As the world awaits the ultra-harmonious "One World, One Dream" Olympics in China, the South China Morning Post is reporting that bar owners in the Beijing area are being told by authorities to refuse service to black patrons:

Bar owners near the Workers' Stadium in central Beijing say they have been forced by Public Security Bureau officials to sign pledges agreeing not to let black people enter their premises.

"Uniformed Public Security Bureau officers came into the bar recently and told me not to serve black people or Mongolians," said the co-owner of a western-style bar, who asked not to be named.

Sorry Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Michael Redd, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Carlos Boozer, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Chris Paul, Tayshaun Prince and Deron Williams...

No Tsingtao for you!!

Looks like Jason Kidd will be drinking alone this summer.

Well, might I point out that if certain people were refused service in Milwaukee we would not have as much crime. But Milwaukee does not have the b@90s to do that. Milktoast Milwaukee. Thanks, liberals.

Why does Kobe Bryant seem to have the biggest grin on this pic?

...maybe he's relieved.

desertwindrider, explain certain people. If you're saying Milwaukee would be better place if restaurants and bars refused service to blacks too, just come out and say it.

For some reason, the people on these blogs just won't get it. Not all black people are ignorant loud gangstas. There are plenty of law abiding educated blacks in Milwaukee. Is it that hard of a concept to understand, because nobody here ever acknowledges that. Yet Mark Belling seems to on plenty of occasions. I'm sure we all know he's no friend to any kind of liberal nonsense.

Good point desertwindrider!

Milwaukee would be much safer if Olympic athletes were refused service in public places.

And forced to ride in the back of the bus.

Darn liberals.

I'm boycotting watching the Olympics too.

Beijing should have never been given the Olympics in the first place. Must be all that dirty air over there clouding people's judgment.

Plus, it violates the true spirit of the Olympics.

That is blatant discrimination.

It's like saying no white athletes are allowed on the "dance" floors in the clubs.

Thank you for those encouraging words, TonyAdina.

Let me explain that I used to love everybody until I moved to Milwaukee.

I only know what I know. And I learn a lot through experience.

Did I ever mention that I am not white?

If this is true, I wonder how this will affect their trade relations with all of the African nations. Plus, has anybody tried to find the truth before jumping on the condemnation bandwagon? All I could find about this topic were forums. No news on it. NOTHING. I am sure that while China is not the nicest country to play ball with, they are not stupid enough to do something like that, but yet, one person screams fire, and lots of others follow. I think that if this were true, there would be stories in CREDIBLE news sources confirming it, and the Olympic committee, would be all over it in one way or another. But that is just me. I tend not to belive everything people tell me right away.

It would not surprise me if the story is true with their history fo human rights violations. That's why it was so hotly when China got the 08 Olympics. But I agree, I would look for the same info from other media then just blogs and chat rooms.

Blogs and chatrooms?

It was the South China Morning Post, not a blog, that originally broke this story.

FYI:

The South China Morning Post -- which I clearly attributed and linked above -- is an English-language newspaper of Hong Kong, with a circulation of 104,000. Published by the SCMP Group, the South China Morning Post has a higher print circulation than its main competitors in Hong Kong: The Standard and the International Herald Tribune.

South China Morning Post Ltd was founded in 1903. The first edition of the paper published on November 6, 1903. In November 1971, it was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. It was privatised by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation in 1987, and relisted in 1990[citation needed].

Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok's Kerry Media bought the controlling interest from News Corp in October 1993. His son, Kuok Khoon Ean, took over as chairman at the end of 1997.
