I finally got around to replacing the "Under Construction" main page of my website with some pictures of my rescue animals and their stories:

After about 8 months of work, over the weekend I put online for the first time my new website, “Blind Horse Care, Training, and Riding”:

ning_and_Riding.htm

When I adopted my blind horse TJ, I was unable to find much useful information on the Internet nor from experienced horse friends to help me prepare for his arrival at my farm. I literally went into his adoption as blind as TJ. All I knew was that TJ was counting on me, and I wasn’t going to let him down. Despite the lack of information, I resolved that I would find a way to make it work, and I did.

Since that time I decided that I didn’t want others to suffer from the same lack of information that I did, so I starting documenting everything I’d learned through my experiences with TJ. It’s my hope that by doing so, other blind horses will be able to find an adoptive home or keep their current home (many horse owners don’t keep their horses once they go blind).

If nothing else, maybe a bit of the veil of ignorance and prejudice will be lifted from the eyes of some who are far too quick to judge what the disabled are and are not capable of.

I bought a small farm in Southern New Jersey where I rescue extreme abuse/neglect and hard-to-place farm animals. I fund the care, feeding, and housing of my animals through my full-time job as a computer programmer. I believe strongly in Helen Keller's words of wisdom: "I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; I must not fail to do the something that I can do." I encourage anyone who reads this to do the something that you can do to make this world a better place. Trust and follow your heart, and it will lead you in the right direction.
