While we all would like to think on the surface that this is a senseless beating, we do not know the facts. Were these guys resisting? Were they not showing there hands? Did they show a gun? Was a gun seen in the car? Did a gun fall out of the car? Could all 20 cops be wrong at the same time?? I dont think so. Put yourselves in their shoes for one day to see the stress that goes along with their job and the scum bags they deal with. TV has abused there power of showing this video and others like it, thereby condemning these officers before they had their day. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? In this day and age, as soon as the video is shown, it's as good as a conviction for all involved. If news were to happen to a media "news darling" this would not have been played, or reported so negatively, especially on the station that employees the "news darling". Local and network news stations are out of control; they act as though what they say is ALWAYS fact and we all should believe it.

News broadcasters, i feel, sensationalize every story like this for the simple reason of ratings while destroying peoples careers, yet they feel good about what they do. Disgusting.

I don't know what you were looking at, but what I saw is men being dragged out of a vehicle, immediately thrown to the ground, and savagley kicked by several officers. And as for putting myself in their shoes, I would like to believe that my shoes wouldn't end up like theirs did.

If only their parents beat them when they needed it then maybe they wouldn't be on the streets involved in a shooting. I am sick of these thugs. Don't forget the reason why the police were chasing them in the first place, they were involved in a shooting. They are far from innocent.

It was no time to show the guns if they had them. the officers had their guns drawn when the car came to a stop and the beat the crap out of them. To make matters worst there was one of them running from person to person, getting his stomps in, when clearly the criminals were no longer a threat. But I expect racist ass people one here who think that it was ok to beat them like that. I saw meet me in an alley and let me beat you like that

One other thing, take a look at the taped interview of the police officer speaking for to the press, I don't recall him saying these men were absolutely guilty of anything. They said someone witness them leaving, not having committed any crime. Hmmmmmmmmm, innocent until beaten?

From what was showed on TV of the beating, the men was already down and handcuffed. What more harm could they have done to the police? You are right. We don't know what happened before they was beaten, but how would you feel if your brother was on the ground helpless getting beaten by five or more police officers at a time? This city is going to hell. I work for one of the most hated organizations in this city. No, I am not a cop. I get called all kinds of names and sometimes physically threaten. I don't beat people because they hate my job. Police should be trained better on dealing with the public. It's called anger management.

we don't really know all of the facts, but I think those men should be thankful to still be alive. A couple of bruises will heal, but you can't bring back the dead.

In the video, it appeared to me that they were pulled out of the car b/c they didn't come out of the car themselves when they should have. Once out of the car the suspects continued to resist the officers causing the struggle. not until the end of it all are the suspects actually in cuffs and finally subdued. as for the cops running around to the different suspects it looked more to me that they were making sure their colleagues didn't need further assistance with the resisting suspects. And as for "imagine if your family member..." scenarios, imagine if your brother had been one of those people shot by the 3 suspects. I also don't like how the news is already jumping to conclusions calling this a beating before all the details and investigations are even out.

I watched the video and I did not see any resistance. These kids were on the ground and the police officers were kicking them in the head and beating them with their nightsticks. I realize these are kids in trouble, but the police officers responded with way too much force. The had at least 5 to 6 officers on each one. I am appalled by the brutality of the police officers. I realize tensions are running high because of the officer that was killed, these officers looked more like a gang than police. They were stomping on their heads, come on now, they were on the ground and one officer
was beating one suspect on the legs. Absolutely
uncalled for.

I don't care about the facts the officers should of did more than kick those hood rats they should of shot all three and I bet philly officers would be respected more and the news media is out of control they should've taken that video and shoved it you know where

Fox news-you are as bad as the ACLU making sure that no person's civil liberties are violated. These suspected criminals were SEEN using a GUN against someone and people are crying over one of the suspects having a lump on his forehaead. One of their fellow officers was just maimed and killed by a military-style weapon, and he wasn't even out of his car yet! If the police have to use their fists , feet, clubs and if it takes 5, 10, 20 of them to subdue a criminal when the police are up against military-style weapons out there, then I'm behind the police all the way.

Anyone who thinks that the police acted with too much force should take a reality check. This wasn't a case of racial profiling when the police purposefully and unjustly target a minority for no apparent reason or pull over minorities and harrass them for insignficant details such as a broken headlight or expired car registration, etc. In that case, I would be completely outraged at the behavior of the police and all of those officers should be fired. But let's use a little common sense, please. If you're innocent, what would the average citizen do? I would pull over immediately if a police car flashed their lights at me because I'd have nothing to hide. These guys hopped in their car and continued to accelerate at a high rate of speed AWAY from the police. They only stopped because they got blocked in by the police. The only people I know who flee from the police are those who are guilty or have something to hide. These guys got exactly what they deserved and if you're innocent then there is no need to flee from the police. If Leomia Dyches (particularly in light of her son's prior law infractions and apparent drug problems) and Shirley Hopkins would have expended some energy on their parenting skills years ago this "tradegy", per Ms. Hopkins eloquent quote, could have been avoided.

Good for the Cops! At least they caught the B@$t@rd$! If the courts would keep them in longer then it takes for the reports to be filed, maybe these A$$h*le$ wouldn't have been on the streets, killing officers of the law. I applaud the officers for standing up for their own.

i agree with the oringal write of this blog. thse men put their lives on the line everyday. they are stressed and scared. i think they need to use more force when dealing with criminals and maybe the streets won't be so bad. i have no problem with what they did and fox 29 should have kept this video to themselves. the criminals in this city need to know who is in control....

Let me tell the some of you most igorant people about Brian Hall one of the three men beaten. I knew him before he was born. His grandmother was my nanny. I am now 40 years old. You hear people on TV all the time saying how good their son, father, daughter, etc is when something happens to them. Well I can really say this about Brian. This boy had no police record. He graduated from Dobbins High School, he works a honest job, He takes care of his mother and younger sister and he just had a baby girl. His father owned his own promotion company. This boy had travelled to more places than you know. He has meet some of the most famous people in the singing business. The police is telling an out right lie about what took place. I live along with Brian in North Philly all my life. There is no way four men is going to walk up to three men standing on the corner and pull one gun and shoot and not hit anyone. First thing you cannot walk up on any black man standing on the corner and not think they may have a gun too. So why would they go out to look for trouble with one gun instead of just doing a drive by. Wake up. Brian is truly one good man.

If Brian Hall was such a good kid why were they running from the cops? I know my neices and nephews they are the best kids around me, they are the best and when people see their pics they tell me those kids are terrible so we dont know what the kids do when we are not around.............YOU BE SURPRISED

Too bad the news caught the beating on camera...had the helicopter not been flying over their heads the thugs might have been killed by the cops instead of just getting beat. Those animals who shot Liczbinski had a long list of criminal history as do the animals who got deservedly beaten. For those of you defending them...they'll get out of jail soon enough...and steal your money, rape your wife, and kill your children. Yeah, too bad they didn't get killed instead. Any thug that tries to break into my house will get his face blown off by a 12 gauge.

I agree with Dalonger that's what I'm talking about Philly needs to put their foot down and let the thugs know that they don't run the streets anymore and the cops need to start taking over the street.................

Wow, graduated from high school and met some famous singers. Must make him exempt from being a suspect in a shooting.
