I Received this in my inbox the other day, and it raises a number of interesting questions. I would like to hear from you. about your reactions:
Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay
me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees
fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random
urine test with which I have no problem. What I Do have a problem with
is the distribution of my taxes to people who DON'T have to pass a
urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare
check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand,
I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I Do,
however, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ASS doing
drugs while I work. Can you imagine how much money the state would save
if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance
check?Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope
you all will pass it along, though. Something has to change in this
country -- and soon!

Ah, Wisconsin the only State where you can have 3 seasons in 2 and half days!
I can say without a doubt this has been the absolute weirdest January that I can remember!
Sunday we have a 100+ car pile-up in Madison. Due to warm temps and melting snow.
Monday it gets to be 60+ degrees, and we have TORNADOS!! In January, in WISCONSIN!!! and Today,
We are supposed to get more snow.
And it seems like only Saturday I had a foot of snow in my backyard!

I
hate it when
this happens!A Global Positioning System can tell a driver a
lot of things - but apparently not when a train is coming. A computer
consultant driving a rental car drove onto train tracks Wednesday using
the instructions his GPS unit gave him. A train was barreling toward
him, but he escaped in time and no one was injured.

Now is it just me or are these the 5 most disturbing words in Milwaukee?
Followed closely by "John Malan told me how to dress my child today?"
Now I am not making light of a weather persons job, I am however mocking these tag lines that some Moron in a PR department said would be great tag lines.
I would love to hear some of what you consider Ridiculous tag lines. (And they don't need to be weather related)

WASHINGTON , DC 11/30/07- Congress is considering sweeping legislation
which will provide new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With
No Abilities Act (AWNAA) is being hailed as a major legislative goal by
advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or
ambition.
"Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the
competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for
themselves in society," said California Senator Barbara Boxer. "We can
no longer stand by and allow People of Inability to be ridiculed and
passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to
grant special favors to a small group of workers simply because they
have some idea of what they are doing."
In a Capitol Hill press
conference, House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid pointed to the success of the U. S. Postal Service,
which has a long-standing policy of providing opportunity without
regard to performance. Approximately 74 percent of postal employees
lack any job skills, making this agency the single largest U. S.
employer of Persons of Inability.
Private-sector industries with
good records of nondiscrimination against the Inept include retail
sales (72%), the fast food industry (68%), and home improvement
"warehouse" stores (65%). At the state government level, the Department
of Motor Vehicles also has a great record of hiring Persons of
Inability (63%).
Under the Americans With No Abilities Act, more
than 25 million "middle man" positions will be created, with
important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus
providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance.
Mandatory
non-performance based raises and promotions will be given, to guarantee
upward mobility for even the most unremarkable employees. The
legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations that
promote a significant number of Persons of Inability into middle
management positions, and gives a tax credit to small and medium-sized
businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two
talented hires.
Finally, the AWNA Act contains tough new
measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the Nonabled
-- banning, for example, discriminatory interview questions such as "Do
you have any skills or experience which relate to this job?"
"As
a Nonabled person, I can't be expected to keep up with people who have
something going for them," said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position
as a lugnut twister at a GM plant in Flint, Michigan , due to her lack
of any discernible job skills. "This new law should really help people
like me." With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other
untalented citizens will finally see some light at the end of the
tunnel.
Said Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy: "As a Senator
With No Abilities, I believe the same privileges that elected officials
enjoy ought to be extended to every American with No Abilities. It is
our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen,
regardless of his or her inadequacy, with some sort of space to take up
in this great nation."

Boy where do I start with all the problems I see coming with this…
1.
Hansen
said the proposal was inspired by a report from the Institute for
Wisconsin’s Future, a liberal think tank in Milwaukee that has claimed
Wisconsin corporations use loopholes to avoid millions of dollars in
taxes every year.
Liberal think tank...whose job it is to always think someone somewhere isn’t paying its fair share.
2.
The state would release the information after two years in a database that would allow linking of related corporations.
Establishment of such a database has been among the suggestions that the institution has made in the past.
And how well have new databases worked out in the past? Oh thats right, THEY HAVEN"T
3. In order to actually believe that the State is being screwed out of
taxes, you also need to assume that the business posted a profit on operations in Wisconsin.
4. (the following comes from The Associated Press article on this story.)
Microsoft
reported $12 billion in profits but paid nothing in Wisconsin, Norman
said. Merck reported $5 billion but paid nothing and Sears had more
than $1 billion in profits but paid no state tax, Norman said.
Now the one thing to keep in mind is that these are companies who do business WORLDWIDE
and yet the only thing that is mentioned in the article is that they
made these Billion dollar plus profits. It seems to me that these were
the only numbers looked at, and Wisconsin would ultimately just love to
TAX the companies based on TOTAL profit numbers, instead of Profits or losses
incurred within the State of Wisconsin.

Much has been made about Annette Ziegler and her troubles before being elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court (SCOWI).
For those of you who have not heard ,Justice Ziegler found herself in front of the Ethics Board for Not recusing herself from case brought in front of her court involving foreclosures with West Bend Savings Bank in which her husband is an active Board Member. (Arguements could also be made regarding any case in which any member of the Wisconsin Manufacters and Commerce is involved in a case coming up to SCOWI, and whether Justice Ziegler should recuse herself from those cases as well)
Justice Butler on the other hand, as ACTIVELY taken "campaign contributions" from attorneys with CURRENT cases in front of the Supreme Court. (Wisconsin v. Menasha Corp.)
What I find to be most interesting is that this all comes down to exactly one THING. POLITICS.
The newspapers in the State of Wisconsin are all calling for Ziegler's head on a platter, while in the same breath, saying "This will have no bearing on Justice Butlers ability to remain Impartial."
To which I ask these questions:
Why the double standard?
Is Butlers indiscretion any different because we all know he will rule against Menasha Corp anyway? and Finally
How would you handle this?

And it also makes people read blog postings.
Much like this one...However I digress!
In 1997 the Feds took control of The World Famous Mustang Ranch in Reno Nevada. Now 10 years later they sold it.....AT A LOSS!!!
The Federal Government of the United States can not run a bordello and make money. One
cathouse. Just one. Not "one in every state". Not "one whether you
think you need it or not". Just one single legal bawdy-house with an
already-established customer base. (Not including Senators from DC)And they couldn't keep it out of the red. Now, this is just my opinion, but if your money-handling skills are so poor that you can't even make a profit selling sex, then you have absolutely no business getting involved in more complicated financial areas. In
other words, if "Slam, bam, thank you ma'am, here's a hundred bucks" is
too complicated for you to make a profit, then you might just want to
keep your meat-hooks out of, say -- health care. So,
the next time some bright-eyed little bit starts chanting about
"Universal Health Care", I'm going to loudly and firmly opine that
until the Federal Government is capable of running a profitable brothel
... they've got no business trying to run my health care.
