Stu's Blog - Ravings from a Right Wing Wacko

Hi guys! I know it has been a while, and I need to get a few things off my chest, so I am going to vent a little, and let you know what has been going on in my life.

As you may know, we got a dog, a beagle named Greta. A couple of days after we got her, she starting yelping in pain, and we know something was not right. We took her to the vet, did some testing and x-rays. She had something called Stump Pyrometra, a rare condition that happens after a dog has been spayed. We were told she needed an operation, and would cost $2,000. There is no way I had that kind of money lying around. We called the rescue, and told them that the dog had a pre-existing condition caused by the spay their vet did, and we would appreciate some help with the cost, seeing as how we only had Greta 1 week. They said the only way they would pay for any of the operation is if se signer her back over to them and terminated our rights to the dog. Sadly, with as much pain as she was in, we had to do it.

What started then was a lengthy email session, with me giving my points on why they should have been responsible for the dog, as according to the vet, she was deathly sick when she was given to us. The vet that did her spay did a hatchet job, on the poor girl.  I made my points, and some wonderful people in the organization are on our side. They had an anonymous donor give $ 700.00 to offset operation costs.

Well, we went through the mental suffering of losing her so soon, and have come to accept the fact that she is no longer ours, when I get an email yesterday that there is a chance that they will give her back to us. Im hopeful, but not getting my hopes up, if that makes any sense.

Added to all of this my Uncle passed away. So, I have kind of been alone with Terri and my thoughts, getting all of this straight.

I’ll keep you all informed, and look for more posts from me.

Stu, that is so sad. I'll keep you and the puppy in my prayers. That is just terrible how they would put those kind of conditions on being responsible for the dog. Their vet is a hack and he should be either terminated or brought up on charges for what he did to the dog. I pray that you get her back soon and that she's happy and healthy again! Good luck and keep us up to date on this!

Hi Stu and welcome back to the blogosphere! I am deeply sorry for the loss of your Uncle and for what you are going through with poor little Greta. As GITRDONE said, their vet is obviously a hatchet man/woman. I would report him if there is a way of doing that. I will hope and pray that you will be rejoined with Greta again and she will be a healthy and happy little girl!! Blessings to you and the family. :)

Stu, I really hope Greta comes back home to you!! Sorry about your uncle! You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I think their website said they would bring the dog back if there was a problem. Maybe go back and check their disclaimer...

Hope she is better!

Life DOES have a way of throwing us hardballs at times, doesn't it? I, too, went through some really tough times and found that ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING. Hang in there and keep a positive attitude -- yes, Spring is on it's way (maybe after this big snowstorm)

Sorry Stu,

Boy, loss isn't easy but it makes us stronger. Keep the faith and maybe ole Greta will be a silver lining to your grey clouded weeks.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. There is hope, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnell. We went last Saturday to see Greta, and she is doing so good. We were able to spend over an hour with her, and she remembered us. Keep your fingers crossed!

I am a 40 year old married father. I could be called very conservative in my political views. I love the Packers, Brewers, NASCAR, Badgers, UWM hoops. If I could be rich and not work, I would be working for a political campaign, open a Microbrew Pub and golfing. I listen to all types of music, and a closet Dead Head. I am also homebrewing beer. My Brewery is called Par Four Brewing Company. I like to read whenever I can, but I sometimes veg out on reality shows.
