I am completely freaked out.  Some chick racing down the street here in NORTEAST PHILLY, hit my parked car at 4:00 a.m. this morning.  She was going 85 miles an hour in a 25 mile zone, driving without a driver's permit in one of them gas guzzler ozone wreakers (pickup truck) which killed my little old car, almost hit my neighbor's house and ruined his lawn and  knocked down his garden fence, then left the scene without stopping, driving around my parked (obviously totaled) car and the dumbfounded people walking their dogs.  No one was killed.  I don't know how?

The police caught her!!!!  They were fantastic and efficient.

Police say she was sober!!!  Ok, what kind of person does this sober??  I thnk I would have felt a spark of understanding if under the influence, at least there was a reason.  Bad as that sounds.

I am mourning the loss of an old friend who got me to work on time, hauled stuff and helped me keep my business going!!

Thanks Philadelphia Police for your professionalism.

I think the DMV is giving out too many licenses to too many unqualified drivers

So what happened to her, and why was she driving like an animal in the first place?

No one has called, including her insurance company, to find out how I am getting to work and of course all my equipment was destroyed.(It was in the truck, what a mess)

They did call to ask if they could have the car towed to their place they deal with, to save money on their part.

It is my understanding, but not confirmed, that she was slapped with a lot of violations. But, I haven't heard anything to confirm that. I might not, since I am only the victim?? (My neighbor too.)

You can still see where she almost hit my neighbors house. I don't know if insurance will cover that!

Not one word of apology written or verbal. Nice, huh? What is the reason by law we have insurance in PA? So far, I have had to pay for everything, out of my pocket, and take a loss on my business, since I can't get out freely like I could when I had a car.

What's the point???

I lived on the corner of Princeton ave and Hawthorne- I saw cars being hit so many times, I could not tell you- I watched my car get hit over 20 times during my 5 year stint in Philly- It happens, it's ashame that people can't drive but believe me, it is not uncommon or suprising to see someones car on to of anothers- I have so many stories, I wouldn't know where to start- Some people simply loose control, drunk or not-

I just want to update everyone who responded to and read my blog. Thank you. You have helped me keep my sanity.

As of this moment I have not been reimbursed for anything. I have personally paid to replace the work equipment and personal items destroyed.(Think about it, in a parked car, glad I wasn't in it!!!)

A loaner? Laugh out loud, jokes on me!!! I bought a new car, without the help of my insurance company or the other insurance company. Couldn't get to work, had to do something.

Mine was an older car, so I have to be realistic what I can get for it. "Nothing" was not even in the equation.

The original beef I had was some crazy loon driving without a driver's permit and leaving the scene of an accident, it has now graduated to why are we paying insurance? Remind me again.

You know that friendly insurance guy that shows up at your door with a huge smile and a check, all caring and such. Dream on. I am not singling out any particular company since two are involved here and they are equally indifferent. Mine I never missed a payment or was late.

I suggest we all drop our insurance premiums, which I know I have faithfully paid for the last half a century, put the money weekly into an insurance account and pay for the disaster yourself when it happens.

Insurance companies you ought to be shot, you are criminals.

Loonie Lady, I hope you have a very bad week.

Sorry to hear that your getting taken for another ride. i suggest you get a lawyer or threaten your insurance company with one. This was not your fault and they are not doing their job as the insurance company. Her insurance should be paying and your insurance company should be making sure of it. This is not a no-fault she was driving nobody else was. As for your neighbor his homeowers should be going after her insurance company too.
Hope you take her to the cleaners people like her shouldn't have any money to buy a car let alone drive it.

Yeah,

What is sad about all this is we have a lot of people like me, being treated like me. We aren't rich, just average Joe's doing what we are doing!! We have a lot of angry people in our society, who are not getting what they deserve or paid for. I am entitled to have some help.

I just talked to my neighbors, same thing. The car came that close to hitting their house and air conditioning unit and they are on pension. If I knew what cleaners to go to, I would (lol).

Unfortunately, saying I'm sorry after a car wreck is an admission of guilt and can get you in a heap of legal trouble. Hope you can get your stuff repaired.

Hi Movealready,
Glad to hear from you.

Person who hit me is a neighbor, that's s kick in the teeth. Hope I don't run into her at the ShopRite. It could be ugly (lol).

Got a new car, back on the job. Hope she isn't, hers got badly damaged and she was driving without a license. Hope she got taken down and off the road.

I am not a native of Philadelphia, but I have grown to love living here, Philadelphia. I have discovered so many cultural and fun events here that are unique and I feel Philly is a well hidden tourist spot to visit. Reports do not do it justice, we only hear the negative, not the positive. There are some great people living here in Philly. I have my own small business. I have a B.S. in Education. I joined this site because I am concerned about Philadelphia and World events politically speaking. I would like to hear what other people are thinking and share ideas and opinions.
