Nextel Cup: Toyota/Save Mart 350 from Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California, Covered by TNT

This track isn’t your usual left turns; it goes both ways with Left and Right turns. “As you know…brake-gas-brake-gas-clutch brake gas-brake-gas”…you know the drill! Fuel was another issue to the end of this race…Montoya takes the lead with 7 laps to go for the first time this season and looking for his first win in Nextel Cup series but again fuel is in the question to complete the race to the win. And number 42 Montoya WINS for the very first time to Victory Lane!

There are those NASCAR fans who think this kind of track racing and the track in Mexico City, they feel it is not NASCAR and this track should be eliminated from NASCAR. The reasons for this opinion with those fans vary. “It is still racing….it is also a different challenge in driving and racing with a different kind of battle for the drivers”

But some just does not care for Road Races over the usual Left turn tracks and thinks it’s a waste of talent with driving….”HELLO…wouldn’t it be a talent to be able to go both ways as a change to the usual same o same o!” “I can not understand for the life of me WHY they would think like that!”

Trivial Question…Who is the only driver to complete in every race this season through to the last lead lap?
Answer…Juan Pablo Montoya

How do you feel about the different track styles of racing in NASCAR?

Are you kidding? A road track race is my very favorite! This is racing in its purest form!
Just like the old bootlegger days that you and fish are so fond of!
I wish every NASCAR race was a road track race!!!
If only.......
Damn! I missed that race!

Oh. No, baseball Keith has done it already.
Shriek! Baseball. The great American pastime.
Do people watch baseball? None I have met.
I would rather watch golf on TV, rather than baseball, and cannot decide which would be more boring.
Must be the hot dogs?

I just wish the road tracks had more opportunity for passing. It often becomes a race of gas mileage...not the fastest car or best driver.

I disagree FlaNative.
Road courses offer plenty of opportunity for passing, for those that can drive. Almost every corner and straight away gives you a chance. You have to set the other driver up.
These types of races put the driver and crew to a whole different type of test. Your set-up needs to be for left and right turns etc. All in all I watched at least 50 passes. Granted they weren't all for the lead, but there are 43 cars in the field and only one leader.
I will leave you guys with this. Road Courses are fun to watch on TV but don't waste your money attending one. The atmosphere outside before the race is a whole lot better than during. You are only able to see a small part of the race as opposed to an oval. JMHO Though.

Actually takes more of a driver to pass on a road race than a plain oval. Anything beyond a left turn is too much for the redneck brain to decipher.
