The Crenshaw High School drum line is the coolest. They performed on Jimmy Kimmel with one of my favorite bands - Vampire Weekend.

By the way, when is Fox getting a late night show? (Leno???)

VW is influenced by both African popular music and Western classical music.

The drum line performed their song "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa." The first time I heard it I thought of Paul Simon, reggae and ska. If you watch the whole video, VW also performs "A-Punk," which reminds me of The English Beat.

The Shaw rocks. The Shaw drum line rocks the house!

Check em out here. I'm so proud of our local students. Bravo!!!!

Well I'm not going to lie and say I'm a big fan of Indie Rock. I'd never heard of these guys but I have heard the song they closed with, I just didn't know there name. It's a good song, catchy and party/dance sounding. Not bad for an Indie band lol. If theres one positive thing I can say about indie is that at least its a ton better then emo/screamo rock that was the most popular form of rock before it. At least I can smell hints of classic rock in some indie. But I'm more of a hard rock kind of guy. Not bad though, not bad.

Leno on FOX would be very weird. I think a bigger possibility would be Conan on FOX taking on Leno? I dunno though. I'm very excited about Conan taking over the Tonight Show, I love that red headed Irish man! lol

samo - thanks man! i've been eating less. being on the morning show means exposing more than just my head and shoulders (at night) so after my first few GDLA appearances, i realized maybe i wasn't hiding those few extra pounds as well as i thought... :)

leelila - girl, i love indie music! along with a healthy dose of top 40. shorty got low, low, low, low.. can't get that song out of my head.

lux - i like a bit of hard rock. masculine music! most of our photographers play it all the time, so i don't listen to it as much - because i hear it all day! :)
i LOVE conan so much. he & kimmel are my favorite late-night hosts. i just heard the leno rumor... we'll see if it comes true?

Oh Suzanne, I already have for a second time nailed that on Leno. I have a feeling that Leno might buck NBC after a while, though I do not believe Conan will hold the ratings for too long unless he improves the format of his show. Conan while being a talent isn't that funny. He is more a shtick type of guy and few can pull off slap stick. The late great Johnny Carson could do it, and Jackie Gleason and Bob Hope, but the great talents are gone and Conan's jokes fall seriously flat. If Rupert has an eye for late night, he should grab Leno at all costs, but not for late night, rather for a family variety show.
