Let it be known that the jingoistic essay attributed to David Letterman in a blog below was not written by Mr. Letterman.

Nor were the same words ever written by Jay Leno, as is claimed in another 'chain e-mail' that has made the rounds.

The essay was actually penned by this guy:

He is a conservative wingnut named Craig R. Smith who does a column for WorldNetDaily.

Of course, his name does not carry nearly the same cache as the names Letterman or Leno, so the e-mail falsely credits his words to the more famous comedians in order to attract more attention.

And gullible, naive recipients believe it without challenge -- and spread the BS across the Internet as instructed.

PLEASE NOTE: Normally, I would not post an entire blog to correct another blog. But when I attempted to quietly point out the truth in the comments section of the (
take a look at this ) blog below, my remarks were immediately deleted by that blog's author, who evidently would rather stand by a lie than to stand corrected.

Bad job on the posting of that blog!

Haven't see this, But, will keep an eye out.

I remember when there was a "rumor" out there about Pepsi making cans with the Pledge on it, but, was going to take the "under god" words out.

No truth to that internet rumor.

But, it is amazing how quickly as you put it "BS" can spread and be given undue merit.

LOL Yeah, Ive seen that one...and as always went directly to snopes, or hoaxbusters. What really cracks me up is the fact that the writer seems to think we are the ONLY country with those luxuries...geez, why do we ALWAYS have to be compared to the WORST country out there? Even my boybriend (yeah im a girl, despite my avatar...lol) grew up in the Soviet Union and LOVED his childhood....kids NEVER had to worry about trespassing on someones precious land, ANY sport you want to join....free. They had a car, and went on vacations, and he had skis and a bike and a fishing pole. So really....U.S. is cool, but its not the ONLY cool place to live
