I just read where the three men were cleared. The story stated that the mother of the young child killed admited they filed because they needed the money. They lost their business while they were mouring their loss. What is wrong with that? I think the men should pay for what happened. I personally know how it feels to loose a child. I gave up a great job because three months after my son passed away I still could not concentrate. Unless you have been there, you can not truly understand the pain! My son would be turning 7 this year. I still cry when I think of him. All the money in the world will not bring him back that is true, as it is true in this case, however if this family is strugling to take care of their other children due to this loss then they deserve the money!
I am totally outraged! This is such a injustice. If she was not as rich as she is she would have to serve her full sentence. You can not tell me that you consider being under house arrest in a house like that a bad thing! What is happening with our justice system? What is happening to our Country? Celebrities get away with crimes, gas prices are so high people who work hard all year long can not take vacations and big companies are getting exceptions while the little guys go under! I am loosing faith in this great country of ours. I used to believe in the government and the law! This just proves that Money talks and people with Money are above the rest of us in the eyes of the law!
This Sunday we change the clocks, that means it is time to replace the batteries in our smoke detectors. I have a better idea, when you replace the batteries, try setting the alarm off and watch what your family does. You might be surprised. I did just this and they all ignored it! Not one of them checked to see if it was real. So we sat down and had a long talk on fire safety.
Here are some very important ideas that might just save your family one day. Don't have one but two evacuation routes and practice them. Make sure you do this now and then to refresh it in their memories. Have a meeting place somewhere safe that you can do a head count and make sure everyone is out. Remind them that smoke rises practice crawling below the "smoke". Practice stop drop and roll.
Check with your local fire company, most of them have fire prevention material that is geared for children to help them learn. I am sure that if you called they would be more than happy to review fire safety with your family. Firemen and women would rather prevent a fire than have to fight one. Also remember to support your local fire company, alot of our fire companies are run by volunteers who put their lives on hold daily to come and help others during their time of need. For that I send them a true heartfelt THANK YOU!!!
