Last week, John McCain repeatedly expressed his concerns    about Czechoslovakia -- a nation that has not existed since 1993.

This week, the esteemed Senator is worried about a border -- that has never existed!

On Monday, the evidently senile presumptive GOP presidential candidate was asked by ABC's Diane Sawyer: "Is the situation in Afghanistan precarious and urgent?"

To which McCain thoughtfully responded: "I think it's serious. . . . It's a serious situation, but there's a lot of things we need to do. We have a lot of work to do and I'm afraid it's a very hard struggle -- particularly given the situation on the Iraq/Pakistan border."

Of course, Iraq and Pakistan do not share a border.

Never have.
Never will.

(How about the situations in Gaul and Prussia, Senator?)

You nailed him on that one s-if.
Not quite the Rhodes Scholar of the Socialist Obama who claimed to have visited 57 states during "his" campaign. It makes one wonder if the Socialists plan to increase the empire.

Among the other lapses:
—“Somalia” for “Sudan” — As recounted in a reporter’s pool report from McCain’s Straight Talk Express bus on June 30, the senator said while discussing Darfur, a region of Sudan: "How can we bring pressure on the government of Somalia?"
Senior adviser Mark Salter corrected him: “Sudan.”
— "Germany” for “Russia” — A YouTube clip from last year memorializes McCain referring to Vladimir Putin of Russia – following a trip to Germany — as “President Putin of Germany.”
—This spring, McCain said troops in Iraq were “down to pre-surge levels” when in fact there were 20,000 more troops than when the surge policy began.
—Also this spring, McCain twice appeared to mistake Sunnis and Shiites, two branches of Islam that split violently.

My personal favorite:
In perhaps the most curious incident, McCain said earlier this month that as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, he had tried to confuse his captors by giving the names of Pittsburgh Steelers starting players when asked to identify his squadron mates. McCain has told the story many times over the years – but had always referred correctly to the names he gave as members of the Green Bay Packers.

And yesterday, 7/22/08, the doddering old fool put his foot in his mouth on CBS News -- once again proving he has absolutely no concept of what's going on in Iraq:

Katie Couric: Senator McCain, Senator Obama says, while the increased number of US troops contributed to increased security in Iraq, he also credits the Sunni awakening and the Shiite government going after militias. And says that there might have been improved security even without the surge. What's your response to that?

McCain: I don't know how you respond to something that is as-- such a false depiction of what actually happened. Colonel MacFarland was contacted by one of the major Sunni sheiks. Because of the surge we were able to go out and protect that sheik and others. And it began the Anbar awakening. I mean, that's just a matter of history.

In fact, the record firmly establishes the opposite: instead of being caused by the surge, the key signs of the Anbar Awakening occurred not only before that strategy was implemented, but before it was ever conceived.

Politics aside, how can ANYONE possibly feel comfortable entrusting a consistently confused octogenarian with the future of our nation?

Seriously, how can ANYONE justify their support for this obviously disoriented codger?

I will anxiously await a reply.

The truth is Mr. Ifilis: nobody (at least the vast majority of conservatives, who are not necessarily Republicans) WANTS to.

However, there are stark philosophical differences between Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain on a range of issues:

1) Judicial philosophy (Traditionalist Jurors vs Secular Progressives)
2) Fighting Terrorism & Iraq: I note that Mr. Obama has yet to actually admit that the surge has worked in Iraq, and that we ARE winning there as you illustrated already.

I would further add that a major point of the surge was to allow for polical progess to be made. In this case, Obama is trying to make a case that that would have happened whether a military surge happend or not. I think it is a very weak assumption.

3) Healthcare ideas/solutions (market solutions v government run)
4) Taxes (this one is iffy........)
5) Immigration (this one is even more iffy)

McCains choice for VP is very important. I think much more so than Obama's.

I would challenge you to do the following:

You are very good at presenting Mr. McCain in a non-favorable light. How about actually MAKING a case for Mr. Obama?

TonyAdina: good question. Don't have an answer. But, as far as looking inane, there are PLENTY of examples out there with the "Messiah" looking, well, McCain like.

AZ does a hell of a lot better the wisconsin and wisconsin taxes are much higher. Looks like McCain knows how to balance a budget, if he doesn't make President maybe we can get him for governor so we don't get anothe 7% tax hike.
