Those that are law abiding citizens will always abide by any gun law that is put into place.

What many don't understand is that the scum will get their guns from a back alley gun dealers. So they don't really care about a gun law.
You could put the toughest gun law on the books in Philadelphia, but unless you are going to build a wall around Philadelphia to keep the guns from getting in, and the people from going outside to get the guns, the laws are not worth anything.

And with one of the best DAs, we still have those like Mumia who murdered Officer Daniel Faulkner and John Lewis who murdered Officer Charles Cassidy still getting their 3 hots and a cot, when they should have received that lethal injection by now. No matter how hard the police and the DA work to bring about justice in these situations, you have these sympathizers who want to support the criminals in these cases.

Now with the murder of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski by worthless scum - Howard Cain, Levon T. Warner, and Eric DeShann Floyd, I think they need to put on the books that if you kill a police officer in the line of duty, you get the death penalty, and if you aid the criminal, you too can get the death penalty.
John Lewis confessed (on TV, and to those that captured him in Florida). That needle should have been put in his vein already.
And HIS MOTHER KNEW that he did it and where he was going (and she was an officer of the prison system). She should lose her job, and she should be in jail

if mayor nutter really wanted to curb crime in the city he would lobby harrisburg to inact a 3 strikes and your out law.

he would also lobby harrisburg to pass strict sentencing guidelines to prevent liberal judges from being lenient on violent criminals.

he would enforce current laws to make sure convicted violent offenders are kept off the street.

all these things could be done pretty easily and within the framework of the law instead nutter chooses to grand stand and pass illegal/ unconstitutional gun laws that do nothing to stop criminals.

I have to agree with stylegirl; only law abiding citizens will follow the rules, these animals write their own rules. People who say they steal and kill because the government will not give them a job make me sick!! This is America, land of opportuntiy, not the the land of the free-loader. As an american citizen you are entitled to three things, 1) Life; 2) Liberty; 3) the PURSUIT of happiness. Nobody is entitled to anything else. These people need to earn soemthing,the probem is that they have been given everything and had to work for nothing and clearly they have NEVER been held accoutable for anything, they were back on the streets. Is is a disgrace!! The police should carry automatic weapons so that it is a fair field. Please like the men involved in this are cowards, I would love to see how tough they would be without a gun.

OMG!!! Cops can't protect themselves, and you want more legislation taking away our guns so that we can't proect our families either. That is the most ridiculious thing I've heard all day. Look, if a criminal is in my home, at night, and has gone through the effort to get past my dogs,past my door locks and my home alarm system, my assumption is that he/she is not there to have a tea party. At that moment, it's just me standing between my family and the criminals interntions. I'm not a mind reader. I'm assuming he's there to rape and kill. If I don't have my gun handy, I'll find something. I'll drop the dresser over the balcony. I'll find some way to protect my family. What would you do? Beg and plead and hope for mercy? God help your family. BTW, God is a member of the NRA.

No matter where you live, there will always be criminals who will find a way to get a hold of a gun illegally. So why make it harder for someone who is a law abiding citizen to get a gun? It's time to instill some fear in criminals by having a gun ready to protect oneself in a pinch. Send the dumbos a message: Beware Of Gunowner! Criminals will evolve into Swisscheese!

I will always feel as though guns end up in the wrong hands for the wrong reasons behind the losely made gun laws. With that being said it doesn't change the fact that brutality shouldn't be tolerated on either side of the fence. Stop giving the convicted felons a slap on the wrist if you are a repeat offender then it should be no reason why you are walking the streets with those of whom are trying to make something of themselves. It just makes it harder on us. To comment about using a gun to protect ur family you ABSOULUTELY do NOT need a SKS to protect your family. That is what the people that are serving war use to take out terrorist not someone who is breaking into your house.

Nitestarr,do you really believe that cops just kill for the hell of it? If I were a police officer I would have the attitude me or them. When someone is told to put their hands up but they reach in their pockets or under a seat of a car wouldn't you protect yourself? I don't really have the answers but I don't think stricter gun laws is it. Someone perfectly stable could have a gun and snap later down the road. Guns are so easy to come by on the streets and I don't think that will stop. We need tougher punishments thats all. People talking about letting some prisoners go because of overcrowding...WHAT??????? that is ridiculous! Kill the ones who have been sitting on death row for 20 yrs! Put our tax dollars into building bigger facilities. There are some criminals that need mental health instead of being held in a jail cell. They just need someone in charge that knows what the hell to do!
