....the walls are closing in.

The pressure is mounting.

Sweat...dripping down my scalp and it has become hard to swallow.

MY WIFE WANTS ME TO TAKE HER TO SEE "SEX AND THE CITY!"

Help!

I'm trying to keep up a good front, being honest with her telling her that I hated the show and couldn't stomach watching 2.5 hours of it with her if 30 minute shows were already too much to bear. She tells me that I had no problem watching it with her when it was airing on HBO. My reply is, "We were dating then and I wanted to impress you."

Sadly, such chivalry is lost.

Am I the only guy here who is holding the line on this. And ladies, are you forcing/asking your man to take you?

Help a brother out.

Well actually, I took a miss out and we both had a delightful dinner afterwards. It gave me time to analyze this and I think it goes beyond being a chick flick, rather it should do well for a little while. I would actually take the misses out and just go along and enjoy her company, perhaps a candle light romantic dinner afterwards. Times like these are always special and you should make the very best of them when possible for the both of you. Good luck my friend and enjoy the show!!!

Got Your Back ddain,
or I and my Husband do, anyway, Yeah its just not our type of flick either. As we like action adventure that type stuff. As for this one well ....toss it up to you can have it. Or yeah maybe it is a good date movie but, oh man I got your back, I am not into SJP anyway and good luck with your wife. Hey.. idea, set it up for her and a girl friend to go see maybe? just an idea.
Best to you & yours, Brenda

Brenda...thanks for that. I'm hoping that's the case. I've offered to watch the baby all afternoon, and perhaps she would go to lunch too. I think it will work...

Here's my one line review of the new movie "Sex & The City:

"Squealing & plate breaking beats the overwhelming scent of BLEEP & perfume."

i think alot of women are forcing their boyfriends/male friends/husbands to watch this movie. so really if all the women went alone, this movie would only have made 1/2 of it's profits.
as for you ddain, what can i say? i'll take voodoodog advice. lol. well look at the bright side, it would give you a great nap if you do go. just make sure to take a pillow. but if a nap during the movie isn't a option, well just remember this. next time a big event goes on, and your just dying to go even though your wife isnt', she owe you big time. so drive her nuts at a monster truck rally,UFC/WWE event, or a death metal concert, or make her watch a really disgusting nasty horror film, and make her watch it. pay back are a bi*ch!

here is another idea. take some acid, weed, or x to totally trip out as you watch the film. just a idea.

there are many films i choose not to go see. i simply am not interested. if i had a wife, she could go alone to see Sex and the City, just as i tell any woman who asks me if i'd be interested in seeing a movie which seems it would bore me. i go to films alone sometimes. last night i broiled two NY strip steaks. teh woman i was eating with disparaged the meat. she said she would not eat it if it were served to her at a restaurant. so i ate mine and three quarters of hers. it was delicious. her not liking the meat was bizarre. it was great. i am not an expert on fine meats, but i was happy. she was not.

Sometimes I think what us men really fear about chick flicks is we will enjoy them. It's like on that episode of "Family Guy" when Peter falls in love with chick flicks inspiring Peter to make a chick flick about a woman named Vageena Hertz who dies of an angry hymen. Perhaps if you rented that episode...

I've seen it...and that's not the case here. I watched enough of the show to know that there's now way I'd tolerate a 2.5 hour movie.

omg you're such a BLEEP. It's not like she's asking you to build her a brick house with your bare hands by yourself, God forbid. I've never seen a single episode, nor will I, simply not interested, but how bad can it possibly be?

geez what a baby.

Sorry...not going to go see it. And she's going with a friend of hers which is great.

I do plenty for my wife, but why subject myself to something I don't like for 2.5 hours...by choice?

I know now...but you put a convincing posting that would lead one to think you weren't so jovial.

Knowing that the movie and the old HBO series stood for having sex outside of marriage is enough for me to say no to seeing the movie. Though I'm nowhere near being perfect, I will stand my ground on this one. I find something like this disgusting. I can't sit through 2 1/2 hours of anything like this.

By the way, I don't have cable or satellite television, and when the series ended on HBO, I saw a minute or two on KTLA 5, and I found it so vile...I can see how you couldn't stand it for 28 minutes! I find that series vile and disgusting; 1 minute of it was torture to me!

Once you agree to see Sex In The City you will never again wear the pants in your family. Now is the time to put your foot down. Otherwise you'll wind up like Al Bundy, a pathetic shell of a man.

And I would go one step further. As a man you must DEMAND that SHE does not see that movie, with or without you. If you let her into that movie theater she'll be buying Gucci bags on your credit card the second she comes out.

Stand strong today or you'll become a liberal tomorrow!

Yeah, my stomach is churning on Sebar's advice. Once a man starts saying the words "delightful", "analyze" and "romantic", all is lost.

I hope his post was satire.
