Road Rage

I was going to the store on Saturday, I approached a red light. There is a sign there that states do not block intersection, seeing that two cars were already in front of me I stopped at the line painted on the road underneath the sign so that I would not block the intersection in front of the firehouse. My three daughters were in the car with me. Two men came up behind me and started to beep the horn and make gestures at me. I calmly pointed to the sign. They still harrassed me making gestures. When the light turned green I started forward to go and they pulled up next to me into the left lane and when they realized I was a female turned quickly away. (I guess the truck fooled them into thinking I was a male who knows) To be honest I was worried, I almost moved into the intersection for fear that they could do something to hurt my children. I hate that the world we live in today is like this! I can't ride through my own town on a Saturday with my children without worrying about their safety!! Has this happened to you? What did you do? What can we do to prevent Road Rage?

Yikes! I had a similar thing happen to me about 3 years ago, on my way home from work. A car full on young (20 somethings) guys took offense to my driving, for whatever reason and tried to run me off the road... I mean literally. And there I was 6 months pregnant... I was crapping my pants! The police always seem to be lurking trying to catch someone speeding, but they are never around to see these sorts of things!

sorry to hear that flyerspac, i know exactly what you mean. i drive through an itentical intersection every night on my way home from work. I also do the proper thing and wait behind that sign. I always seem like the lucky one who is first in line behind that sign too. Meanwhile the guy behind me is getting anxious expecting me to keep going. I CAN'T WAIT TILL THAT GUY BEHIND ME EITHER BEEPS OR TRIES TO PULL UP NEXT TO ME OR TRIES TO GO AROUND ME ONE DAY!! BOY I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT DAY!!!! NOTHING IRKS ME MORE THAN STUPID OR OBLIVIOUS DRIVERS LIKE THAT! (watch that happen to me tonight now!! ha ha ha)

It is sad that there are quite a few people that are jerks and have no respect for people in general. If you do anything back, you will only make them more nuts. I unfort did that a year ago with someone and almost crashed my vehicle. Stupid move even though he cut me off and gave me the finger. What a jerk. Protect your little kiddies and be the safe driver you are. Thats all we can do...

I feel you pain. i live in S. Jersey in the Deptford Mall area. Coming back from the Mall (Cooper Street) at the intersection of rt47 & Cooper going towards Woodbury, there's sign indicating the right lane ends MERGE LEFT, SINGLE LANE, well that sign must read to those in that lane " race anyone in the proper lane, and BEAT them to the cut-off at ALL COSTS". What really offends me is that the DEPTFORD POLICE STATION is less than 50 feet away on the "opposite corner". Go figure huh???!!?

Its unfortunate people are always in a hurry. I had someone chase me down after I apologized for my mistake. My apology still wasn't enough.

Well, after chasing me down they ran themselves right into a police officer,which I stopped the officer and to no avail the person that was chasing me full of road rage; had no insurance and drivers license was suspended. Of course, they impounded his vehicle and you know the rest.

So, just be careful cause you never now when your number is up!

I AGREE 100%. I LOVE THE PEOPLE WHO SPEED PASS YOU TO GET TO THE RED LIGHT! RT 42 IN INJ IS A DISGRACE.

I was riding with a friend one day when just because someone pulled out in front of him, he tried to hit the drivers side of the door when he the driver pulled over at his stop. Missed him by inches! I said to my friend why are you doing this, he said it makes him feel good. After that day i have never talked to him again or went anywhere with him. Needless to say we are no longer friends.
