Wow,

Its funny how the different times of the year and seasons have such an impact on my mood.

I am in my "Fall" stage right now,
starting to build my nest for the winter.. which means :
* switching over my colors in my wardrobe, and home decor

*Digging out the flannel Sheets, extra quilts and furry blankets...
*Moving all my bird feeders to see what are the best views from in the house.
* Stacking up firewood close to the house, for easy access.
* increasing candle supplies...( I burn more in the winter)
* My mood is more pensive, ( not depressed, but rather I am thinking alot about feelings and Life lately)

*I dont tend to set alot of goals this time of year, I am more in the hanging on for dear life mode, Just wanting to snuggle and feel protected... I am also waiting for some sparkles...!!!! which I know the Holidays will bring for sure! ( Smile)
*Even though every thing is dying back in my Gardens, I am still optimistic, Some where in the back of my brain as I plant thousands of bulbs across the area. There is hope!!( some times its the only thing to get me through the winter!) The thought of their tiny little bulb bodies just waiting to burst through the frozen ground!! and announce the rebirth of a new season (and Me!!)

* This is also the dreaded Birthday week... I tend to be a bit selfish this time of year, But I really cant even think what I want to do...for "it!"
I am going to have to give it some more thought today....
I am so blessed, I really dont need anything...I Think I am going to try and turn it around and do something for someone else instead...

i like the picture of the breath-taking sunset. very nice. already pulled the plants out of the garden already. that sunset looks great over the water in that picture.
great job posting this blog, gardendesigner. hopefully someone sees the picture of the breathtaking sunset.

Beautiful pictures. Great post. Are you for hire in the spring? I have so much space but so little ideas. The older I get the more frustrated I get with trying to keep up with it all. Weeds, weeds and more weeds. Winter brings some relief to me because it can all be hid--until spring. Have you ever heard of using newspaper as a way to keep away the weeds before you lay down wood chips??

UpNorth...I turned 45 this year and I am finding that 45 is an odd age. I feel so much older suddenly. Maybe it's the fear of 50?
I imagine 49 will be mentally difficult.
Probably worse than 50.
I remember 39 was worse than 40.
I seemed to have a lot of realizations at 40. It was as if all of the worries from my younger days were gone and I became more realistic in my approach to life. I stopped worrying about what people thought about me and accepted me for who I am and where I am at.
I hope you have a great 40th and enjoy your day and where you're at.

AWWW, thanks Katbird. I don't know why 40 is freaking me out so bad. I remember being a little put out just before my 30th b-day, but then my younger brother died shortly before and that certainly put things in persepective. If he were here right now he would probably be kacking me in the back of the head and telling me to get over it and to stop being a dufus. What I should be is more thankfull for the great hubby and kids that I have. (Were certainly not The Brady Bunch, but it works). OK, I am rambling now so I will go and wash my dishes.

You know Upnorth, many times I find that when I get stressed out all I need to do is think about what I have and how lucky I really am.
I've had a full life and if something were to happen to me I'd want to be content in knowing that.
I hope you have a great day. I am sure your brother is watching.

I'm sure he is watching too and I'm sure my Dad is right there with him. Your right though, we have to look at how lucky we really are. My Mom always says just walk a square mile, and you will find dozens of people who have lived a life of hell and are not feeling sorry for themselves, so get over yourself. She has a way of kicking you in the A$$ with out lifting a foot.
