A little math lesson

There have been numerous blogs about how a $85 billion dollar bailout of AIG could better be a $425,000 payout to every citizen (assuming 200 million citizens 18yrs+). The sad truth is that it's only $425.

A US billion is defined as "One thousand times one million, which is 1, followed by nine zeros, or 10 to the 9th power. "  A European billion adds three more zeroes, in which case it would be $425,000, and you better believe everybody, liberal, democrat, and republican alike would be demanding their money.

Let us all hope that the liberal loons (democrats) in Washington are not so globalized as to be using a different definition of billion than what is accepted as a US billion.

And before my foot would be lodged in my mouth, I just checked the calculator, it still said $425.

So then, the bail out is really $700 Trillion to $1.5 Zillion. :)

pJ--well since you brought up the European currency bit to this, I believe French for "very much" is 'beaucoup', and I know German for twenty is zwanzig, you're right, it comes out to a lot of krap!

DHW1949 I know you have seen this one before but here is a little different take on that so called math....

Most people cannot even envision what $700 BILLION of their tax dollars means. Here's an example:

If you were to amass a fortune of $700 BILLION, you would have to win or earn over 1 million dollars EVERY DAY for ..............

2000 years.

would that qualify as beaucou...or boo-koo or even zwanzig? I do know that it is a S H I T load of crap

Mesabiker--even if the faulty math were true, do you think that the good ole boys would have let us have the money? I don't, they'll keep protecting themselves and their cronies....out withthe incumbents!!!

GW:
"Oh my god, that's horrible." (no one understood why he was so shaken).
