As a citizen of the United States, I do not want to see my right to own a gun taken away. This s a Constitutional Right. In Germany, during the Holocaust, this is exactly what happened. We need to learn from mistakes. Why do people always want to blame it on someone else?
Tobacco doesn't kill people, but people use it and it is harmful - don't sell it? Alcohol doesn't kill people, they have a choice - ban alcohol? Guns don't kill - it is the person with the gun - so you say outlaw guns, too?
People need to step up and accept responsibility for their actions. If we control guns what happens in Philadelphia if a criminal steals one and enters the city limits, will this stop it. Think. Did this Philadelphia citizen have a legal document to carry, did he buy the gun legally, is he an outstanding law abiding citizen? I don't think so. If he doesn't have a gun, he is still going to be an evil person.
Finally, why were these thugs out on the street anyway? Criminals are not going to stop their actions unless there are consequences that are actually carried out. It is a matter of the heart. When they see evil as normal, you are not going to get any different response.
