Regarding the Tuesday, January 30th appearance by criminal profiler Lawrence Moran;

Either his analysis was based on pure ignorance or he was simply feeding the appetite of an overly sympathetic public. To suggest that these were forced, posed sexual fantasy pictures by Devlin would be humorous if not so sad and destructive. Destructive in the sense that when someone is presented as a qualified expert, the public tends to trust his analysis even when it is flawed. It's sad because people are falling over themselves to make excuses not to know the truth.

No matter what his motivation for offering such naive assessment, I see his diploma as nothing more than expensive toilet paper.

A diploma doesn't make you smart. It CERTAINLY is no indication of qualification.

Maybe you guys should get to know more about Lawrence before passing such big judgements on him...you are dillusional if you think that being a profiler on these types of people means that when they report on it..it will be nice and watered down..no..a profiler's job is to get into the criminals mind to figure out what makes them tick...he has years of experience in his field..granted it makes you sick to listen to some of what is said..but that is once again what the mute button is for..if there weren't people out there like Mr. Moran how would we know what makes these guys tick?

LBJ....I think you may have misunderstood. My disagreement was with his assessment of Devlin and with his opinion that the pictures were some part of a sexual fantasy role play. It is my contention that those pictures most likely are representative of SHAWN's mindset....not Devlin's

I don't have all the inside information but I would offer a profile that would look more like a shy man with a very explosive temper. Probably bi-polar at some level. He was able to blend in for so long that he must have self-awareness and an ability to conform which, would rule out many forms of mental defect. He would be excited by the power and control he'd have by taking and keeping a small boy. Once he had that boy, he would not then become sexually excited by that boy playing the role of a very dominant character. He feeds on the submissiveness of others. Therefore, those pictures would be Shawn himself expressing his sense of powerlessness by portraying an aggressive villain. Might also explain how he felt about his own lack of action to free himself. He obviously sees himself as a "bad guy".

I want to be clear in saying that I do not in any way feel that Shawn is at "fault" for anything that happened to him. But truth is truth even if it hurts. I do not think speculation and conjecture, just to make everyone "FEEL" better, is healthy for any of us.

We see degrees on two types of thermometers. Oral and Anal......A degree is one thing, the person with it another. I missed the expert but have heard interpretations of pictures at it's best and the best of nonsense as well.

You can be sa smart as you want in "College Books" or have a decree but if you have no "Common Sense" then maybe you aren't as smart as you think. You need common sense to get by no matter who you are.

If you all will remember, we the public did not see all of the pictures. Since I have no training to be a profiler, I am not able to comment on the assessment.
