UPDATE: No One To Work

Well, it's going on 3 months now, and still have no one hired to help me in my store.

Unfortunately, because of the strain of working 60 plus hours a week, I had no choice but to tender MY resignation the other day.  It was something I did not WANT to do but felt I HAD to do.  My family and personal life was suffering.

Please ladies and gentleman, when shopping, have respect for the retail workers out there who put in many, many hours for little pay.  And they do it because they love their job.

Keep me in your thoughts, as I will be out there "pounding the pavement" once again.............

I agree- sounds wise, Jeep. Did you try telling them "no" at any point? (i.e.- "I signed on for 24 hours a week and that's all I can commit to") If you're a part-timer, they have to respect your wishes. They could replace you in theory, but it sounds like they were so desperate you might have had some leverage. Either way, companies that run you like that generally have stability problems and you're better to be out...

I am sorry that your situation is as it is. Retail work is not appreciated as it should be. But it takes a special kind of person to do that work, especially with the way some customers behave. You are right, retail workers deserve more respect. You have mine.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.....I too believe that everything happens for a reason!

Matt, in the retail world, when you are a manager, they can actually choose to run you into the ground. Sad, but true. I was a salaried employee and that says it all!!!!

Jim, I am sad to report that Newz has dropped off the face of the earth :(
Haven't heard from him in a couple of months....

Wow, Jeep.
Being salaried can be bad news, especially if the company abuses you. Did you know that federal law allows companies to pay salaried employees overtime? Yep, it's true. 'Exempt' only means they don't HAVE to pay you- and therefore many don't.
You deserve better- go get 'em!!!

Sounds like you worked for a couple of exploiting weasels...they need to be put in their place. I hope you get some rest and find something more refreshing for you. (Perhaps learn about selling Jeeps?) Keep on wheeling away Jeepgurl!

Ohhhhh, there's just so much to tell........... I'll just say that I love all things jeep........and my new passion is tattoos. Yes, tattoos. I also am a lover, not a fighter. But I can put up a good fight if I have to!!
