Iraq’s Interior Minister Thanks U.S. Troops for Liberating Iraq

Washington (CNSNews.com) – A top Iraqi official visited wounded American troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Tuesday to thank them for their part in ending Saddam Hussein’s rule in his country. “We also want to express our gratitude to the families of all these great men and women and express how important their sacrifices are for our nation,” Jawad Karim al-Bolani, Iraq’s minister of the interior, said.

It must stink for soldiers who are wounded to be used for political gain all of the time.

dhw, isn't that ironic....well good for him at least He appreciates the American soldiers, as do MOST Americans.
You know, what bothers me the most....I remember hearing about all the USO shows during WWII & Korea and saw them on tv during Nam. Old Hollywood use to go all out for the troops but this new breed are so selfish.
There are a few, most not even Hollywood, that go; Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood, Bill ORielly that go out of their way to see the guys. Glad for them.

Bijou--you're right. And this guy didn't need an entourage of campaign advisers or photographers to do it, so that means he MEANT it.

It must stink for soldiers knowing you are in Iraq and an idiot might be elected to be the next president that couldn't give a spit if you live or die.

I just read the article, completely classy act.

A total contrast to the bumbling minced words of Obama who is more enthusiastic addressing Europe than he is America.

Cancels a planned visit so there's no thank you to the troops but he found time to say this...‘The objective of this trip was to have substantive discussions with people ... who I expect to be dealing with over the next eight to 10 years,’...wow, is this guy getting ahead of himself or what? He ignores the citizens of the country he wants to run. Just a little eye opener to what we can expect should the guy actually get elected.

Just read the article on Minister al-Bolani, it is refreshing to hear someone who has lived through the tyrany of Hussein and has watched as his country has been reborn in democracy. To those who claim it's taking too long you should realize how long it took for equality here in the United States. How long before women had the right to vote? How long before Blacks could choose their schools? No it hasn't taken too long it is just evolving and once the people of Iraq discover the wonders of democracy it will spread through out the region. We can only read about the fathers of our country, these leaders are the true fathers of their country.
