I have been married since 1985.  I have stayed home while my husband has supported us all these years.  "Back in the day", whenever there was a phone call for my husband, (electric co, dr's office, car loan company, ect.) I would simply tell the person that my husband was at work, and I could help them since I am the one who handles all the money in our household.  I never had to get "clearance" from my husband to speak on his behalf.

Our home is financed through Chase Bank.  They have been calling leaving messages that they would like to talk to us about lowering our interest rate on our home loan.  Whenever I answer the phone, they ask for my husband, when I say he is at work, they always say "oh, ok, tell him we called"  They cannot discuss any part of our home loan with ME.  My name is on the deed, but not the loan.

I always looked at marriage as a binding contract. (among other things)  My husband has my blessing to speak on my behalf on any subject with any body.  I feel like, as a wife, I really don't have the rights I use to have.

I'm ready to tell Chase Bank that my husband is MY client.  I am his financial coordinator, and therefore, they must propose any loan offers to ME, and if I feel they are in the best interest of MY client I will have him return the call!  After all, my husband is a busy man.  He works hard everyday so he can pay this mortgage.

I really wonder why gay and lesbians fight so hard to be recognized as "married".  Reality check, it doesn't give you the rights it USE to.  Any one can be assigned your power of attorney for medical decisions.  If you buy a house with someone-as long as thier name's on the LOAN, they have more rights as I do as a WIFE.

Just needed to vent today.

I'm not an expert on the law, but I think it is against "confidentiality" to discuss it with you, since your name is NOT on the loan. In our litigious society, they might be afraid that your husband could sue them for discussing it with another person.

I understand that. What I am saying is, it never use to be a problem. Times are changing. My life is an open book to super, as his is to me.
I think part of the problem is alot of marriages and relationships now a days are seperate-yet together. Seperate accounts, each spouse pays half. Me and super actualy do feel like we are each part of a whole.
I called the electric company recently about our bill, the numbers didn't jive. I had to have super call the electric company to tell them they were allowed to discuss it with me. I guess I get frustrated when people make things harder than they have to be.
But I do understand about the whole world seeming to be sue crazy.

Our beautiful soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin is also would be better at leading our nation in the future after a McCain Presidency than Senator Barak Obama would be in leading our nation in the future starting in January 2009 because of three areas which are as follows: ideology , experience, and accomplisments. Ideologically she is a conservative. Experientially she has two years of executive administrative governing experience . When it comes to accomplishments she accomplished 3 major things which are as follows: government reform, the state budget and the economy, and wise use of natural resources. She reformed government by standing up to the big oil companies by breaking up the monopoly on power and resources. She insisted on competition and basic fairness which ended the control that the oil companies had on the state, and thereby returning control of the state back to the people. She lead well in the state budget by generating a surplus which came about by vetoing a half billion dollars of wasteful spending. Economically under her leadership she brought about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. She also suspended the state fuel tax, and when oil and gas prices went up dramatically, and filled up the state treasury, she sent a large share of that revenue back where it belonged - directly to the people of Alaska . On natural resources she has shown great leadership by beginning a nearly forty billion dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence, so please vote John McCain for President

johntheman - How about sticking with the blog subject. What does this have to do with gyro's blog? You may think that if you flood all blogs with your comments that people will listen. Wrong! People have already made their minds up as to who they're voting for. A stranger will not change their minds.

I am a homemaker. I hope to start breeding goats in the spring. I have 2 alpines, 1 nigerian dwarf, 1 pygmy, and on mix goat. My children are grown, so now my goats are my "kids".
