I love going to haunted places.  I've stayed in haunted hotels - no ghosts.  I've gone on ghost tours - yawn - I've covered scarier stories.  But tonight may be the first time I (may) have experienced the supernatural.

So I'm at the Spooky House in Chatsworth.  It's billed as one of the scariest haunted houses around, and they are at a new, bigger location.

Just past the dark, eerie exterior, there is a maze of rooms filled with crazed clowns and hillbillies, insane asylum escapees, devils, and monsters so deformed I can't tell what they're supposed to be.

My true scare started when we started having issues with our microphones.  My photographer Kevin Horton told me he had never seen the lights flash the way they were flashing when we turned it on.  They were going from green to red and here's the kicker - it was a new battery.

Did the spirits suck the life from the 9-volt?

I forgot about it until our editing equipment started acting up.  Then, there was a moment when he didn't have video selected and a growl came out of the speakers.

A growl people.

I've seen Poltergeist.  In fact I just watched it this week.  I've seen The Ring.  I think haunted electrical equipment is scary.   It's kind of like the horror movies when robots turn against people.  Electronics are not supposed to turn on us!

So I'm still a bit thrilled that I got a true fright tonight.

If you'd like to creep through the haunted house yourself check out:

Hey Suzanne, I saw you doing this story yesterday. I thought you were kidding about all the weird stuff that happened! I like that creepy stuff too.

yeah i believe that stuff, and here are reasons why.

1. it was the middle of summer, and i was staying over at my mom's house. i was sleeping alone in the guest room. i woke up around 3 am in the morning because the bed was shaking. i don't mean a little bit, i mean alot. like pounding. i thought it was a earth quake, but i notice their was nothing else in the room shaking other then the bed. no one else was in the room with me at all. it wasn't me shivering cuz of the cold, since it's the middle of the summer. so i jumped out of the bed, and i ran for it. i slept the rest of the night in my sister's room on the ground. screw that, no way am i sleeping in that room.

2. my sisters were sleeping one night in the same house. my sister had her cd's stacked up in a normal stack. in the middle of the night, she woke up and was listening to someone moving her cd's around, but no one entered the room since the door was locked. the next morning she found her cd's stacked in a pyramid shaped.

3. in a old house that my family used to live in at chino, my mom was alone in the house. she was in the kitchen sitting down doing the bills. she notice in the dark hallway something like a shadow moving. she called out to see if it was anyone. but she didn't get a response. it was a hot day, but then all of a sudden my mom felt a cold presense. she also felt someone putting some sort of cold weight upon her shoulders. she just froze up, not knowing what to do. she couldn't even scream out for help. then the presence left. the chill left as quickly as it came.

last story i promise. but the other reason why i truly believe their are ghost around, other then the bed shaking.
4. i was sleeping at home. i woke up and it was exactly 3:15. i saw a shadow floating above me. i stared at it wondering what it was. then it decended into me. from that moment i couldnt really breath, i couldnt move, i could even turn my head. it was a horrible feeling. i never felt such fear, nor so helpless. i tried to fight it and eventually whatever went in, came out and i was able to move again. again i ran for it. this time i headed to the living room. i thought it was a dream, but if it was, how did i end out in the living room, if i know for sure i was watching tv, and fell asleep in my bedroom? i told my friend about it. he said that restless spirits are just looking for a person to go into to rest. but the only way they can go into a person is if they are sleeping with their face up with the chest exposed. which is exatly the way i woke up, when i notice the dark figure. i didnt even tell him how i was sleeping. since then i have woken up everyday at exactly 3:15 am for no reason, and this thing has happened to me 2 more times. so yeah, i believe.

Our landlord died in his apartment of suicide a few years back. About a week later as I walked into our courtyard, I looked left and saw him standing there with a cigarett in his hand. He looked at me and just kinda smiled. Scared the crap out of me for a second, but then shook my head and he was gone. That was my first ever experience like that.

Wow! These stories are great. As a kid, I thought I saw ghosts, but my parents said I had an overactive imagination.

When I was 11, my best friend and I would sit in my room and wait for the windows to rattle and the door to swing open at the same time every night. Then we started freaking out and prayed and walked through the house - our own kind of exorcism - and I don't think it ever happened again. I was sad, because it was fun to get a little scare.
I wasn't sure if it was just our imagination in the end or if it had really happened?

Suzanne,

About the electronics gremlins: I've had to deal with some at the radio station where I work. The system had just been upgraded, and we finally got a hold of the company which I will not mention on the response, and since they had upgraded the program for Windows Vista, it had some issues to be dealt with. For one thing, we lost a few files with radio programs on it, and we had to scramble onto a download site to get the day's program before it was time to air it. On some of the programs, they would start airing, then get bumped out by the system. So nothing scary, but it sure bugged us for a few days.

Boy I've been struck by the electronics gremlins 2x today...so much for the power grids during the wildfires! There are other things I wish to say, and no, I'm not one of these wackos on the fringes! Yes, Satan is real, and dangerous! I have dealt with some nasty stuff involving occultic activities, and I wouldn't wish it on even my worst enemy! Beware of what you get involved with...I know someone who took her own life after she kept hearing voices in her head for over 20 years after she had messed around with a Ouija board. This is not a joke, it really happened...I found out about her death from a trusted classmate of mine at my 20 year reunion. I had wondered what had ever happened to this nice gal I knew back from junior high when I got the news. This classmate was trying to track down those who were close friends of the deceased woman to make sure nothing bad would happen to them either. I have personally dealt with the aftermath of some other activities involving the occult, and believe me, it is not a pretty picture! There is a place in Orange County that seems to be a popular place for witchcraft, and I will not mention it on this blog! If you the readers know about the place I'm talking about, I would BEG you to stay away from this place! And no, it's not Disney or Knotts! The sheriff's department patrols over the place with helicopters both night and day, and if they spot you at this place, they will come after you for your own safety.

Wow Suzanne am glad you posted this. Check out my blog the people here refused to kick topside...

It is the second blog I have authored and fox blogs never posts it topside. I am a amateur Paranormal Investigator and run the only site that connects all of the Golden State of California at http://www.valleyhaunts.net I also have a couple of haunted websites too with photos and research information. The photos show each, a PPE and also lots of PPEN in them which we have determined in digital photos to be associated with paranormal activity. Those sites are at http://www.sebar.com/haunted and also http://www.sebar.com/hart where you may even be able to view the late Mr. Hart's ghost on the Veranda. The valleyhaunts forums are moving to a new domain so they will be on and offline this week, but from all over California amateur paranormal investigators are posting information. The hotspot of activity seems to be the Palmdale Lancaster areas with everything from Ghost sightings to Manimal spottings such as Chupacabra's and High Desert Sasquatch with glowing red eyes. While I have no actual explanation for all of this, something of it needs more scientific investigation across the board. Hope my research helps you in your paranormal investigations. Something is going on, what it is I cannot say for sure.

I totally believe in all this stuff. I actually did a really cool ghost tour in Old Town San Diego and did experience seeing a guy who wasn't there and I felt something on my face. Really freaked me out. My grandma died in my parents' house. When my daughter was just under 2 years old, my grandma's old room was converted into a sort of nursery/playroom for her. The first time my daughter spent time in the crib, some really strange writing appeared on the ceiling. You couldn't tell what it said, but when my grandma died (at age 102), she was very arthritic and could barely write. She was cremated and the writing on the ceiling appeared to be written in a black/grey ash. At the time, I was going through a difficult time with my child, and I believe that was my grandma's way of telling me that everything was going to be OK.

I'd love to find a real-life ghost-hunting expedition here in Los Angeles. Anyone have any leads?

Sad thing is that most people come to our website for halloween but we are all doing this year round for research. I always ask others never to trespass on private property and always get written permission by property owners for investigations. People trespassing is a very big problem. I also ask investigators not to post the name of businesses or other places unless paranormal activity has been documented. People and especially businesses are sue happy these days!

actually i do believe in ghost
we lived in a house in fontana ca that had very strange things going on in it like you would be in the livng room reading and hear real faint whispering and things moving , footsteps at night and my mom had this rocking chair and she would get upset if you banged the wall with it while rocking because it left scuff marks one night me and my niece shared the couch to sleep it was a long couch i was 16 i think, anyways we had alot of family visiting we both heard a banging on the wall sat up just to see the rocking chair rocking and hitting the wall with no one in it , needless to say i was freaked out , but i don't think you should mess with that stuff either because it can stir things up you may or may not want

All of you who are reading these posts about the hauntings and ghosts, I'm going to say something that will really upset some of you, but I have to say it for your own good: Don't go there! Don't go hunting for ghosts; don't mess with Ouija boards; don't call up dead spirits; don't go to fortune tellers; don't mess with the occult! All these things are going to eventually attempt to destroy you! When I said earlier that I dealt with the messy aftermath of the occult, one such episode was when I was a volunteer at a telephone counseling center for a Christian organization which I am not allowed to divulge much information from, including the name of the organization. I took a call in which a person became possessed with an evil spirit at the other end of the phone, and this did not sound like an act! This person called in, was afraid, and then the voice changed to a sinister voice. I am not making this up either! This is just one reason of many as to why I am saying stay away from the occult. Also in my previous post, you probably read about the woman who took her own life...That was devastating for me, since she was one of the nicest people I had ever met. And Samo...yes, stay away from fortune tellers; they're linked to the occult whether they realize it or not.
