their ridiculous chants took down their courage a notch or two. In one case, a protester, with wife, a 12-year old daughter and a toddler in a stroller, flipped the bird to the vets around me. They started telling him he should be ashamed of doing that in front of his little girl. The dad got mad, but the look of realization on the girl's face was priceless. She's not daddy's little girl anymore, I think.
One thing I noticed was quite a few muslims, mostly black, with their little head covers and the women in burkas. One black muslim was itching to pick a fight with me but the cop got between us. I saw him later and he was still looking suspicious. Another group was yelling at us from behind a fence, one guy grabbing his crotch, and suddenly a group of Patriots showed up behind these 3 guys and they quickly picked up their signs and scurried away.
FNC has been doing a good job of reporting both sides...
Agree! Finally, we're getting fair coverage. FNC reporter said both sides had about the same number of people.
I called and emailed Fox to say thank you for having the courage to show the pro-troop, pro-America side. Today, they lived up to their motto....fair and balanced!
This one brought a tear of pride to my eye.
The Eagles appeared to be about 2000 at around 1200 when I went from the rally site to the Memorial. While more would have been better the ratio was intimidating as they had to pass thru the "hard faced old men" who showed the same fighting spirit they had as young men in that now distant Asian War. I saw no violence but the moonbats saw that a lot of their fellow citizens do NOT agree with them and will not allow the young men fighting for us in SW Asia to be stabbed in the back the way they were in Vietnam. One of our speakers at the rally made that point ("We have your back"). Sounds like a bumper sticker to me... (GOE... We have your back... stand fast!).
My other impression is of the faith and courage of those who came to DC for the GOE. It was bitter cold... I watch a vet in motorcycle club leather (there were a lot as you can see in some of the posted photos) shake so bad from the cold he could not light a cigarette. There were also a lot walking with canes and several in wheel chairs including a few from Walter Reed or Bethesda who were well cared for. God and Jesus were present among the Eagles and both were acknowledged by men who have leaned on them in battle. The park service police were professional. They enforced good order but seemed happy we were there (overheard from a policeman after the protesters parade... "thank you for defending the Wall"). I am glad I went and proud to have been associated with brothers and sisters who love God, country, and each other in a way that the so-called protesters will never comprehend.
"WE HAVE YOUR BACK BROTHERS... SOLDIER ON!"
I JUST READ THE AP write up...just unbelievable...
"thousands of anti war demonstrators...' a whole article and ONE LINE on the pro war GOE‘ers.”
I give up!
"God bless you! And, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, a million times THANK YOU for ONCE AGAIN defending us and standing up for our great country! Welcome home and please know that you and all veterans and military now serving are appreciated by millions of Americans."
This has been a VERY poignant day for all Vietnam Veterans.
I've watched over the years as they've been denigrated, despised, and derogated....
NO MORE.
What is most striking for me are the SMILES on those stern faces.
It's about frikkin' TIME....!!!!
This country will NEVER repay the debt owed to these fine men and women.
A whole generation....discarded....abandoned....cast out.
Now, THAT is what I call a "war crime"....!!!
[USN, 1967-70, Project SHAD/112]
Anywho, it was a GREAT day, and EVERY single Vet I came across had such a look of pride. This is the type of homecoming they SHOULD have had, but were robbed of it. Well... NO MORE. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
I couldn't be happier about those looks of pride. And the homecoming, which some Vietnam vets truly felt for the first time yesterday. Something wonderful happened to the spirit of this Nation yesterday.
Thank you each and all for being there, and for reporting though tired, cold and muddy....:-)
THIS IS THE REAL AMERICA!

Anti-war and Pro-troop groups are gathering in D.C. on March 17th to protest.
Many don't believe that there are even people left that even support the troops and the war in Iraq. They couldn't be more wrong. The following will prove my point---
Berlin residents to protect monuments
By: Jason Vallee, Herald Staff
03/16/2007
BERLIN - In recent years, veterans have felt disrespected as war and recognition monuments in Washington, D.C., have been defaced by individuals who have joined in the Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) annual March, but several residents have said they won't let it happen again.
This Saturday, a group of individuals led by former Marine and Berlin resident Salvatore Sena will go to Washington to protect the monuments and protest any attempts to deface the property by forming a human wall, joining hand in hand with others from across the nation and even Canada.
"Word has come around that a group of extremists has plans to exercise their freedom of speech and protest the war by defacing national monuments," Sena said in an e-mail correspondence with The Herald. "I feel that enough is enough and that's why I will be joining my fellow Americans in guarding and protecting our national monuments in D.C."
The decision to provide a protective human shield around the monuments came after several individuals who had marched in the anti-war protests held in March 2006 turned to vandalism during the event, causing damage to the Vietnam Memorial through what they have said was "an act of freedom of speech" in opposition to war efforts.
Sena said he and other participants from the Berlin area, several being members of the Marine Corps League, are traveling to the site to take part in a peaceful protest of their march with a group known as the Gathering of Eagles.
The group will include individuals from across the United States and veteran soldiers currently residing in Canada. These participants come from all walks of life including organizations such as the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Riders, Patriot Guard Riders, National Order of the Purple Heart, Gold Star and Blue Star Mothers, and various veterans' groups and POW organizations.

Good morning, Eagles!
It’s only 2 days to mission launch, and most of the GOE volunteers are on their way to Washington. As a result, our home base here at the website is not as protected as it once was. The antiwar Communists are attacking the site in force with vulgarity, threats, and whatever else they can come up with to disrupt and destroy our mission.
As a result, we have decided to close down registration to both the site and the forum. If you already have a username for the forum or website, then you will still be able to post comments just fine. If you do NOT have a username, you will be able to read the articles and navigate the site all you want, but you will not be able to post a comment.
We apologize, but we need to cover the flank. We’ll see you in 2 days at the Wall!

Help me spread the word. Many of our troops are upset with congress on the latest resolution against a troop surge and also whith the lack of good news reported on by the media. They are so upset they have created a web site called Appeal for Courage. In it they have started a petition to present to congress. It is called an appeal for redress. The turn out on it has not been that great on it yet but I wonder how many soldiers know about it. It has grown from 99 this morning to 111 this evening. If you know any active duty personel please let them know the site excists. Let them decide if they would like to sign it. Just at least let them know its there.
This site is an Appeal For Redress in support of our mission in Iraq.
An Appeal For Redress is an authorized means for active duty military to submit a grievance to Congress. It can be signed by Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard military personnel.
It is authorized by
DoD Directive 1325.6 and
DoD Directive 7050.6.
The wording of the Appeal for Redress is:
As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home. The War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack.
If you are active duty, reservist or national guard, please
Sign this Appeal.
Most service members fully support the war in Iraq and feel calls to retreat by Congress and attacks by our media on our conduct and mission act to motivate our enemy while demoralizing our support at home, directly increasing the threat we face and resulting in greater American casualties. This Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to Congress to fully support us and actively oppose media attacks on our mission and our morale.
This Appeal will be delivered to members of Congress.
Nature of Grievance:
- Emphasis of coalition failures while ignoring our successes gives encouragement and motivation to enemies, increasing personal risk and lengthening the war.
- Criticism of military motives and strategy, specifically calls for withdrawal without providing alternatives, demoralizes fellow service members and the American public depended upon for support.

British TV documentary reveals Islamic preaching of hatred against Jews and Christians(and women).
Get this:In an excerpt on the subject of women, the documentary shows Muslim leaders saying, “Allah has created the woman – even if she gets a Ph.D. – deficient. Her intellect is incomplete, deficient. She may be suffering from hormones that will make her emotional. It takes two witnesses of a woman to equal the one witness of the man.”
Hey you gals out there, how do you like that one? Sounds more like male Chauvenism.
The videos, which were mostly recorded at a mosque in the Green Lane in Birmingham, show a local iman exhorting Muslims on the treatment of their daughters: “By the age of ten, it becomes an obligation on us to force her to wear hijab, and if she doesn’t wear hijab, we hit her.”
“Men are in charge of women,” it continued. “Wherever he goes she should follow him, and she shouldn’t be allowed leave the house without his permission.”
Next joke:
The documentary also shows preaching about Western democracy: “You have to live like a state within a state until you take over;” “We want the laws of Islam to be practiced; we want to do away with the man-made laws.” “Allah has decreed this thing, that I am going to be dominant. The dominance of course is a political dominance.”
Hamas and Hezbula have cells here in the U.S. Think about it.

The American Media building in Boca Raton Florida has finally been cleaned and cleared to open. It’s hard to believe it has taken this long to clean. It goes to show ya how potent the stuff is.
The other bothersome thing is the simple fact that the mailer still has not been figured out. He probably got out of the country a long time ago. I just can’t believe they still have no clue at all.
After all this time I suppose it’s unsolvable.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani Files Candidacy Statement for 2008 Race
Monday, February 05, 2007
WASHINGTON — Making the most of his front-runner status, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Monday moved closer to a 2008 campaign for president, adjusting his paperwork to file a "statement of candidacy" with the Federal Election Commission.
As a result, Giuliani remains in the "exploratory" stage, but the removal of words like "testing the waters" from his filings puts him in full swing to win the Republican nomination to be president.
Giuliani, who earned the title "America's mayor" for his response to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, now has more legal room to raise and spend money. The decision to go full throttle into the 2008 race comes earlier than he had planned and sends a signal to skeptics that he is serious about a candidacy.
In fact, Giuliani had wanted to hold off making an announcement for candidacy, but with the growing field of Republican candidates diverting attention far and wide, Giuliani was forced to
In the most recent FOX News poll, 34 percent of registered voters surveyed said they would vote for Giuliani in the 2008 GOP primary compared to 22 percent for McCain and 3 percent for Romney. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich won 15 percent of that vote. With 65 percent, Giuliani also was at the top of the list of candidates who voters said they would be at least somewhat comfortable with as president.
The shift in campaign organization, however slight, is an indication that Giuliani likes the response he's received as he gauges support while traveling the country.
Behind the scenes, Giuliani has been busy supplementing his cadre of New York loyalists with Washington-savvy political operatives, establishing a fundraising network and setting up a campaign headquarters — signs of a campaign moving forward.
He is at odds with the Republican National Committee platform plank that opposes a right to abortion. While he doesn't support gay marriage per se, he has not come out against it and has supported lesser legal rights, like civil unions, for gay couples.
He was a former U.S. attorney, leading campaigns against organized crime and corruption. He spent two years as the Justice Department's No. 3 post, overseeing all U.S. attorneys, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the U.S. Marshals Service. The Brooklyn native was first elected New York's mayor in 1993.
FOX News' Carl Cameron and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani Files Candidacy Statement for 2008 Race
On abortion he does not even support a ban on partial birth abortion.
Personally I’ll take Newt over Rudy. Rudy does support the Iraq war though and thinks it was necessary

Intelligence estimate warns on quick Iraq pullout
By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
February 3, 2007
A new National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq warns that pulling U.S. troops out of the country too soon would lead to a collapse of the Iraqi military, outside intervention and the creation of safe havens for al Qaeda terrorists.
An unclassified summary of the 90-page estimate, "Prospects for Iraq's Stability: A Challenging Road Ahead," stated that U.S. and allied troops "remain an essential stabilizing element in Iraq."
"If coalition forces were withdrawn rapidly, ... we judge that this almost certainly would lead to a significant increase in the scale and scope of sectarian conflict in Iraq, intensify Sunni resistance to the Iraqi government and have adverse consequences for national reconciliation," the report stated.
The conclusion is a blow to Iraq war critics in Congress and elsewhere who are advocating a pullout of U.S. troops.
"If such a rapid withdrawal were to take place, we judge that the [Iraqi Security Force] would be unlikely to survive as a non-sectarian national institution; neighboring countries ... might intervene openly in the conflict; massive civilian casualties and forced population displacement would be probable," the report stated.
Also, the al Qaeda terrorist group in Iraq would try to "use parts of the country -- particularly al-Anbar province -- to plan increased attacks in and outside of Iraq."
Additionally, Turkey could launch a military incursion if there were no U.S. or allied troops to block Kurdish attempts to control northern Iraq, according to the report.
White House National Security Adviser Stephen J. Hadley said President Bush agreed with the report's conclusion about the danger of removing troops too rapidly.
"That's why the president concluded that while the current strategy was not working and it was a prescription for slow failure, an American withdrawal or stepping back now would be a prescription for fast failure and a chaos that would envelop not only Iraq but also the region and could potentially, by giving al Qaeda a safe haven in Iraq, result in risk and threats to the United States," Mr. Hadley said.
The estimate, a consensus of 16 U.S. intelligence agencies that was ordered by members of Congress, presents a pessimistic view of the prospects for stabilizing Iraq and halting the growing violence over the next 12 to 18 months.
Unless the trends are reversed in that time, "we assess that the overall security situation will continue to deteriorate at rates comparable to the latter part of 2006," the report stated.
However, it stated, the Iraqi military and police will be "hard-pressed" over the next 18 months to take on greater security roles or operate alone against Shi'ite militias.

Intelligence estimate warns on quick Iraq pullout

General Casey said of the Iraqi troops "They work better when they are with us." Meaning that when we back them up and give direction as to how to accomplish any given mission they do well. That is why I support the troop surge. The more of our support the better they work with us!

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) has opened a double digit lead over over Senator John McCain (news, bio, voting record) (R) in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination. Giuliani now earns 29% of the vote, little changed from 30% a week ago and 28% two weeks ago. McCain (R) is now supported by 19% of Likely GOP Primary voters, down from 22% a week ago.
While McCain has slipped a bit, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has gained a few points and is now within three percentage points of McCain. Among Very Conservative voters, Gingrich is currently the top choice.
Former Massachusetts Mitt Romney earns support from 8%. Senator Sam Brownback (news, bio, voting record) attracts 3%. Former Governor Mike Huckabee and Senator Chuck Hagel (news, bio, voting record) are supported by 1%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate while 19% are not sure.
Giuliani, in addition to consistently leading in polls for the GOP nomination, also leads in general election match-ups against every Democrat including Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Barack Obama, former Senator John Edwards, and former Vice President Al Gore. However, many pundits doubt that the former Mayor of New York can actually win the nomination. Those who say Giuliani cannot win point to his views on key social issues and his own lifestyle which includes multiple marriages and divorces. Others say that Giuliani's leadership quotient and charisma will overcome those points for Republicans fearful of seeing a Democrat in the White House.
While McCain continues to hold a solid second place in this polling, a separate survey shows he has lost ground in general election match-ups. In fact, for the first time in any Rasmussen Reports polling, McCain has fallen behind a Democratic competitor, trailing both Illinois Senator Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards. A Clinton-McCain match-up is a toss-up at this point.
McCain may be hampered by the situation in Iraq (considered the most important issue by voters). His personal favorability ratings have declined from 59% in December to 52% in January. Most Americans believe we should be reducing the number of U.S. troops fighting in that country while McCain supports the President's call for more troops.
See a summary of all match-ups along with favorability ratings and perceptions of the candidates' ideology. A summary is also provided for Democratic contenders.
This national telephone survey of 579 Likely Republican Primary Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports January 22-25, 2007. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
Rasmussen Reports is an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information.
2008 GOP Primary: Giuliani 29% McCain 19% Gingrich 16%
Ok, I'm going to give myself away here:Of the three listed here, I'll take Newt.
Rudy is an extreem RINO.
McCain is a regular RINO.
