Hey who has some good romantic Valentine Day idea's for your significant others'? Do you go all out? I to all out for my husband and usually get a spot away from home. i try to give him what i want that day. my step Dad spoiled the girls in the household, we received gifts, jewelry and each year our box of candy grew. remember Mavroko's, how i loved to see him come home with that big bag of sweets.

Gosh I'm jealous..lol...we don't go all out for V-day...my dad always bought me sweet gifts and candy as well as my mom but then I got married and well my poor hubby isn't very good at the mushy stuff..but I have to say he gives me gifts ever so often so I"m not lacking...he does take the kids out and has them pick out a card for me and flowers or something else they like...last year my boys were so sweet...they each picked out rings for me..they were so excited when I opened them and WOW were they rings...my oldest picked out what has to be about a 10K diamond and my other son picked out a bit smaller one that had a pink diamond with two clear ones on either side..he said the clear ones were he and his brother and the pink one was his sister..lol...and they both spent their own money on the rings...the total amounted to a whopping 3 dollars...teehee...so those "rings" are super special..even if they do turn my fingers green..:0)

We cancelled Valentine's Day last year. Money was tight and we had a lot going on (my step-son's birthday is Valentine's Day). We'll probably cancel it again this year and maybe for good. We both hate getting bogged down in the commercialism. We love each other all year round and try to show it as much as possible.

Prayforben...men are simple. They don't read cards and generally don't eat candy. Get rid of the kids, make him his favorite dinner and give him your undivided attention. And most importantly, don't expect anything in return. Just enjoy your time with him.

prayforben - Hey i am a romanticist, i usually keep in mind what i would want and how i would love things done. sometimes men have to be trained because they dont have a clue. our first Valentine Day together, i lost my mind i was so excited because i hadnt had a Valentine boyfriend in years. because my new years resolution usually came with cleaning my slate and that meant out with the one in my life that i couldnt spend the rest of my life with. i was serious. this is what i did for my husband: i got us a Valentine Package at the Marriott Airport, i bought 4 different types of fruit, 3 differnt tupes of dips, i made a romantic tape, i bought Champaign and him a silk robe. we had concert tickets and dinner at the hotel. I bougt a white table cloth and got some red confeddi and sprinkled it all over the table cloth. i also had 2 types of crackers and cheese. i bought 3 differnt types of nighties and a blind fold for him. i had him blind folded, my plan was to tantilize all of his senses. i sat him in a chair, fed him the different foods, along with the champaign and i changed outfits and just allowed him to touch the surface as i teased and fed him. and just when he got out of his mind, i went and changed again, and fed him different foods each time. and the rest was history. he absolutely loved it.....

well...I did have a "friend" that had just gotten married...well she had this idea..after watching a movie..that she would wrap herself in saran wrap and put on some cute heels and lipstick and greet her hubby at the door while their infant was asleep...WELL...my "friend" didn't know that her husband was going to be a little late..so she got cold..thought she would stand by the wood burning fireplace to warm up..well long story short..plastic wrap turned into shrink wrap and what was supposed to be a fun and romantic evening turned into one of tears and laughter...tears from my "friend" who was mortified when her husband walked in and saw her looking the way she did..and laughter from the husband as he was cutting her out of the plastic that had shrunk to her skin...so a bit of advice...stay away from a wood stove if you should get and inkling to wrap yourself in plastic wrap...it burns when it melts to your skin...or so I have heard from my "friend".. :0)

Last year I tool my girlfreind out to dinner, our favorite Italian place (Serra's) then out to Creve Coure park to watch the sunset from our spot up at the pavillion.I also planned ahead, brought her her favorite ice cream from main street st.charles and a not so cheap gold necklace and pendant.then topped it off with chocolate covered strawberries and champaign.Sounds great right? What do I do this year ?

We usually just exchange cards, by mutual agreement, because we do our special things whenever we want to all year. But last year, we had a superb dinner at a classy little restaurant name Barbara Jane's in Trenton that is now closed. They were only open for lunch usually and had quaint, romantic decor. For Valentine's Day, they offered a special dinner of filet mignon and the works, with a heart-shaped cheesecake and rose for the ladies, by candlelight. It was delightful.

We don't give candy because we're trying to avoid sweets for the most part. We've decided that money is better spent on projects around the house we want to do than on flowers and such. If you are younger, though, you should do romance!

Oh woe is me . . . no special someone in my life for the first time in 8 years, sob, sob, sob . . . what am I talking about . . . he hated going out on Valentine's Day because of the crowds, so I got stuck always making him dinner. Of course, he did give me trinkets . . . but then he would also purchase me roses on my birthday and then say they were also for VD.

Maybe I'll order Chinese in this year and watch some soaps, lol.

OMG... OMG... BEST STORY EVER BUGJUICE!

LOL... I try to make it about him. He deserves it. One year I got him tivo since he goes to bed to get up for work right in the middle of prime time. One year I sent him flowers at work and I could tell he thought it was super sweet.

I can't remember what the heck else I've done, although I am pretty sure it involves flavored massage oil.

jwst147 - o.k. how about a romantic couple massage this year? you know they have a room with jacuzzi tubs that has candles and is very dim and cozi. then you get a session for each a great massage. there is a place called Body Options in Florissant right off of Lindbergh and 270, ask for oomma 314 731 5100. they also have some Valentine packages already set up but you can give or take in each. they have a person that does facials, pedicures and nails. its a one stop shoppe. but after that since you would have already had a (light meal) you have a nice room that you would have (pre- prepared) with flowers, some body sweets (smile) and drink of your choice, music and some getting down...sounds like a winner

Valentine's Day has always been tough for my spouse and I. When we were still dating we broke up on V-Day. We got back together within weeks, but I have struggled to be "over the top" each year. One year I had the rose petals on the floor leading to the kitchen for a nice home-cooked meal. I had a big stuffed bulldog with a bone in his mouth on the bed and said "I Wuf You". I think it was pretty romantic and I believe she was truly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Love jazz and watching Hells Kitchen, Top Chef, Top Model, Maury (peternity shows), Judge Mathis and Divorce Court. At the top of this list, I love listening to a good sermon forever increasing my faith in the Lord. Also as you can see, I'm a reality type of girl and on the that topic, make the most of every moment you have with your friends and loved ones it might be your last time in their presence. Memories last a life time while material things come and go.
