Okay, so it was windy and cold outside today.  But once I walked into the Coliseum, I was all warm & toasty with my Trojan spirit.  I know I'm getting a little sentimental here, but it's the holidays, people.

I even felt a little compassion for the Bruin fans, who were tucked into a little corner of the stadium.  They were sitting in the shade where it was extra chilly.  Even the cheerleaders were wearing their jackets.  Thank goodness the band was there because when the Bruins had a good play you could hear some sort of noise that wasn't the Fight Song... but I didn't feel that bad.

I was so happy to look around and see nearly every seat filled with a fan wearing red.  My only issue is that we're looking a bit like Team Gryffindor from Harry Potter.

Yes, I've read a few of the books.  Shhh.. don't tell anybody.  I really like the red and gold striped scarves.  I even bought one today & wore it on the air tonight.  But the label even says, "Potter Scarf."  That's the label from the USC Bookstore.  My goodness.

Anyway, right before I went on the air tonight, Brian in our control room told me I look Christmassy in my red jacket and striped scarf.  Now I don't feel so silly.  I feel that Trojan spirit again... and it feels good, oh it feels so good, huh!

(that was a cheer)

Hey Suzanne,

That scarf looks so snuggly! I love Harry Potter and his trojan-influenced fashion! Way to go! That was a big win for the football team and I'm glad I'll be waking up New Year's day knowing USC will be playing in the Rose Bowl! It must be fun attending all these games in person - I sure love watching them and especially YOU on TV!

Cheers!

You know, I was wondering why the attendance was down yesterday at our writers meeting and there you have it USC versus UCLA. Following the general meeting one of the board members said they were unhappy cause UCLA was losing. Did I care, not really. I just wanted to get home before the darkness and cold of night set in. I later heard USC won, but is anything really that different...? Everybody routes for UCLA and USC wins....again!

i haven't seen Espi in a bit. I'll have to give her some good-natured guff about the game. Do people actually say guff? Ok, I'll be teasing her. :)

I haven't received your school newspapers. I'll have to ask Gigi or Gina to share with me!

I agree with the reading. Anything that gets kids into books is great with me. (another secret: I actually like the books!)

yeah! totally run lizzy down about her home team getting thier butt whooped. give her a good shot for me.

as for the word guff, yeah it's still used, but it's been a while since i have heard it. last time i heard it was when i was in middle school. which reminds me of a story.

well back in those days, me along with many other students would have to wait for the bus at the bus stop to get to school. well this kid that all the bully's picked on was getting picked on again. well he lives across the street, and i guess his dad didnt go to work this day, and notice his son being pushed around. so he came out in his boxers and white stained shirt and yelled out "what's the beef!!!". we all just looked at him, thinking wtf? and everyone just started cracking up.

i felt bad for the kid getting picked on, but i was only a 6th grader at the time, and he was getting picked on 5 8th graders, so screw that. no way am i gonna get my butt kicked for a kid i don't know. i'm just trying to advoid being picked on. but the anyways the guff word just reminded me of that. "what's the beef" oh man that stick cracks me up.

Suzanne,

If by chance you are still goofing around with Elizabeth Espinoza over yesterday's news of USC beating UCLA, keep having fun with it, but be ready in case USC loses the Rose Bowl. You do know what you'll be facing...right? I'm a neutral guy...my alma mater is Cal State Long Beach, so I'm not taking any sides! I am, however, watching with some amusement over what is coming up for the teams. You just never know what's around the corner. By the way, that was a very nice outfit you were wearing that day!

Take Care Now!
