First off I want to state I am a proud American citizen happy I live in the best country on our planet.

However over the past 15-20 years there has been an alarming trend which in my opinion threatens the fabric of our society and our American Spirit. No, it is not terrorism or Global Warming, it is POLITICAL HATE.

This country is now reduced to:

Red State vs. Blue State
Bill O’Reilly vs. Keith Olberman
Conservative vs. Liberal
Republican vs. Democrat

The political hate spewed in either direction is sad and embarrassing. This country has thrived on differing views and contrary opinions debated in a friendly, intelligent manner. That is what has made us what we are, from the Lincoln/Douglass debates to the Nixon/Kennedy debates.

Now we are reduced to the name calling of Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter on the right and Bill Maher and Al Franken on the left.

Two words GROW UP and stop demolishing the American Spirit!!!!

In a time of war and terrorism we all need to come together and not roll on with the politics of hate. We will not win any war unless we are united!

So what does this have to do with Global Warming???

In the weather blog’s I frequently see Global Warming headings. This is to be expected. The problem to me is the comments show political hate instead of scientific, knowledgeable discussion. There is nothing wrong with debating the science of Global Warming, is it happening? What are the causes? The problem exists when everyone with POLITICAL agendas bring up Al Gore’s name or post films which are inspired not by science but by politics.

Fact is the planet is warming. Now let us all SCIENTIFICALLY examine why and see how concerning it is or is not instead of spewing political hate speech inspired by political ideologs.

God Bless America, let us be united!

Very well put Rob. Politics seem to be root of a lot of issues today. I agree with Tush on the politics and religion point as well.

Rob, you are right. We are becoming a society that is way to polarized..That being said, the reason that I post my views (which are contrary to the man-made global warming theory) is because theories that challenge man-made warming are not represented fairly in the "main stream" media. (in my opinion).

I do not Hate Al Gore, but I do find him to be a bit of a hypocrite.

Also, I try to find the humor in these issues....You know, try to "lighten things up" a little

Good post.

ibejim.....

thanks for the comment!

I believe the "main stream media" term is another term meant to divide. I agree we have a huge problem with media outlets turning into political factories. CNN is the BLUE STAE station and FOX the RED STATE Channel. They feed into the problem. Give us news without the political bias!

As for sense of humor, I am right with you. Everyone needs to lighten up with life!

Again thanks for the comment!

good one, Rob...

thing is that MOST of us are really in the middle and just want the right thing to happen most of the time, right? We just don't make as much noise as the folks on the extreme sides.

Maybe we should start screaming, huh?

"i don't buy any of it...it's getting warmer...it's a weather pattern we're in...it'll get colder again..."

And your facts are where, playing "Hide and go seek"?

Give me a break. The planet is warming, and beyond that, getting ruined. We are polluting our water, air, and environment. We are cutting on the rain forests at an alarming rate, killing off animals for no reason, and just making a fool of ourselves to any alien species happening to be tuning into our mayhem on this planet. Our own luxeries come first, then the environment.

And that is why a lot of people make comments just generally ignoring whats around us. They blame environmental destruction on politics and money because they cant face the music and admit that their cars, TVs, and everyday products make up the very large problem we face with the environment.

Its a relatively easy thing to grasp; it comes down to the human trait called "ego". As a species, we make assumptions that ease our ego. Our own ignorance nowadays gives us a feeling of innocence.

Most americans close their blinds when the acid rain falls, mutters an insult to politics, and then goes back to sleep like we always do...... never do anything about the upcoming problem.
