Don Imus is totally out of line.  This is not a joke. I don't care if he is supposed to be

a comedian.  This was uncalled for.   Had this been a black radio announcer calling

white women names this incident would have a whole different twist.  The

black man would have been fired with no question.  A two week suspension

is a slap in the face for the African American community.  Another form of

hidden racism

First lets set things staight,Don Imus DID NOT make a racial statement. He was only quoting a movie that was made for the black community.I do not here anyone asking for a public apology from Hollywood in reference to racial comments. Also there is at least one white player on the team so that should tell all the ignorant people something. What I would like to know is where were all these so called concerned citizens when there own mayer was making racial statements;ie.this city is being run by the brotha's and sista's.So if they are calling for Don to get fired, then they should callfor everybody in city hall to be fired as well.Futhermore I am willing to bet that at least half if not all of those players get called those same things by freinds.

I have never heard Imus, but I think he is not getting a fare shake. He made a mistake, he apologized, and the Coach should be leading the "future leaders" and letting them know that they have to develop a thick skin (imagin the President or the Director or the DOD) if they are to be great leaders, and "Sticks and Stones my break my bones, but names will never hurt me"!!!

Listen to lyrics of Hip Hop/R and B. 8 of the top 10 songs currently on the charts have far worse verbal offenses to women than what Imus said. I'm not an Imus fan, but the double standard should be carefully looked at here. Cleary what was said was meant to be a joke, albeit in bad taste, but a joke nonetheless...

I am not a particular fan of Imus. I think he gives people a seed to form thoughts over. Still, I do believe that all the sponsors that pull their support of his show- solely because of their fear of being boycotted by a few protestors - should indeed be boycotted by the rest of the world for their lack of backbone. These sponsors were but too happy to buy exposure as long as the show was getting attention, but when it went to far and we mention the word discrimination- they all want to bail – and let someone else take the blame (sounds like you are trying to collect on a warranty—well it’s someone else’s fault-lol) Well, but as I think of it – I guess that is the American thing to do support people till things get rough then abandoned them ( like our soldiers in Iraq) So maybe Corporate America really is America. Just the same, I will boycott them because in my opinion they are nothing more than any other coward are traitor who abandons their ally at the oppositions first BOO! It makes me see how they will honor (gee there’s an obsolete word) any business I do with them and how quick they will shirk any responsibility for any short comings of the products they supply.

There are numerous ways to go about this.
You can cry and whine and get someone fired, or you can grow up and deal with it.

Is it because he's white? Really?

Or is it because the Rutgers girls are getting offended to something that is supposedly not true?
I don't understand this really. Why are they going out of their way to fight about this.

Granted, there are things that you shouldn't say. I'll agree with that, yes, it was a mean statement.

But what about all this rap nonsense? Talking about doing drugs, shooting cops, and the oh too famous "Nappy Headed Hos".
THEY MAKE A LIVING OFF THAT! And kids listen to it!

Honestly, this whole situation makes me sick.

What is this, middle school?

You're going to let name calling bother you so?

And the girls taking offense to this... clearly do not have a brain in their head.
If the statement is untrue... then why take offense?

Unless of course, it is.

Seriously. Get over yourselves.

I just have a couple of questions as a black male; what was the racial remark that Imus said? White girls have nappy hair. White girls are hoes. White girls have tattoos. There are white girls on the Rutgers Women’s basketball team. Why aren't the white girls as outraged as the black girls?...I'll let you think about that before you answer...

Have we, (the black race), called each other "nappy head" and our women "hoes", or worst, so much to the point that when some outside our race makes such a statement it automatically hits home? You don't kill a tree by chopping off its limbs!!! (You have to get to the root of the problem).

Don Imus and all others like him is truly wrong and it was a serious slip of the tounge. Sure, Imus cross the line. But, isn’t a sad day in all the hearts of all Americans, mostly us Black Americans who live all these years. Some of us stood side by side with a great man who marched, stood up and died for all people who truly belived, that we as a nation of rightful people deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, Hello!
dignity and respect, Hello! dignity and respect. Not a darn excuse, that is ok to disrespect and lose your dignity for a record or video. You see, people like Don Imus and all others like him loss their dignity and respect, only becaused some of us Black Americans open the door to being degraded by what we say and do. This in their eyes, even as a joke that went to far was ok in their eyes. Yes, Mr. Imus need to take a break and re-cap his thoughts. And God knows there are others out there in the wings hiding, too. But, most of all Some of us Black American need to remember the strongest words uttered from the mouth of the greatest black leader on this earth. Please, do this before we are futher dragged through the garbage being looked down apond. *** a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.*** I think Dr. Martin Luther king truly meant, even us Black Americans, too.
