Listening to the coverage of the man that was killed by an off-duty LAPD officer, I am wondering if there are others out there in my community who are asking if that altercation was even necessary? What about the child? Can any body guess what would immediately happen to any ordinary citizen with a child, who decided to chase another individual at speeds reaching 100MPH? Can you say "CHILD ENDANGERMENT"? Why didn't local agencies take the child into protective custody? These officers are not above the law, are they?

I'm wondering because this happened about a mile from my neighborhood and I would like to believe that my local agencies would do the right thing. What about the end result? My neighborhood is home to many types of law enforcement personnel, we have our incidents of chaos here, but I never have seen these people get involved personally. Our local agency always handles our problems.

So why was it so important for this off-duty officer to risk the safety of his toddler son, traveling at extreme rates of speed and then killing an unarmed man with his toddler nearby? Why couldn't he just call in the hit and run to the CHP and let justice take it's course? It would seem that option was available to him since he did chase/follow him for over 5 miles. I wonder who's husband, father, brother, uncle, or friend he killed? I guess it wouldn't matter to him since he was so callus to not even take into consideration the safety of his own child.

I pray that justice will prevail and that this officer will be held accountable, just as any other citizen would be, even more so, since he represents the example that we should model our law abiding lives by.

Senator Barrack Obama yesterday made mention of a "tough, smart and principled national security strategy, one that recognizes that we have interests beyond Baghdad, in Kandahar and Karachi, in Tokyo and London, in Beijing and Berlin."

I don't get it, if Obama is so dead-set against the war in Iraq because we have no business there... why would he think we would have any business in these other regions? Maybe Obama is a warmonger after all, I don't know, but based on that comment it doesn't sound too good for London, Tokyo, Beijing, Berlin, Kandahar and Karachi. You never know he might just impose marshal law and disband congress. I know that's a little far fetched right, I think that's what they said about the charismatic Adolph Hitler, didn't Hitler campaign on change and reform, promises of greatness for the country, only to deliver death, destruction and attempted annihilation.

I'm not saying that Obama is a repeat of Hitler, but we would all be fools if we believe that promises made in a campaign push would come to any fruition. Let's face it, politicians promise the world to their constituents in order to be elected to office. Somehow it doesn't make sense to promise to bring home the troops only to redeploy them to Afghanistan, Tokyo, Berlin or anywhere else for that matter. The promise is to bring them home so they won't die in a unwanted needless war that we supposedly have no business being in. Let me ask this then... if we haven't caught up with Bin Laden in the years since 9/11 then that should mean that we have no business in Afghanistan then right? I mean, the CIA is more than capable of covertly going into Pakistan or any other country that he may be hiding in and assassinating him, so then it doesn't make sense based on Obama's philosophy of needless unwanted wars to keep any of our troops in the region.

Somebody set me straight if I am wrong on this, And please don't call me unpatriotic... the post is about Obama contradicting his policy on bringing home the troops, not if I agree with him, because I don't.

By no means should you ever refer to them as extremists, THEY ARE MURDERERS! Some people would have you believe that the United States is doing a great injustice in the world today, maybe at times, but what is the ratio of good to bad?

The title you ask? Try to think back to September of 2004 in a Russian town called Beslan. The same people that want you to cry injustice, will never refer to the Beslan school hostage crisis or Beslan Massacre of September 2004 when Islamic militants took more than 1,100 school children hostage for the cause of secession from the Russian Federation (I guess that was the fault of the United States as well). Ultimately during the three-day crisis 334 people were killed including 186 children, hundreds more were wounded or missing.

What a Nobel cause it must have been to torture and kill 186 children for, right? Wrong! In the end the Islamic murderers brought no sympathy to their cause, and only angered the watching world. Was this some new tactic? NO, this is something that has been going on for hundreds of years. It is not something that was invented to combat the United states or the Coalition Forces. No, it is a method used by cowards to stifle the determination and will to succeed at a just cause.

They will tell you, the only reason they went to war was for the oil. No different then when the French fought along side the Colonists when they declared independence from the Crown. France wanted to secure their position with the Americans so that they could establish trade with them. So there is nothing new today that is being done (except for on a much larger scale) than was being done hundreds and thousands of years ago. People would try to enlighten you to the evil deeds of the capitalist pigs of the U.S., whose only motivation is greed for what they don't have and more of it. What they won't tell you is that they are the first in line to buy products made by the sweat of someone else's brow with money they wouldn't make in most other countries, and soak up the sun in a FREE COUNTRY and voice their opposition to the direction we are headed, all being made possible by your government that seeks to preserve the way of life that we have all become accustomed to. They won't however live by their own preaching and abandon their way of life that they say is so despicable to live a life in poverty or political turmoil with no rights, all the while preaching to those of us who call ourselves Patriots, to drop what we are doing and pick up a weapon to fight in the war that we support and for the way of life we enjoy if we believe in it so much. Maybe I'm just stupid, but isn't that hypocrisy?

Is there something that can be done differently? Of course there is! Is it possible to change? Yes! There are numerous obstacles to hurdle, everyone has to come to the table and check their guns at the door though, and in my recollection not everyone is easily parted from their guns, Especially when some want it their way or the highway. It seems that there will always be that threat of chaos which has everybody trigger happy.

I have found it best for ME, to support our government and our Troops in that my interests are being looked after by them.

Recent developments in the state budget has Governor Schwarzenegger suggesting massive cuts across the board. Schwarzenegger, who is a strong supporter of education (at least that's what the email sent from his website said) plans massive cuts for K-12 funding.

In an effort to reduce spending California school officials have made cuts by layoffs, canceling pupil services, and anything else that they can think of. I should say that the teacher layoffs were a last resort for these officials. In a local school district officials have decided to start charging families for transportation in order to offset their budget and keep from laying off teachers. This is nothing new to most districts as it has been in effect for a number of years at most.

OK, so here is the catch, the cost is $365 for one student, $300 for the second, and $235 for the third, every child after the third is no charge. There are also some cases that the district will waive the charges, here is one. Any child who receives free and reduced lunch will have the fee waived, however effective the new school year any parent applying for free and reduced lunch for their children) must provide their W-2 to show hardship and must show proof of citizenship.

The reason the district has asked for this documentation is two fold, one-too many individuals that really don't qualify are taking advantage of the program, two non-citizens who are disqualified from the program and this should reduce costs signifigantly.

Earlier in the year I found out that the International Olympic Committee voted not to include baseball or softball in the 2012 London games. Baseball and softball do however remain on the list of potential games for future dates, however there are no guarantees.

In other news the exciting world of BRIDGE has descended upon the 2012 London games. Are you F#@!*#! kidding me? Worst yet on this mornings news, I heard that the hard to master sport of ROCK, PAPER, SICISSORS,  had been holding elimination games to decide who would represent the rock, paper, scissors federation of America in Beijing for the 2008 games. Since when has dumb luck made the qualification list for sports? If that isn't bad enough, the man in charge of the rock, paper, scissors federation said that "the qualification standards for the game are low but the game takes a lifetime to master, it is the democratized sport of the world". I know, I had to pick myself up off the floor after I heard that line of s!#t.

Who are these idiots on the IOC? Maybe they're not sports enthusiasts, I certainly hope they are not being paid for the positions they hold, because my 9 year old nephew can make better decisions then they can!

A recent document dated March 27,2008 from the desk of LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has questioned the purpose and priorities of ICE agents and Secretary Michael Chertoff in Los Angeles.  It seems that Tony is concerned about the negative impact that ICE agents activities may create in the illegal alien community and the non-exploitative employers who hire them. What? Does this P#*s anybody else off or is it just me? Where does he get the nerve to ask The Department of Homeland Defense to back off of his wetb#**#s? Doesn't he know that the majority of monies that these people earn doesn't even make it back into our economy? It's not like they give a rats a$$ about the $3 BILLION that they send back to their home countries and how much it is destabilizing our economy HERE! IS he insane? Doesn't he realize that on March 02, 08 Pedro Espinoza, an illegal alien, shot to death Jamiel Shaw Jr execution style only two houses down from Jamiel's home, and on the same day that Espinoza was released from prison?

I am glad that I can say I don't live in LA and that I didn't vote that idiot into office. Antonio Villaraigosa should be removed from office. If you ask me i think this is a move to beef up the voter base for Clinton since he's such a kiss a$$ to her. What were LA voters thinking on election day? Was Bernard Parks that bad? I know that illegals don't out number American citizens.

The LA mayor goes on to say that he speaks for all Los Angeleans and Californians in regards to our dependency on the contributions of these ILLEGAL ALIENS. I don't know about you but he didn't call me and ask for my opinion on the matter, and I am a Californian. Also, he sites the numerous local established and responsible employers who are being targeted and do not deserve this focused activity from ICE agents since they have no record of exploitative work practices, then why don't they hire American citizens?

Anyway, the document goes on and on about why ICE should leave LA's illegals alone and go bother someone else. LA... you have an IDIOT for a mayor, and he can't even be satisfied with his own last name, he has to combine it with his ex-wifes last name. Whats he hidding?

Carbon Credits?

Is it just me, or does everyone else think the Governor's response to the question of why he travels back and forth from LA to Sacramento on his private jet an admission of being remedial?

I thought the idea was to reduce the amount of carbon emissions in the air whenever we could, not contribute to them just because you can afford to purchase carbon credits from a corporation that is willing to sell them! Am I missing something here? Or is it that he just doesn't care about California As much as he professes to?

I don't know about you, but I for one am and have been sick of this IDIOT, and I'm a republican, isn't that a kick in the pants. Maybe we should have a good ole recall lynching again. it seems that that's the only time politicians seem to listen to their constituencies and stop listening to the special interests.

I heard last night that Schwarzenegger's approval rating was down to 44%, down 14% from last week and that the approval rating for the California legislatures is down to 30%. I guess people are letting their voices being heard! All this over a budget proposal that would take needed services away from Californians, unfortunately non-citizens take advantage of those same services. Now if we can only pass some legislation that would prevent foreign nationals from raiding our social services I think California would have a huge surplus for the rainy day syndrome.

I sure hope LA mayor Antonia Villaraigosa (what kind of Hispanic man hyphenates his name) doesn't run for governor, we might as well give California to the BLEEP right now.

Oh well, To get back to the original topic, why don't you just buy a house in Sacramento you IDIOT?

JUST FOR EVERYBODY'S INFORMATION,

WHEN YOU EMAIL YOUR SENATORS, ASSEMBLY PERSONS OR THE GOVERNOR, THEY VIEW EACH COMMENT AS 1000 PEOPLE. THIS IS BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT YOU MAY HAVE INFLUENCED OR HAVE THE SAME VIEWS AS YOU BUT DO NOT CALL, WRITE, OR EMAIL TO SHARE THEIR VIEWS ON THE MATTER.

SO MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD REGARDING THE $4.8 BILLION BUDGET CUTS TO CALIFORNIA'S SCHOOLS AND CHILDREN. AND TELL FOUR MORE PEOPLE TO CALL, WRITE, OR EMAIL  THEIR REPRESENTATIVES AND SHARE THIER VIEW ON THE SUBJECT.

THANKS

I wonder if anyone is willing to say that to raise our taxes for the better good, is too much?

Can California put up with another Governor that promised to balance the budget without raising taxes and didn't produce? Isnt the mess were in right now the same reason we recalled Gray Davis? I know I wouldn't mind paying even a hundred more dollars per year in order to get California back on track. the problem afterward is would the Governor reign in the state spending formulas that have contributed to the budget crisis that we find ourselves in now. Now, education happens to be one of those autopilot spending formulas but, look at the progress we have right now in our reading and math scores. I wached a news segment on a project that Cal trans wants to start on the 405 in the Sepulveda Pass area, their only concern is if they do not start the project they will lose it in the budget for the next fiscal year.

I don't know about you but with 36.5 million residents or more in the state of California I think if we at a minimum had to pay $40 dollars more per year in taxes it would increase state revenue by $15-$16 BILLION, didn't the Governor say that our deficit for 2008 would be $8.6 billion or something to that effect.

Oh weel wishfull thinking, like we can really expect our bogged down partisan representatives to come together for the good of their constituents. They better! the same people whose livleyhoods they are playing with are the same people that put the in public service and there will be a price to pay come election time if they don't get it right.

If you havn't taken notice or are simply are not informed, you should probably take the time and talk to your local school administrator and find out the facts about the Governors budget proposal.

As a parent and an administrator, I was both outraged and saddened to learn the potential results of the proposed budget plan that Governor Schwarzenegger has in store for California's schools and children. The proposal calls for a $4.8 BILLION cut in funding to our schools. Year after year, we are being forced to fight to ensure our children recieve the quality education they need and deserve.

It seems that whenever the state faces a budget shortage, politicians immediately attack our children and our schools to solve the problem. Thats just not fair. Our children had nothing to do with creating the current budget problems and funding for their education is supposed to protected. I don't see them cutting Cal trans budget with the same zeal, especially after all of the negative articles about overspending and missed deadlines on projects that have cost taxpayers HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of DOLLARS over the last decade.

The Governor's $4.8 BILLION  budget cut will severely damage the quality of education in our state. The proposal would decimate the voter-approved minimum-funding guarantee for schools(prop. 98). Never mind that California spends $1900 less per pupil than the national average. That is incredibly short-sighted and simply unacceptable. Californians should be very concerned that the Governor is tossing your will to the trash.

These budget reductions would be disastrous to public schools. A $4.8 BILLION cut to scools would mean laying off tens of thousands of teachers, statewide increases in class size and the futher errosion of the support staff provided to our students. This would threaten the progress that our kids are begining to make.

At a time when we are starting to see progress in student learning throughout California, this budget represents a giant step backward. Reading scores are up 25 percent and math scores have increased 17 percent in the last four years. How much has spending increased by Cal trans with the promise of less cost on projects due to inovative ideas, only to cost taxpayers HUNDREDS OF MILLION OF DOLLARS due to poor plans, missed deadline, and penalties levied by courts due to contractors claims of non-payment. I will tell you this, educational progress cannot continue with these proposed cuts.

As a parent I understand the challenges inherent in balancing a budget however, which of us would neglect our children because we are trying to trim the budget? I strongly oppose the Governor's 2008-09 budget proposal and plans to eviscerate funding for students and schools. Our kids and schools did not create this budget problem, and their education and future progress shouldn't be undermined because of it. Our children, our students, deserve better than this and as our elected representatives, our Senators, Assembly persons, and our Governor should take our concerns seriously.

I suggest that we all take interest in this issue and contact our State representatives.
