This is the only blog I use. Kudos to the Fox staff for finding the format that works best for me. All of you make this site enjoyable as well as you all are interested in the same things I am with a different opinion. That allows me to learn more about how I feel about things which either solidifies or changes my mind. But now, I am not so sure if I understand the purpose of this site and political blogs in general. Therefore, I thought I'd ask all of you professional bloggers, what is the purpose of the blogs?

Some days, I think that debate and deep thought are the purposes, motivating me to toss in my own thoughts and rebuttals. I enjoy taking what someone has written and showing the other side of everything they said. When people do the same to me, I am happy to hear it as that means they have actually thought about what I said and thought about thier own position in order to counter. For me, it's a good time and gives me an outlet for what I see that is wrong with the world. The bf can't debate these issues because he doesn't know enough fact and I like to look things up. In fact, my friends will say some random fact and kid me about leaving it up to me to find the answer. And I kid them back that you can only be a Rep. until you start researching it for themselves which is why most college grads, researchers, are Dem. But, it's all in good fun and I love them like family.

Then, there are the other days. Those days I think the purpose is mearly to say everything you want to say and have every single person on here agree with your position so that you can pound your chest. When a person with a different view reads everything you said and counters, I would think you felt honored that you wrote something someone read and thought about. Some days I think I am wrong and people feel I am attacking them and not their arguement. Instead of countering, people call me names usually with the Rep equivalent to the 'n-word' for white people...liberal attached to it. So perhaps this is not a place for debate, but a place for agreeing?

Whatever you think, please let me know. Perhaps I've been wrong all this time and debate is not the goal of bloggers.

DEBATE!?
Debate is not your goal!!!

*If you truly want to know what's wrong with this world, Look Within!

Your 'intended goal' tends to go on and on like a defective electronic recording device play-back unending repeats of clamoring non sensible confusion displaying no knowledge, no compassion, no thinking, no clarity of speech, no appreciation of common-sense, no substance of rationality or reality. Just a monotonous repeating mal-formed mechanical mouthing device of meaningless recycled metering pulsations of annoying 'skips'.
Like a virus; once it has attached itself to a site, blogs will become infected with its unending 'mumblings'.

I wasn't going to comment on this blog but there was a comment directed towards me earlier so I'll bite.

Debating, conversing, exchanging ideas, yes
Putting words in someones mouth, no
Name calling and trying to insult, no

aks, I can feel the hate in a lot of your comments. And the majority of your comments have name calling in them. Why are you playing the victim?

Ladies, ladies, let's be civil.

Ablaze,
I enjoy the blogs because I like to slap liberals around and make them see the light. The "light" being the opposite of their "let the government take care of us" ideas.

Many on here want people to agree with them. I like to hear from both sides. That way us conservatives can take turns ditch slapping the simple minded liberals.

As for your comment of graduates being liberals. As you know MOST people go to college right after high school. At that young age, they are gullible. Many college teachers (and teachers in general) are liberals, and they like to spew their liberal garbage to their students. Once the snot nosed graduates grow up for a few decades and see the light (the same light as above) they think for themselves and become conservatives. That's why the SMART old tarts are conservatives.

I am civil, that's why I've never been banned ;)

RD and ATM--I had to delete both your comments because they were equally threatening and that is not what this blog intended.

ATM--I will count your vote as 'not a debate'.
Ken---debate
Tweety--not really sure. And I am not playing the victim, I am posing the question. I have allowed myself to sting a bit, too, but you have to admit I ahve not gone to the lengths of some on this site. As far as anyone being banned, I am sure that person was banned for defending themselves and kicking butt doing so. Now, I end up erasing a lot of things I'd like to say. please let me know when something slips by me and I act 'Republican' ;)

Ken--so you think that people who drop out of high school and never go back are intelligent when they get old by default?

My dad, a staunch Republican (although he is considering Obama--that is a HUGE step for him, but I will believe it when I see it.), has always said that I will be a Republican when I grow up because I will have more money and children (and he is a big wig who works all of the financials for Honeywell). This leads me to believe I will become greedy and afraid the older I get. Well, I am not very materialistic (why I save like crazy and am only $3K in debt from college) and I told the mom across the street to let her kid wrestle or play football if he wanted. He is more likely to be seriously injured walking to school. But, I guess that's why I will always be a Democrat.

Unless the bad guys take it over like they did the Republicans.

Thanks to blogs in general, and this new type of media we have all become messengers, but we're not always careful about what we say, or how we say it. Anyone with a computer, the ability to type, and an Internet connection can become a published author, of sorts. And of course, blogs can often reflect the personality of the author. Blogs voice opinions basically, whether it be news or otherwise, and should provoke good dialogue. How well we know that isn't always the case. Do you blog for knowledge or learning, or just for fun? All types of people make comments here. Some are highly educated, some are not. Some can make a good point with the spoken word and facts, others shout down and name call because they can't bring anything else to the table. At any rate, you need thick skin and ability to "brush off" the verbal attacks which sometimes accompany someone's comments. Some are so strong in their belief systems that it's pointless to try and argue a point, and that's certainly their right. It's difficult to deal with the "I am right, you are wrong, I am better than you" mindset, but keep in mind that everyone is different, and by all means, you can't take it personally. Everyone has a right to speak, unless it becomes out of control. I guess it's up to Fox to make those decisions. I love the dialogue and like challenging my mind. I can also say that I've learned a thing or two from my fellow bloggers. If we all agreed on the same thing all the time, this would be a pretty boring world in my opinion. Just my three cents worth.

When I wrote that, I was talking to RDJVZ & ATM - the posts that are now deleted. When the post went through, I saw you got in before me and wondered if you would think I was talking about you and ablaze. You and ablaze are much more civil than they were being.

No, I never said that. I think anyone that doesn't get their free high school education is an idiot and should not be able to ever get welfare, food stamps, or unemployment insurance, unless they get their GED. Why? Because they are MUCH harder to place in a job. If we made that rule, idiots would still drop out of HS, but they would grow up and get a GED so they could get the government free handouts.

Great point Jt. I will have to watch myself a bit more.

Ken---thanks for clearing that up. I did think that a lil and appreciate you saying that.

So you think everyone should recieve at the same basic education? Let's flip this to health care. Shouldn't the same be true? Make it mandatory to go the doctor twice per year so that people aren't running to ERs and their doctors can tell them to go on a diet so they are aware of their health condition/addiction?

Debate is an open exchange of ideas, if you want a civil debate you might try being civil yourself. When someone states a fact like
Obamas 1/2 brother belongs to a muslim extremist party in Kenya, then
"Seriously? You are an idiot. Even if it's true, so what? I wouldn't think you were a criminal just cuz you have an uncle in the can." is not a civil response. It is insulting and moronic, yet you wonder why people get insulting to you. Even you little bio insults people. People can hold an opposing point of view without being "evil" or "hateful" you don't seem to realize that.

I enjoy everyones comments and opinions on the various blog topics but when it comes to "debate"

I leave that to the MASTER-D-BATORS!

You are right, Justmepa. If I called someone an idiot without provocation, I apologize. If I was provoked, I am working on not retaliating so give me time to forgive myself so that I forgive you and can apologize for my behavior and mean it.

But, caring what race, religion or family idiots one has in their family shouldn't matter when voting for a candidate.

I don't see how intelligent people can't see the light. They have learning, God and religion and they still act without a conscience. Should't there be Government.

You put all these bloggers in a room and say, run the nation! There would be death and bloodshed within the hour.
