TexasTruBlu's Fortress of Solitude

Nanci Pelosi, liberal Democrat and head of the Congress from San Francisco, has no common sense. Here we have a crucial vote on a major economic bailout and instead of coaxing the opposing team to her side through logic and persuasion, she take a moment on the floor prior to the vote to blame every economic ill on the Republican party. She kind of glossed over the attempts in 2003 and 2005 to get better oversight on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. And do you want me to believe that only Republicans were making hay while the sun shined on a booming market? Many of the problems coming to fruition are the result of policies starting back as early as 1996. What I find odd is how a bill that was three pages last Thursday can suddenly swell to 101 pages today. Does the word "earmarks" ring a bell?

For every expenditure passed by the Congress there have been countless earmarks riding along like the bloodsucking parasites that wrote them on bills that needed to be passed. Frankly, while the party may be over, I don't think Pelosi realizes that the party may be over for everyone. There were just as many Democrats that reneged on that vote as Republicans. And as I recall, the Democrats hold the majority in the House. So whose fault is it that they didn't fall in lockstep with this legislation? Or are there hidden clauses and earmarks that may come back and sting like hell when outed in the media? This was the result of middle America making their preferences known. For too long the government has been run by many for the benefit of a few. That's backasswards.  It's time that Congress learns who is boss. And the way to do that is to note how YOUR representatives votes, to note if they have stood up for YOU. If not, they aren't your creature anymore and you owe them no loyalty. Remember that come November.

Someone should send Pelosi to leadership school. She's a dolt. What surprises me is the Republicans allow her to rant about the Bush administration being the cause of the financial disaster, and none of them ever say a word about Barney Frank and Chris Dodd who blocked the McCain/Dole legislation and the Bush attempt to regulate Fannie and Freddie.

Absolutely. They are simply campaigning. The Democrats do NOT care about taxpayers. They do NOT care about citizens. They do NOT care about anything other than maintaining their power base. Anyone who votes for these people deserves what happens down the line. Long time legislators warned the Democrats about Fannie and Freddie. Then when they got control of the committes, the Democrats did NOTHING. They let out no legislation, produced no oversight committees and are now saddled with this huge problem. I think the Democrats need to find themselves another leader because Pelosi is no negotiator.

Great post and great comments. I don't know about y'all, but the power of the telephone and the net have proved themselves. Truly, not since the sixties have I seen such a united force of the American people. I think it is wonderful, and all those that blog/post - keep on keeping on. We were actually heard, and that's huge.

Remember, this is an election year for most!

Slick willie had more to do with this than the GOP. His ex financial was paid 50 million by Fannie Mae in the 6 years after he left office, and its a matter of public record. Pelosi ia loser and an idiot.

Pelosi is a far left radical with the personality of a gnat. I wonder why she didn't mention that 20% of any profits realized from the proposed bailout would be used to fund liberal programs?

I think this process was an orchestrated attempt by the Dems to ge the GOP to be the majority to push this poor legislation over the top so they could use it as a campaign ploy against them, and I'm glad the GOP didn't fall for it , it is the failed policy of the Dems that have gotten this to where to where it is, today , all these policies in lending started under Clinton using HUD to institute them it is all on record under the NATIONAL HOMEOWNERSHIP STRATEGY , the Dems are trying to cover there own failed policy since 1994 , check it out online , it's all there !

I think her personality is closer to a goat scotty. She needs a good pair of knee pads.

I just posted the video from 2004 where Republicans were calling for more oversight and Democrats were calling it a "lynching" and saying that everything was great, despite a study revealing criminal activity from Fannie/Freddie. Franklin Raines, Obama advisor, is on the video.

also, if there is no bailout, it is according to Donald Trump almost for sure , that the oil prices will drop to $20 or $30 a barrel , that would be a good result for this , and also if it goes thru, it is possible that oil prices will go to $150 barrel , so there is a bright side to no bailout .

Could it be that Pelosi is really Teddy and Hillarys "Love Child"?

I am a teacher, a mother and wife and I like to think I am a pretty good citizen. I read ALOT. I also write a good deal on various blogs. I appreciate a chance to respond to what we see in the news. I think that by posting our opinions we can probably find that everyone is more alike than we are willing to admit. Face it, people just like to argue. I would also like to say how much I appreciate having a forum for my views.
