Even though I am pro choice, I am glad partial birth abortions are banned. I still think there should have been a loop hole for medical reasons thought.

I find that anyone who willing gets a partial birth abortion without a medical reason disgusting. You had a whole trimester (three whole months) to decide whether or not you want to carry a child to term or not. Partial birth abortions are just down right awful. At this point a mother should have to carry the fetus to term (unless medical reasons as stated before) and then give the child up for adoption.

The only worry I have about this ban is what it will do to Roe vs. Wade. I still don't think abortions should be banned completely. I guess time will tell

I have mixed feelings on abortions. Maybe for a medical reason I can see needing one, maybe. But because of rape...I'm not sure how I feel. There are so many people out there that can't have children and would love to adopt a baby. I can't see ending a life past the 3 months. That is not right.

This subject in general is really disturbing to me. Barring in cases of rape or possible death to the mom I personally do not feel abortion is right at all. I think in todays society there is absolutely no reason for an accidental pregnancy. They hand out condoms and free birth control on every corner just about. The education in this area is well advanced. Women getting accidentaly pregnant today is just ignorant in my opinion. The choice in my opinion is to not get pregnant in the first place. Not what to do with this now that I messed up.

Girls today don't care if they get pregnant or not because abortions are so easy to get. You are right klh, it's just plain ignorance. For this reason, I believe abortions should be banned altogether except for medical.

I personally could never have an abortion! I am pro-choice though.

I have a girl friend who was pregnant with a baby girl back, well... it would be 9 years ago. She was sent to the Mayo Clinic in Columbus because of complications. They did testing on her and told her that her baby would die after birth immediately and that seeing her child would emotionally scar her and husband for life due to severe malformation of her face. Also, she had open Spina bifida. They had her on the table ready to perform the abortion and she was screaming at them not to. The doctors got absolutely annoyed with her and told her it would be hideous for her to carry out this pregnancy and that even if this child were to survive that she was not capable of taking care of such a severely handicapped child.(she was only 19yrs old) She pulled her IV's and walked out!

This child was born April 1, 1998, which I find funny also.(she fooled everyone!) She was born with open Spina bifida and only weighed 2lbs. She is now 9 years old and is the apple of her mother's eye. No, it has not been easy, but she is the most beautiful girl! She does take full-time care that her mother gives her and has given her, on her own, since she was born. She is blind and also has cerebral palsy due to the hospital staff trying to prevent her preterm birth. But she is the happiest, cheerfullest example of life! She is a miracle!

I do not ever agree with PARTIAL birth abortion! It is sickening! Who does anyone think they are taking gods will into their own hands! That is murder!!! And the above story w

(continued)

And the above story would be a perfect example of a happy child's life being destroyed, just because she would have been a burden to someone. God doesn't make mistakes, everything happens for a reason. I believe my friends daughter was sent here from god, to teach us all!

Now, this story may seem contradictory, due to the fact that I am pro-choice. But, I would never force my beliefs on anyone else. Only when it comes to partial birth abortion do I feel that the law should step-in. It is unimaginable what is done during these procedures, inhuman at the very least!

I am pro-choice. I also think that every situation is different. I don't agree with people using abortions as a form of birth control but in some cases yes it is needed.

I don't think I could ever get an abortion myself. I'd either do a private adoption or find a way to raise my child. I respect people's right to choose, though I might not approve of the reason (i.e. as a form of birth control is never right).

Though accidental pregnancies do happen. Yes we have birth control but even condoms are not 100%. So to claim that all who have accidental pregnancies are ignorant is not fair. I know some people who got pregnant just because the condom broke. My mom was taking expired birth control when she got pregnant with my baby sister. So surprises do happen even when you are careful.

I had a friend who was in a long term committed relationship, living together, and using birth control when she did surprisingly become pregnant. She wanted to keep the baby but when she told her boyfriend the news she found the truly ugly side of him. He told her under no circumstances that they were to keep the baby or even carry it to term. He told her that it was an abortion or he would kick her out of the house if the choice was anything else. Her back was against the wall so she did it, something that I know to this day 6 years later it still haunts her in some form. It took her four trips to actually do it. Now she is the mother to healthy, happy 9 month old baby girl and is extremely happy. I don't know what would have happen to her or the baby if she choose the other route. I couldn't be happier for her. She is a great mother to boot. She did get rid of her ex. Their relationship was pretty much gone after that.

Nikki-I don't agree with forcing anyone to get a partial birth abortion. That is just horrible that they tried to force your friend. It was her choice to make they shouldn't have tried to make it for her. Just out of curiosity did your friend ever take any action against the doctors for trying to abort the child? I mean it did cause more physical problems.

I do understand about surprises in pregnancy. But I also know that % is really small compaired to what's going on. Antibiotics can interfere with the pill as well. But I am refering to these girls that just have unprotected sex. There are thousand upon thousands of these girls. They know the risks. Some are even trying to get pregnant in there early teens. I'm sorry but to me those girls are idiots. My comment is based on the majority not the minority.

I was in the same situation as buterflykisses friend. I was in a long term relationship, got pregnang,(i was on birth control). It was thanksgiving day, when I told my boyfriend. 3 day's later he gave me the choice to have an abortion and go to work full time and hpay the bills or to have the baby and get the heck out. Well I picked the 2nd of the two. I now have a 17 year old daughter that I wouldn't trade for anything.

butterflykisses427,

I don't think she ever proceeded legally. I know she wanted to and still talks about how horrible those doctors were to her to this day. But, I do know being a young teen and with what she was going through she didn't really have time to prepare for anything. She was told until this child was over the age of one, that she could die any day.

So, I could see her fear in the possibility that maybe these doctors were right. She really does have her hands full. I wish I could have encouraged her to do something legally, but at the time everything going on was so overwhelming and scary. Not sure if she could do something at this point in time...

She just switched to Akron Children's for her daughters care recently. I am sure it was intimidating to press issues with the hospital, when her daughters life depended on these doctors care. I think, she still has to go down to Columbus now and then, because one of the major specialties of the Children's Mayo Clinic is Spina Bifida.

Well to encourage your friend further, I have a friend who has Cystic Fibrosis and he's going to be 35 at the end of this month. By all means he should be dead. He's at Akron Children's for his care and he says they are wonderful.
