I understand that it is our Constitutional right to bear arms....however.........upon re-reading the Constitution of the United States of America, I think they were talking about defending oneself from foreign invasion, Indian attacks, etc............not standing over a policeman in North Philadelphia and shooting him in cold blood several times in the chest, or obtaining an illegal firearm (s)  the day a convicted felon gets out of prison!!!

I THINK CONVICTED* FELONS* RAPISTS* MURDERERS SHOULD LOSE THEIR RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS* PERIOD*

I do not think it means that we allow legislators who obviously have no idea what it is like to bury a child, a father and valued community service contributor, a brother or sister, a friend,............ killed in the crossfire of a senseless battle with young gang members out for revenge, to decide what is best for us/Philadelphians.  Where did they get the guns???????.
They got them from you Harrisburg!!!!!.  They have your OK to KILL and continue KILLING!!!!!!!  Yeah...you gave them the home free pass. **** Law abiding citizens have no need for firearms in normal everyday activities!!!!!!!!!
I think you need to take a walk in the neighborhoods with Mayor Nutter and Commissioner Ramsey after a killing or visit the hospital where all police, family, friends await the outcome of yet another senseless shooting...with illegal firearms.
You need to be in somebody's shoes..............., dodge an actual bullet and then come up with a solution.......sorry if we Philadelphians interrupted your afternoon nap.  We are too busy dodging bullets and going to funerals to know the difference!
Thank you ..............City Hall and City Officials for what you tried to do!!!!   Make this city safe for law abiding citizens.

They do lose their right to bear arms. The gun he had was illegal.
That is why gun control will never work; law abiding citizens will be defenseless and criminal thugs will get guns illegally.

RIP Officer McDonald
My prayers are with you and your Family

RIP Officer McDonald (and all others lost this year and last). Amen

Yes...I don't think law abiding citizens are the issue nor should they lose their rights to bear arms...that is not what I was writing about. Sorry if I did not make myself clear.

Gov. Rendell has appointed a task force to look into the State's parole policies...maybe that is where it should begin.

It doesn't take care of domestic violence cases or accidental shootings or recklessness with a gun...but it is a start towards safety for all ...in general!! All guns should be licensed and registered and all people should take a course in how to handle them, just like driver's licenses. As I said before law-abiding citizens have no need for guns in average everyday activities...

We do have the right to bear arms in defense of our country and ourselves from harm!

I am not a native of Philadelphia, but I have grown to love living here, Philadelphia. I have discovered so many cultural and fun events here that are unique and I feel Philly is a well hidden tourist spot to visit. Reports do not do it justice, we only hear the negative, not the positive. There are some great people living here in Philly. I have my own small business. I have a B.S. in Education. I joined this site because I am concerned about Philadelphia and World events politically speaking. I would like to hear what other people are thinking and share ideas and opinions.
