Everyone knows that Bikers spend lots of money making Bike Week & Bike Fest a big advantage to making a large profit for various businesses and venders!   Well here lately there also seems to be a bigger increase in Poker Runs, Benefits, and Charity Runs....something bikers use to enjoy!   Now there are so many each and every weekend that some are getting pretty tired of it and it would seem even being taken advantage of because Bikers loves to help good causes doing what they can!

It has now become so overwelming that it gets to be old and the same ole, same ole just for different causes.   When will it be enough....probably never as long as Bikers still spend that money!   A great deal of profit making is made off of Bikers throughout the whole year and it is a growing trend that can accually cover a whole town with thousands of Bikers.   There are more and more people now getting into riding motorcycles now!

So how do you feel about this?

Well we do love any excuse to ride LOL so we will always be open to exploitation so I am just going to pick carefully who I support (it has to be about the support because I never win a hand! LOL) now that you mention it DI ...Fred Thompson needs money , I will ride in the rain for him! ...OK confession I like riding in the rain

There's definitely a profit made off of bikers' generosity. I think bikers will continue to participate in various causes be because there will always be a cause deemed "touching" or "important" and bikers will want to do what they can to help.

Bikers are a very generous group of people and loves the thrill of the ride no matter what!

RNC08~~that's not a bad idea having a ride for Fred Thompson's campaign! You like the rain, I like riding at night mostly....it's cooler and not as much traffic on the roads and it is really great when your on the road from 12am to 4am!

I agree. Everyday there is some run for something like "Free the Homeless Fruit Bats in Anatirca." Or "I am Just to Lazy to Get a Job Give Me Money Run". What reallt burns my butt is the runs that say the money is going for one thing and it never does. It is getting a bit carried away. Me, I stick to the runs that effect my friends and "family". Also to good causes like Easter Seals, Muscular Dystrophy,Veteran Affairs, and The Association For Retarded Citizens. I used to love to ride at night. Especially around " The Loop" here in the Ormond Beach area. So much cooler. Sadly to say alot of riders will just say screww this ! Just support causes that you beilieve in and for the most part it will be all good. Support the local vendors and the like. To Hell with the ones that come to town from somewhere else to make a quick buck and go away. I have watched this @#%* for years in Daytona. Ride safe out there !

..the cool night air and empty road is great to , and yes we are overwhelmed by choices almost every weekend its a chore to decide who you are going to ride with/for now days and some of the events are just getting to big ! I don't like riding in a “pack” that is to big...its not a parade ! LOL Its OK to run with a big group if you ride together all the time but when you are “clumped together” with a bunch of strangers its hard to get comfortable ...yung-uns trying to show how fast they can run , newbys trying to “show off” their bike and I don't even know what some people are thinking its like the want to sit in my lap! .....I like to ride “the line” most of the time but I want an escape rout to my right and to see the road ahead ! I can and do ride inside and down wind a length but that is not a “free space” for some idiot to pull into in front of me ...its supposed to be empty darn it! ...OK now I am just going on about etiquette but you know what I am talking about......think I will take you advice and go for a late night spin tonight. LOL

I don't much care for riding with newbies either...they can cause an accident unless you really watch what they are doing and able to anticipate what they will do before they do it! I like groups but with people that has been riding for a while and know their bike very well. I have been in some groups to where my husband and I would teach them how to ride in a group and how to look after one another while riding...that doesn't bother me as much when I already know what I'm getting into, Them Kiddies on them crouch rockets are nuts on wheels! They have no respect for others, are very careless, and really think they own the whole road to do what ever they want to...NO CLASS!

The trouble with so many charitable rides each week is that the ones you would like to support is sometimes on the same day and times and you can't really be in two or three places at once so you bounce around and whind up just taking a ride...well I can do that anytime during the week as well! From what I've heard they plan to have another concert benefit for the victoms that lost their homes in the plane crash again! I will try to make that one!

di,you and your buddies are doing too much ridin' round. Pick just one spot for the WET T-shirts and the cole slaw pit. I hope my considerate solution will make life easier. Have a great week girl !

Di- I rode for years & years, about 120000 miles a year, couldn't get enought. After 19 back operations I had to give it up 2 yrs ago.
I loved to go out for these different events, because most are for good causes. In fact 2 weeks ago We held one for our Disaster Unit and it did well. Everybody has their own causes that they feel is dear to them..I would rather give my money for a bike ride than to MICKEY MOUSE who already has Billions

When citizens stop with their negative image of anyone who rides....Ahhh, wouldn't that be nice. But we strive hard to show otherwise, while no one is looking. AFFA But even Angels get old. Still, there is one more ride, always.

Found riding at night to be best, myself...but hate to be jammed into a pack...and with a bunch newbies that don't understand both the etiquette and the simple Give Me Room rule...pick a moonlit night and an empty road.Making me miss my Smokey Mtns.Try Gatlinburg to Fancy Gap on the Parkway in Fall..(sniff)

shink13...The Blue Ridge Parkway is my old stomping grounds and my favorite ride of all and I miss it so much for that is my home in my heart always! Imagine that! I do go to visit from time to time and of course with my bike as well...maybe I will see you on the road sometime, just look for a BIG RED bike with an eagle head on the front wheel fender and an American Flag on the back rack...that will be me! Say hello if you should see me out and about riding the roads OK! LIVE TO RIDE!

i agree di, i work at a local biker bar and do many poker runs, i recall that when i first met you on this site that i mentioned that i know you and that ive heard your band, i actually used to take your phone calls for your bookings.lol id say that there are a great percent of the bikers on the run that are regulars, they are on most runs that come through. they are very loyal people and will help out anyone in any situation, i feel that they are being used too much too, the people like to see where its being donated and like knowing that its for " one of our own" . these days seems like we are doing runs for people weve never seen or met or for some ridiculous cause... i still see those same people though, they do love to ride. ive been doing these poker runs for 8 years now, the biker folks are amazingly loyal people... im so glad to call them my friends....
