The NFL has decided to let CBS and NBC simulcast this weekends game between the Patriots and Giants.I'm very happy about this since I don't have the NFL network.Roger Gudell realized the historical significance of the game and ruled in the fans best interest.A team has never gone 16-0! He's too smart to alienate loyal NFL fans. The commissioner is smart for wanting all the fans to see this event.I had the NFL network last season but comcast cut if off this year.I wasn't about to pay extra for something I didn't previously. The NFL network seems to be the loser in this but it's sure good for a change to see the best interest of the fan take precedence.I'm sure this is probably a one time occurence also.

Don't get used to it, in less than 5 years the only way you'll be able to watch any pro sports is to buy those expensive cable packages. Not in this lifetime. It's a shame that my children won't be able to enjoy those sports the way we did when we were younger. Cable will be the death of pro sports, why, because only a handful of folks will shell out the bucks for the game packages. Who would have thought, pay-per-view for sports. Eventually, all sports will be subsidiesed by either the cable industry(everybody pays) or pro-sports will start to go bankrupt and the government will bail them out. In every case, the consumer get's screwed. Oh well, enjoy the game while it's still free.

Guess they didn't want 2/3rds of the country to miss out on history being made. That would have been a little counter-productive, don't you think?

Donnie,
I can't agree with you about the NFL's decision to let two networks carry a game. The game was slated for airing on smaller "free over the air" stations willing to pay. To give it to BOTH networks was ridiculous-- but the best way for the NFL to cash in.

And "movealready" is right... that's the direction the NFL seems to be moving. They are INCREDIBLY restrictive of what we put on our web site here- even when we BROADCAST THEIR GAMES! It's to the point that I don't bother publishing some stuff because it's just too much effort to jump through those NFL hoops.

It's a painful lesson we will all have to get used to: professional sports is business, much like going to Disney World.

Personally, I'm sticking to enjoying college or high school ball.
