Actual Statements from Rush Limbaugh:

1. "Ladies and Gentlemen, we now know why there is this opposition to lower taxes in the liberal wing of the Democratic Party. It's because low tax rates are biblical in nature." (Huh?!)

2. "It has not been proven that nicotine is addictive or that cigarettes cause emphysema."

3. "We closed down a whole town (Times Beach, Mo.) over the threat of dioxin. There was no reason to do that. Dioxin at those levels isn't harmful."

4. "Do you know we have more acreage of forest land in the U.S. today then we did at the time the Constitution was written." (Wrong! We have over 1 million LESS acres now then we did in the 1700's).

5. "There are more American Indians alive today then there were when Columbus arrived or at any time in history." (Wrong again! The U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs says there are about  2 million American Indians today, as opposed to over 5 million before Columbus.)

6. "The larger the bra size - the smaller the I.Q.". Rush claimed this was from a study done at Tufts University. Tufts University denied any such study.

7. "Sexual Harassment in my work place will not be reported - it will be graded!"

8. "When it comes to the kinds of jobs that take absolutely no knowledge whatsoever to do - let stupid and unskilled Mexicans do that work."

9. "When a gay person turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult - it;s an invitation."  (He should know - he was arrested once in Pittsburgh for soliticiting a gay man.)

10. "Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream".

WHEN RUSH LIMBAUGH SAYS, "I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP FOLKS", IT'S TIME TO DUCK AND COVER!

The list of fallacies here can go on and on. It was assembled from easily available sources, (including his own books).

Limbaugh's chronic inaccuracy, and his lack of accountability, makes one wonder how he can be taken seriously by the media. He NEVER debates on his radio show or any other show. His media empire is based  largely on unchallenged monologues. Rush has a finely honed ability to twist and distort reality. Here's some reality he cannot deny - he avoided  fighting in the Vietnam War because of a boil (pimple) on his posterior. How fitting! Rush is a pimple on the a-- of America.

Rush can definatly get under your skin, and sometimes he does get on his soap box about something and I just have to switch channels. Evan when I don't agree with him or even when I think that He Has Lost His Mind, he still makes you think and thats what it is all about, think for yourself, rationalize things, search for the information and the facts.

dprin - my reason for this blog was in response to some conservatives in our midst. They think that Rush Limbaugh is our country's "National Treasure". I had to set the record straight.

Rush Limbag is a fascist, and people who listen to him are intellectually incapable to think for themselves, rational thought, or the willingness to search for the information and facts.

I don't listen to Rush but I do listen to Howie Chizek on WNIR. In my opinion it's a great talk radio show.

If a lying, drug addicted, solicitor of prostitutes is a National Treasure, then this country is in "deep doo-doo"! (Pardon my language!)
dprin - I said "some" conservatives think highly of him - not all do, thank goodness! And he is still being listened to because a lot of right-wing conservatives think everything he says is true!

I love Howie Chizek!! I don't always agree with him, but he makes local (and national) political talk interesting and often takes a boring topic and makes you think about how it interacts with other issues. He's by far the best talk show host that most people haven't heard of.

Girlscout, where did you aquire this "list"? Was it from move on .org, home of the Liberals where there are womanizers also? At least Rush was not a President if/when he tried for illicit sex. Just remember, that door swings both ways and no one is lilly white.

Oh, and Gorbash, at least Girlscout calls Rush by his real name and not Limbag. Your use of Limbag and Republiscum etc. is starting to sound like second grade name calling. You are an intelligent person until you lower yourself with these representations.

mrick - This "list" was not from any one source. They are quotes from some of his shows and several of his books. They can be read by anyone. Check out any of his books from the Library. "The Way Things Ought To Be" is one of the books.

Here's a quote he brags about right off of his website: "I should be the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. I've done more for liberty and individual freedom than anybody on this year's roster of candidates!" Oh really? And what exactly did he do to merit this honor??

lol, half of these things are jokes/statements that are purposely exaggerated to make a point. But yeah, he is a little crazy.

As for the people above, Howie rules! Humanahumanahumana

Rush lovers: care to explain how you think that's a joke or exaggerated?

Rush is nothing more than a demented, hate moger, war monger and fear monger. Rush and his listeners are very dangerous people. Anyone who listens to that man and agrees or choose to live their life based on what Rush says needs serious psychological help.

As for Howie, I'm ashamed to admit I've listened to Howie and talk radio before. Howie is not really the sharpest crayon in the box.

Well, I am no R.L. lover, but, for one, context determines meaning, in all situations, but especially when grabbing random quotes. In the bible it is told that Judas hung himself and his gut spilled out on the ground, and also Jesus said to go and do likewise. Obviously those two passages are not found side by side, but the danger in throwing quotes around without the surrounding context is fairly obvious, no matter what or who you are quoting. For instance, are all of those quotes original, or was he quoting someone else? Were they said with a sarcastic tone, or an honest tone? Talk show hosts love to stir up controversy because it makes ratings. The people on Air America do it just as much an conservative talk hosts, its just nobody knows it because hardly anyone listens to Air American, hence them being bankrupt. So it goes.

Girlscout - good post. I am glad someone sees his misquotes and missteps. He speaks with forked tongue. I only listen to him just before election time. When his predictions re: Clinton didn't come true both times, he showed that he was a master at dump, duck and dodge. Same as the drug fest and when he got a serious case of CRS. (Can't remember sh--)).

mrrick - gorbash got it right, when he said -Limbag.

LIFE is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out and proclaiming, "WOW - WHAT A RIDE"!!!!!
