Obama really let us have it today. In 30 minutes, Obama managed to outline a plan that will keep us from relying on oil, create more jobs and fix the economy. HOw is he going to do that? SImple, he plans on investing in alternative fuels.

THe unemployment rate is at it's highest in 4 years and climbing. GM and Ford, once 2 of the biggest employers are laying off people in droves as they continue to shut down SUV and truck plants due to the huge drop in demand for these cars. If these companies and Americans were given tax credits to make and purchase biodiesel cars, GM and Ford would reopen their factories and put their people back to work.

By giving the people and emerging companies tax credits for not polluting the earth and buying these products, products that must be made in the US and cannot be imported from other countries, wind, solar and geothermal 'farms' will pop up everywhere. This creates many jobs for all people no matter your educational background. But, best of all, we will no longer be at the mercy of the oil companies who are posting the biggest profits ever made by any company in the US.

Please, watch or read the speech he gave today about his energy policy. It meticulously outlines what his goals are and how he is going to make it happen. Once you read/listen to what he has to say, you will be impressed that he did not dance around the subject, but instead he gave a clear concise plan that will lead us into the next generation of technology that is coming on faster than you might think.

Ok so he wants to tax the oil companies to send checks out to us, bad move. This will be passed back to the consumer as they do with oil price increases. Crack down on speculation? Well the speculators for the most part are retirement funds hedging against the falling dollar. The dollar is falling because we send 700 billion dollars to the middle east buying their oil. Another bad move. Next he wants to use the oil reserves , well by law they can only release about 10% give or take a few percentage points and this is for emergencies. So where do they get the oil to refill the reserves? The middle east, another bad move.He wants electric powered cars, so how much are you paying for electricity? Added increase of electrical usage will result in higher cost of electricity. And he will not go for more coal usage or nuclear power so where does the power come from? Another bad move without alternative power sources. I could go on but read his plan for yourselves and you will see it is a very poor plan. http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/stateupda

So in summary what is his plan, no new drilling or limited drilling and the experts say we can be producing oil in 2 to 3 years not 10 to 20 like he says. More electrical use for hybrids with no new energy sources, increased oil demnd and higher electrical prices. His plan is a plan that will require decades to implement. Now I do agree we should have alternate sources, wind, solar and nuclear but he is against almost all these sources. We have more oil, oil shale and the largest supply of coal of any country in the world. Barak Hussein Obama's plan is to keep us dependent on Arab oil. Does anyone see a pattern here? He is just another blow hole trying to make you feel good with no plan.

Please excuse aks for his liberal views, he was a child of the progressive education system and knows not how to think for himself. From his writings I have gleaned that his parents tried to bring him into the real world but his educators won out making him what he is today.

“Obama managed to outline a plan that will keep us from relying on oil, create more jobs and fix the economy. HOw is he going to do that? SImple, he plans on investing in alternative fuels.”
BO does not intend to invest his money into “alternative fuels”, BO plans to force Americans that are comfortable with using oil to invest in these “alternative fuels.”
If BO wants these “alternative fuels” the BO should pay for it.

The leftist aka progressive treehugger chant of “not polluting the earth” is a lie. These leftist aka progressive treehuggers drive around in gas guzzling cars crying the planet is endanger. If this lie were true, then why do the leftist aka progressive treehuggers continue to destroy the planet?

Hypocrites! Leftist aka progressive treehuggers are nothing but hypocrites!

DMG, indeed your correct. In fact the Presidents home in Texas is totally green and his mother drives a smart car. Al Gore the biggest advocate of energy savings home is worse than hundreds of homes combined and he drives an SUV. Edwards is the same, Pelosi is the same. They want us to save oil so they can squander it themselves. Hypocrits all.

Hello everyone,
> > As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass

SimonK, unfortunately some of that email was true and some not. Cpt Porter had a bit of bad info and he stated so. Having said that some of this is true but the Army has censored him so we cannot find out what is and what isn't. Part of the UCMJ prevents active duty personal from taking part in political activities which this fell under.

I believe the the fact that he blew off the opportunity to spend time with the wounded troops speaks for itself. This man isn't fit to be the Commander in Chief.

Simon I agree but to keep it factual I needed to add my last comment. There are enough misguided souls on here posting things with nothing to substantiate their posts. I feel as long as we are going to debate things we should try and keep to facts.

But yes, a man wishing to become POTUS should have more than 144 days in the Senate. Heck I got more time than that in the bathroom but I don't know how to run the city's wastewater treatment plant. :)

NoFear, The thing that concerns me the most is the fact that the media has treated Obame like a celeberty and they have done so at the expense of the other candidate. We are electing a new president at a time that our nation is at war and at a time when we are at the most competitive time in our history for the recourses will need for our economy to prosper. We aren't getting the unbiased information that we, as voters, need to make the correct decisions this November.

NoFear, simonk, so John McCain is the answer. If Obama is the worst thing that ever came along, what is McCain going to do for America at the age of 72? Stand up to the same Big Oil billionaire club that prompts up right now? What is he going to do with Nuclear Power, when we have a nuclear plant just 50 miles away, and he hasn't done anything for the APS users that get stroked every year by it being there. It doesn't do anything for Arizonians. It doesn't just start and stop with Obama. Who is going to be the Secretary of Homeland Security is my question, because that person has my "citizenship and naturalization" unto him. McCain is a old rusty crusty, joke who could care less about the "average american" and especially the elderly with his Medicare D 3am Telethon during the 1st days of Katrina. Oh Yea, and the Anthrax came from IRAQ so we must Invade. Now that is the same Commander and Chief we got, no different, same blame PLAME game. Same channell, same bat channell, same same, same.

Dream on liberals can any of you define what he means by "windfall profit"
This was done before in the 80's look up what happened.
Liberals do not want to lower the cost of energy in Obamas own words the only problem with $4 a gal gas was "it happened to fast"

you have a point there no fear about obama's plans for alrenative energy will take decades to impliment,by then there will be someone else in the white house and they more than likely will have different plans!!! that is why most things cannot be worked out by the government whether it's dems or reps there is never any middle ground!!!

Aksjfd, you’re just a little gullible. I know for a fact that Bio fuels and alternative energy initiatives are in full swing. I mean it’s already underway and Senator Obama is running on a Stance that he will make it happen; it’s being done as we speak. He has made you think he has something to do with it!
WalMart was the highest earning company in the world, due to WalMunism—Thanks, aksjfd, for pleading the causes of the ignant! I support my neighbors’ businesses as much as I can. I never buy gas at WalMart, “to save three cents a gallon”. Go to Canada if you want cheap fuel!
Employment is at historic highs despite layoffs; in the U.S., everyone is not guaranteed a job! People are supposed to adapt to the times and seek new and better stations in life. I guess, should Obama make it, even you would get one.
I heard his stance on Socialism; He thinks it’s inevitable and that “clingers-on–to” don’t have a chance of having America remain the free society it stands for. When I think of me working to give you a job it makes me sick. At least, if that becomes the case you should not have a computer. I’ll vote for that.
Whee Huuh!

Again all we read from the leftist aka progressives is the old lies about oil. If the leftist aka progressives want alternative energy sources then the leftist aka progressives should develop them.
Now BO has used the Texas oil guy to defend the leftist aka progressive lie of alternative energy sources. The only problem is this Texas guy is using his own money. He did not demand a tax on Americans to do this.
It is time for the leftist aka progressives that want alternative energy sources to put up or shut up. Put your leftist aka progressive money where the leftist aka progressive mouth is.

That Texas guy is T Boone Pickens, self made millionair. He does have some great ideas. The problem with most of Obama's plan is he doesn't have one. His deal with the Hybrids is only 1% of the total cars on the road, no imapct at all. Beside most people cannot afford one and if you can the savings right now will take you 3 years to break even at todays cost. Now a car that will go 150 mpg is not even possible, otherwise car manufactuers wouldn't be able to make enough to keep up with demand. And if a hybrid that gets 48 mpg costs $22,000 how much will they ask for one that gets 150mpg? And Barak Hussein Obama will only give you a $7,000 credit. So essentially no one but the elite will be able to buy one. This is the liberals plan to get us all away from our cars. Better invest in horses because that will be the wave of the future for the working people.
